I absolutely love Michael's Garden Gate Nursery. I have been shopping there for many years. I go in with a long list of questions and Michele is patient and so unbelievably knowledgeable. Their plants and pots are gorgeous! I recommend Michael's 100% without reservation. Check it out.

Really adorable little nursery nestled in an almost easy-to-miss spot on Bedford Road. I came thinking I'd be buying a single vegetable plant or herb plant. I bought 6 plants, a watering canister, and some tomato cages. The staff was incredibly knowledgable and helpful. They talked me out of buying a citrus tree the second I admitted that I didn't have a green thumb.
They had an incredible sale running where each plant was buy one, get the second for a penny. So all-in, I spent less than $50. Amazing.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Ken N.West Harrison, NY03Apr 19, 2022

I LOVE this nursery, it's my absolute favorite in the NY/CT area & I think I've visited nearly all of them (not exaggerating). Everyone here is helpful & friendly, they have taken Covid protocols seriously, and they always have a good stock of both indoor & outdoor plants, supplies, cute planters, and seasonal decor items. They may not be as highly 'curated' as some stores, but their quality & prices are unmatched. So many nurseries have astronomically raised their prices on the hot/popular houseplants this past year--I've seen several places sell a plant I know they bought from the grower at around $4 per 4" pot for well over $40--they don't practice that sort of price gouging here on popular plants, and I really appreciate it. I realize nurseries need to turn a profit, and I'm more than happy to pay retail pricing, but the nurseries that price their plants based on some highest bid history on ebay just boils my blood. Thank you for not doing that, Michael's, I think you'll find your customers much more loyal & happy with you & your stellar reviews are every indication that they are!

Lots of organic gardening supplies. I found the gardening advice excellent. For quality products the price is fair. Better than driving around to five places. They had everything I needed for roses and vegetables.

I never post, but the post from Joe W. seems so out of step with my and others's experiences at Michael's.
If I am not mistaken those look like rose bushes, and they are not extremely hardy during the winter in Westchester. It is not the seller's fault if they didn't survive, but what did you due to prepare them for winter to give them the best chance? It also doesn't help when you have one crown buried and the other about 4" above the ground. They do need protection and also need air. Even if you do protect them, the southern NY climate is tough on hybrid roses.
I have been in Michael's many times, and I have never seen the staff raise their voice or be rude to a customer even when a customer is yelling at them or treating them in a manner you should not treat others, and that is rare, as most people seem to love it there, and the employees seem happy to be there.
PS- Joe W pulled his review, so this may seem out of context. Before I discovered Michael's I used to buy plants from Home Depot, or Lowe's, and I can tell you not only are their prices higher than you think, the quality and selection are, well, limited. The plants I have bought from Michael's have thrived while others have done so so. Of course, I also pay attention to how they tell me to care for a plant I am unfamiliar with, and they always know the right answer.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Philip D.Mount Kisco, NY115Jul 24, 2013First to Review
I love this nursery. Michelle and the rest the staff are terrific. If they don't have what you want they will be glad to research and order it for you. In spring and summer they have a terrific selection of plants, including perennials, herbs and annuals. There is a small selection of bushes and trees.
They have an outstanding collection of orchids. It's the best selection anywhere. You can't go wrong shopping here.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
