I'm here almost every Saturday morning. It's my go-to breakfast
No rush, great food (shirred eggs!!!), and fun waitstaff!
Chef does great things in the kitchen - try the quiches!
Don't be in a hurry and enjoy the experience!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jan 28, 2024
The owner/chef is freshly from France, and the food is always so delicious. They have plenty of seats indoors, but it is often very busy, so keep that in mind when choosing what time you'd like to eat.
There a few tables outside for those of us who love to dine "au dehors" and there's always a nice breeze off the water, which is across the street. For those who like to take a short walk after a meal to improve digestion, there's a nice waterfront park across the street.
My favorite dishes are the bateau-mouche and the shirred eggs. So French, so satisfying, so delicious!!
We also come here just to buy their French bakery products made fresh here each day. My hub and I are both sensitive (not allergic) to gluten, so we were THRILLED to find a bakery making pastries from real French flour.
French wheat has never been genetically modified to produce hardier or more wheat, so the gluten is entirely different than American wheat. I had a private medical practice in NYC for years, and learned from my European patients that they could eat wheat and drink milk in their country but not here in the U.S.! Who knew??
After researching why that would be so, we started buying our baked goods from an award-winning patisserie in Manhattan, who told us the secret to his success in competitions was using French flour!
So if someone in your family has problems with gluten (but NOT if they actually have celiac disease!!), try real French croissants made with French flour. No headaches! No stomach problems! And SO flaky and buttery!
And last but not least, the staff and the owner/chef are lovely, warm people. Obviously, we LOVE the Marquise Cafe, and we're so glad it's close to home for usHelpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Georgene H.Minneapolis, MN1276Jan 31, 2024
Cafe says closes at 2 pm arrived at 1:30
Would not seat us. They could at least offer us coffee and a bakery item.
I know lunch could have been iffy
But she didn't ask us what else they could do as we could have sat out side
Can't say I ll return again.
Yelp says hours are until 3 ????Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - Lindsay P.Grand Rapids, MI2351023Aug 19, 2023
We stopped in for dinner on a Thursday evening and we're surprised to be the only ones there. Even more surprised when we realized how incredible the meal was. This place is a gem. If seated facing the parking lot, you can actually see the water while dining from the comfort of the AC. The meals rotate regularly and all are true French cuisine. Good beer and wine selection. Not featured in the photos is the soupe l'onion - our favorite from the meal. Excellant service. Very nice intimate place for a date night and friendly conversation with the owner. We will be back to sample new menu items and brunch!

Last weekend my husband woke up craving crepes. The place closest to us was closed for the weekend so I googled "crepes" and Marquise Cafe popped up. We decided to take a field trip down to Pasadena to check it out.
When we first sat down and got the menu, things took a slight downturn. Our waitress informed us that the crepes were unavailable and not made on the weekends. My husband was visibly upset, it was the one thing he wanted and why we drove to Pasadena! However, at that point there wasn't anywhere else to go, I was hungry and the rest of the menu looked great. I convinced him to stay and I'm so glad I did.
This place is the real deal. The owner and chef are one in the same. A French woman who does everything in the kitchen. Ingredients are brought in from France. We ate off of the weekend brunch menu. I do not remember what I had. I do remember it was delicious. It was basically a scramble of sorts with hash browns, bacon and a delicious béchamel sauce on top. My husband had the super shirred eggs and those were delicious. Sopping up the yolk and cream with a crusty French baguette was just perfection. We also sampled croissants, pain au chocolate and baguette with butter. The owner/chef also brought us an onion tart to try (something she was testing that's not on the menu).
Everything, and I mean everything, was 10/10. The food, the service, the ambiance. This place might be in a little strip center but eating here made me feel like I was back in France. This place is a true hidden gem and I don't believe in gatekeeping. Eat at the Marquis Cafe. You won't regret it.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - Liz M.St. Petersburg, FL367121Nov 20, 2022
Cozy place with an interesting menu. The French Onion soup is delicious and done correctly. It is golden and almost slightly sweet. A side of perfectly salty French butter for the baguette is a must have.
The crepes are fantastic and the toppings, such as the lemon curd, are made in house. This is a one person kitchen, with a single server. This is not Waffle House. You may wait, especially if it is busy, but it's definitely worth the trip!Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 0 - Rainbow E.St Petersburg, FL022Dec 18, 2023
Having enjoyed their breakfasts and welcoming service over the years, my companions and I were looking forward to their special Christmas dinner on December 11, 2023.
Based on the following, I will never go to dinner there again.
Service was atrocious. and not more than 12 guests. The waitress could only wait on one table at a time, not even bringing a menu, water or taking drink orders on our group of 4.
The male waiter just stood near the front door until we asked him if he could take our orders. He would poor a glass of beer and leave the empty bottle on the table. He brought bread after we asked, but no individual small plates to eat from. Candles were not lit on the table.
He did not know if salad was included in the 4 expensive entrees ($32-$37) on the special menu. So we were charged $9 for a small, boring side salad, which was also served with one of the entrees.
Except for the salmon appetizer and onion soup, the meals were disappointing. The flakey crust on the chicken pot pie had to be cut with a knife. The "prime" beef in the Beef Stroganoff was chewy, not tender, and needed more flavor and gravy.
Finally, we were serenaded with lovely Christmas organ music, but the elderly musician sung with a screechy voice, which forced us to leave as early as possible, forgoing dessert and coffee.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0Business owner information

Dear Customer,
First of all, I would like to apologize for your experience with us, which was not as successful as you hoped.
I must also respond to your comments, if I may.
It is true that you waited a bit for your menus, because it turns out that tables were reserved at different times, all the customers arrived within a short time of 10 minutes, and it was difficult for your waitress to bring you the menus, one we certainly had in insufficient numbers, I grant you that.
We had 18 reservations that evening. The table before yours took a very long time to order.
For drinks, the beers were served, and the bottles left on the table, because they were not empty. To see all the content, you must have...
The entrees served that evening cost between $27 and $32. The salads; which had been incorrectly billed at $9, were offered to you. The server is there occasionally, and there was a pricing error, which is why they were offered to you.
I'm sorry you had to take a knife to cut your flaky crust, but that's how the dough is really cooked. Otherwise, it would not be enough and you would have had very poor digestion...
For the beef Stroganoff, we could have served you more sauce upon simple request... This dish, like almost all, is served lightly salted and lightly peppered, so that each person can adjust the seasoning to their taste.
I would have liked you to share all these comments with me before leaving, we could have found an arrangement...
Would you do us the joy and honor of giving us a second chance, and come back so that we can prove to you that your experience was an unfortunate accident.
We wish you and your loved ones a happy new year 2024. - Bob R.Sharon, MA2821003Jan 19, 2024
Very good French food. Everything seems to be homemade and made to order. Prices are very reasonable for the quality of food. Every time we come to the area we eat here and are always very satisfied

We came here for brunch before going on our boat out of Tierra Verde and we were delightfully surprised how awesome the food is here! Real croissants and bread that actually taste the way it should. You will have to try their hazelnut coffee which was just right, a very popular choice. The ambience is comfortable and inviting to just enjoy the moment. We got to meet and talk to Gwen, who is just wonderful, she shared how she started the restaurant 4 yrs ago and also found out that her husband opened up a cafe in Dunedin. Her dinner menu changes every couple of weeks which is great and looking forward to visitng more often, so excited to find this gem!

I can hardly wait to introduce my 11 year old niece to the epic experience of dining here. She is an adventurous eater so it will be fun.
