I requested a quote for my furnace replacement and Kurt reached out to me to set up an appointment. The appointment was for Monday the 25th of October between 10:30 and 1:30. I took off of work in order to be available for this appointment and when 1:30 came and went, I called back. Call went to voicemail so I left a message. Literally no call back. No follow up. This is absolutely ridiculous. When the only number I was able to use was for a guy named Kurt with no business name in the voicemail box and a personal email address, I should've been leery. But many contractors are like that so I gave him a chance. Never again. I will be seeking my services elsewhere.

Nope. I own a condo downtown. They were called by my broker to repair some condenser lines. My tenant stated, "They were here no more than 45 min." The invoice stated 2 hours labor. My broker contacted them regarding this issue. They went to the Board of the condo and got their full payment and in the mail I get a "late fee" but never had any contact from them. I pay everything on time when warranted. Not sure how my condo Board paid an invoice without contacting me to verify that any word had been done. That's another story.
***Update: They got in touch with my broker and apologized for going to the Board while the invoice was being disputed. They stand by the 2 hrs. but will remove the service fee, which covers the late fee charged by the Board.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - Richard R.Beachwood, OH1943091May 13, 2019
Have you ever seen that Seinfeld episode where Jerry makes a car reservation and he arrives at the car rental place to find out his car has already been rented? He then explains the concept of a reservation to the agent and the agent says "I know why we have reservations" and Jerry goes "I don't think you do...If you did, I'd have a car right now. You know how to take the reservation, but you just don't know how to HOLD the reservation...and that's really the most important part of the reservation...it's the holding..." That's what dealing what McPhillips feels like.

I had an appointment for 9:30am for a simple snaking of a drain. 9:45 rolls around and I call McPhillips asking if I'm on their books for a 9:30 appointment. They confirm that yes I do have an appointment on the books and the service tech should be there soon. 10:30 comes by...nothing. I call them back and they assure me that someone different will be there within 15 minutes. He's already in the area and he's on his way. 11:20 still nothing. Frustrated, I call back again to ask what's going on. He says the guy is on his way and 20 minutes away. That's right, he's now somehow further away than he was. It took another 40 minutes for the tech to finally show up. I asked the service agent if this service will be discounted because of the piss poor service and he counters by saying that his doctor doesn't discount his service if he has to wait and he isn't going to discount it either.
This is a completely unacceptable way to run a service business. McPhillips does not care if you need to go to work or have somewhere to be. They will show up whenever they feel like it or not at all.
Use McPhillips if you place very little value on your time.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Lori M.Beachwood, OH02Sep 22, 2022
One of there plumbers told us we needed a hot water heater. While he was there he said we should replace our toilets because we can save money on water (they have the four gallon tanks), so we picked one up at the same time we got the hot water tank. He told us how much it would cost and noted what we would need, and we told him we would be getting in touch soon. My husband called and confirmed the charges with the receptionist prior to scheduling. We called and were told someone will be out between 8 and 10. At 9 my husband calls and was told someone will be out in 15. He calls again at 9:30 and was told he'd be there in 20. My husband had to cancel because he couldn't rely on him being there by 10. It was scheduled for the same time the next day, he shows at 9:45. It takes forever to drain the heater. He doesn't have a shut off valve (which was noted by original plumber). What kind of plumber doesn't have a shut off valve. We asked if he needed a permit, and he said no (which is a lie). He charged at anywhere from $132-$232 more than the original estimate, and the second one too. My husband has been calling for a month to tell them he needs to speak to the owner. Either they don't answer when the see his number or they just don't call back. They didn't give us a receipt, nor will they send us one. They also have nothing to say about the wobbly toilet they installed. I guess it would've been nice if he installed the nut. We found it in the driveway, but aren't sure how tight to tighten it (it still wobbles).I guess we should've waited when we had a problem with the bill until the plumber contacted his manager.

We really wanted to give this company a good rating, but we have had enough. It has now been THREE times that we have scheduled for the company to come to our house and they have no-called, no-showed, EVERY SINGLE TIME. I'm not lying. I truly don't get it. How does a company function like this? One of the excuses they gave was that they had too many emergency situations come up and couldn't get to us. Okay, I understand that emergencies arise, but three different times and not even giving us a courtesy call? Ridiculous.
If you care about using a reliable company, DO NOT use this one.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Rebecca B.San Francisco, CA02Jun 10, 2020
I recently reached out to McPhillips regarding a plumbing job. They initially stated they would be able to help but after not receiving a quote via email for several days I contacted the office again. I was told they did not have anyone to provide a quote for 2 weeks and they would charge a fee for a member of the team to travel to the place of residence for a quote. I am disappointed that they wasted valuable time that could have been directed at getting the issue resolved through another company. Their communication was unprofessional and not direct. I would never recommend their services to a friend or relative and am extremely disappointed in the service that was provided.

The response time from McPhillips was excellent. The personnel that I have spoken with were courteous and professional. Their estimate on my work was lower than the other companies that I had contacted. Work was completed on time. Clean up after the job was also excellent. I would highly recommend.
