The service is TOP NOTCH! Don't think my drink glass ever got less than half full our entire meal. Salsa and queso were both flavorful. Enchiladas and quesadillas were excellent. Both kinds of meat were so tasty! We will definitely be back

Stopped here for dinner with family and it was very busy, but we were seated within 15 minutes. The margaritas were in a small glass, but THEY were very good. The chips were homemade and very warm and went great with the salsa. I ordered the fajita Waxahachie, and the was terrific. The sausage was great, and it went well with the chick and steak. The guacamole was made fresh and tasted great. My family also enjoyed their meals. Would highly recommend.

We've been back to Mi Casa two more times now during April and explored some other menu items from the tantalizing list of Oaxacan items. They've all been delicious!
From their Lunch menu, I had to have enchiladas, to test those waters, and they were dynamite. They have a pick 2 or 3 choice from all 3 basic enchiladas and a tamale, so I tried all three enchiladas and asked for Salsa Verde instead of sour cream on the chicken. Stuffed full and round, tender and so savory. They came with refries and Spanish rice. I actually ate it all.
My husband had the Oaxacan Memelas. Similar to sopes; but better, they had a handmade molded corn masa base that held chicken fajita meat, lettuce, tomatoes and cheese. They came with a spicy pureed green sauce on the side which he loved, of course.
Then at dinner, a few days ago, we shared an appetizer, the Nachos Libre. A large round platter contained a giant sturdy crispy tostada like "tortilla shell" that had been cut like a pizza after being topped with refries, ground beef and cheese. It came with jalapeños, sour cream and guacamole and was definitely yummy. We dug in right away and I forgot to snap a pic! So good, though. I've never had anything like it.
I finally ordered the marinated grilled Salmon Huatulco with Mango Pico. It also came with sauteed zucchini, bell pepper and a fragrant herbal white rice. Rare, as I requested, it was perfectly prepared. They also allowed me to substitute more zucchini for carrots with no problem.
The Chicken Breast in green sauce with grilled rajas that my husband inhaled was apparently delicious, too. He said as much, anyway. I restrained him long enough to get a picture.
Service is lovely here. Prompt and respectful.
I do prefer the chairs for seating, with my aging back, over the cushionless wooden banquettes. People are now sitting upstairs on the beautiful patio; but alas, there is no elevator. It's still wonderful, however, and we'll come here often.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 6Oh no 0Dec 11, 2022Previous reviewWe were delighted to discover that Mi Casa has opened a beautiful new restaurant near FM 347 and Highway 77 within a cluster of new restaurants and stores on the west side of the highway near Atwoods.
It was dark when we were out, so I have no exterior photos; but Mi Casa is hard to see from the highway, it's in the rear, facing the west and a pond. The building is two stories with an upstairs patio and the downstairs front is all glass.
Only four weeks into opening, the place was hopping. Someone has sure found out that they are open! We looked at the seating and most is some combination of tables and chairs and then wooden banquettes. The embroidered banquette pillows are beautiful; but there are no banquette seat cushions, so we chose the chairs.
The menu was very familiar after having dined at the previous location. I don't know what I was thinking, but I forgot to take photos of the menu and there are not updated versions on their website. However, they do have a terrific menu with not only TexMex and regional specialities represented; but what I believe are some of their own creations.
We first decided on the queso fundido. The white cheese came bubbling hot around the edges of a small round cast iron skillet. ($8.99) Topped with a few mushrooms and chorizo, it had been awhile since I'd had fundido and it was definitely gooey and delicious with flour tortillas.
The queso cooled rapidly, though, and the fundido started sticking to the pan before we were close to finishing, unfortunately. Still, it was yummy and a treat.
My spouse had the Bistek a la Mexicana ($16.99) which is tender chunks of beef steak with spicy peppers and onions in a Ranchero sauce served with beans, rice and flour tortillas. My husband devoured what was served him along with their salsa and an even spicier pureed red salsa that he requested. I didn't even get a photo, he was so anxious to eat!
Mi Casa's table salsa is very good and plenty spicy for me. It went well with my entree; Chicken Tortilla Soup. ($12.99) The soup arrived steaming hot in a giant bowl with carrots, potatoes, avocado chunks, chicken breast pieces, cilantro and a heavenly broth. It also came with a side of rice.
I've had the soup before and this bowl felt a little rushed. The chicken pieces were shreddable; but the chicken itself had no flavor and tasted dry. The potatoes and carrots were a little undercooked; but still easy to eat.
I added the rice, some salsa and chips. The soup was perfect for the weather. Newly open, I think the kitchen is likely still settling in, finding their pace and I will certainly order this again in the future. It's usually more velvety and I believe it will be again.
The service here was impeccable, as it was before. Personable and knowledgeable, it was a pleasure to be there. The new restaurant is lovely and when the weather is warmer people will be able to enjoy the upstairs patio with its outdoor warmers and view to the west.
There is parking available out front and on the street. Since it was dark, it was difficult to tell just how much there really was. We'll be back for lunch. They have a lunch menu with specials. I look forward to that. - 412661146Apr 7, 2023
Came here on a whim since i got off early on a Friday so i was able to beat the rush, because after 5 it gets packed. We ended up sitting at the bar and got great service. They do have a separate lunch menu if you went during that time. The shrimp cocktail was more like a ceviche but it was delicious and i recommend getting the top shelf margarita, it's nice and strong with a good flavor. It wasn't to loud while we were there and they got had some good merengue music playing while we ate.
