Martin is magic with hair color. I'm very happy with my cut and color each and every time. i have curly hair and it can be a challenge to style and cut. I go to Martin as I know he will consistently make my hair beautiful. I get compliments all the time and I'am happy to recommend him.

Hands down, Martin at Ooh La La is amazing! I was a total stress case worrying about trying someone new and the hazards of more harsh chemical on my already damaged over-processed hair (plus I'm allergic to everything!) but Martin patiently explained his process and alternative organic products to me over the phone and eased my fears. He is a true 'rockstar' with hair, he actually listens to you and his product line has made my hair so beautiful, soft and shiny again... Its actually growing again! My husband usually crabs at me for how much I spend$$$ at hair salons, but when he took one look at me after my visit to see Martin, he said 'whatever you paid was worth every penny!' I'm definitely a huge fan!!!

I just had my hair not done..but brought back to life!!! This amazing person Mr Martin Rodriguez left me with a smile from ears to ears...in all my 27 years I have never sat down in a salon from begging to end with a big huge smile . :) I just want to tell all you ladies if you have had bad experiences look no further this amazing man Is wonderful. And his hair products rock. Im very happy no words could describe how he brought back light and confidence to me . His work is well worth everything.

Gina V.'s curly hair is a challenge to style and cut, but having super straight hair is REALLY a challenge. Many people cut it, it looks great, and the next time it's washed and dried, it falls differently and looks bad. Martin's high personal standards mean that he keeps cutting until it's really perfect. I can shake my head and have everything just fall into place. Several people have commented that my hair is always perfect, and it's because of Martin. He's farther away than I would like, and he's more expensive than I would like, but it's so important to get it right that it's worth it to me. Not only is he great with hair, but he is so personable that it's a pleasure to go in for a cut, just to catch up. I can recommend him unreservedly.

Short hair? Look no further. I recently moved to the area and after six years of the same stylist, the search for a new one filled me with angst--quite rightly. Before I found Martin, I tried five stylists throughout Huntington and FV. Martin takes the time to learn your preferences, your facial shape, the way your hair grows in and lays on your head...everything you can possibly imagine. He didn't try to turn the chair or hurry me out the door. He was focused and determined to give me what I wanted. Success!

Martin did my color cut and style this morning at 7 a.m. right before work. I felt like a movie star when he finished with me. A little pricey but very worth it. Thank you Martin!! (heart)

Martin has been my hairdresser for 6 years now and he never ceases to amaze me. I recently went to "someone else" to get a discounted perm because I wanted a change but couldn't afford Martin's perm at the time, and it was HORRIBLE. I went back to Martin to fix it and, not only did he get my hair to being healthy again, I got a new style that looks great on me! He saved me once again. Lesson learned: Stick with Martin!

After going to numerous places to get my hair done, this was the first place where the stylist was honest about how my hair looked, and what needed to be done to make it look great. Martin did a great job. Yes it is pricey but i used the special from yelp, ultimately it was worth it.

This is my first review & am writing it because this guy is not only a bad stylist, he's a rip-off....
I have a regular stylist but she was not able to see me that day & I needed to attend a funeral service for a dear friend & was desperate. I called to ask how much a cut & color would cost, the cut I was told would be $65 & he would not quote for the color over the phone (1st red flag). I have shoulder length hair (at best) & my stylist uses a one color process. There's a coupon available for $60, worth $90 in services (which I purchased), so I figured it couldn't be that much more. I usually go to the Living Room in Costa Mesa & it generally costs about $125 for both. So I made an appointment for that day. I am sitting in his chair & boy what an ego this guy has...after he boasts about how good he is etc. etc. etc. He tells me it's going to cost another $75! After he told me all I needed was a color touch up, I was shocked & asked him if he had deducted the $90 in services. He then told me if I wanted to have a less experienced person cut my hair it would be a lot less money (2nd red flag) - never let an egomaniac near you. I should have walked out right then, but I was in a pickle & needed a cut /color & this was the only time I had available. So foolishly I agreed...I really thought for that kind of money he must be good....boy was I wrong. I specifically told him I did not want a color as dark as my natural hair (black-brown) & wanted a modified bob. After he went off on my communication skills (3rd red flag) and told me once again how experienced he was, blah, blah, blah... I tried to just keep quiet and let him finish. I will say the one bright spot was his very nice assistant. When I got home I pulled my hair back and noticed he left a dark stain around my forehead & temples - wonderful! The next day after I washed and dried my hair I knew the cut was amateurish at best and the color was too dark and looked harsh. I have worn my hair in various bobs for years and know a good cut - this was not, it was the kind of cut you get for $30 as it doesn't fall nicely. I decided not to call him for a recut as I don't want him near my hair again (especially considering his skill level) - so I will have it recut by my regular stylist. As far as I am concerned this guy is totally running a bait & switch scam by offering a coupon, than charging an exorbitant price to make up for the loss - honestly I wouldn't have been so mad about being ripped off if the cut and color were worth that kind of money but they were not! So I am writing this to warn others to stay away from this guy & his scissors!!!!
