The result? A ramen experience unlike any you've had before -- and made all the better when shared with others.

Phenomenal.
The Tantanmen was delicious with the peanut sauce and the egg and that pork! Another ramen we tried was the Tonkatsu Curry, I believe, which used to be on the hidden menu but now it's on the menu when you go for lunch. That was fantastic.
This was my dad's first ramen experience and he is HOOKED!
The service for lunch was amazing. A very sweet girl was our server and she was attentive but understanding of needing time to look at the menu.
The restaurant was clean and the best groom was clean, which is a must.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - John B.Jacksonville, FL188137536Feb 4, 2024Updated review
Revising my first review because this place is now one of our go-to spots to satisfy our ramen cravings in Jacksonville! I really liked the fact that this ramen joint uses an authentic ramen noodles unlike other establishments. This place is also one of the few spots - if not only, that offers Tsukemen. We got exposed to Tsukemen in Seattle and glad that Modu offers this on certain days, giving that variation of ramen experience where you dip the noodles to a bowl of flavorful thick broth.
The service we received was very prompt and the ambiance was perfect since the booth somewhat gives you a sense of privacy. I highly recommend this place for ramen!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Nov 17, 2018Previous reviewThis is an okay establishment. Went here for dinner with my wife and there were ups and downs. First, we really liked the design of the restaurant since there were plenty of booth seating that offers privacy and somewhat an intimate setting. The servers were courteous and nice. For our appetizer, we ordered the honey wings. The wings were delicious. It was very crispy and flavorful. For our ramen, I ordered the spicy curry ramen and my wife ordered the tonkotsu ramen. We were very excited because everything were aesthetically pleasing. I liked my curry ramen, although its not out of this world. My wife, not so much. Her ramen lacked the flavor of a tonkotsu broth and she was disappointed. I had to make sure so I tasted her soup and she was right. She ended up asking for salt and pepper to add more taste to her broth. We'll probably be back to try this place again and give it another chance granted that they just recently opened and our experience was probably a one-off. The wings were delicious though!

After a very long day at work, I was freezing and wanting something warm for dinner. My husband and I came here at prime dinner time and only had to wait about 15 minutes for a table.
Neither of us had much time to eat during the day, so we came hungry! We ordered the kimchi pancakes as an appetizer, and they were so good! They had the same texture as a potato pancake and were excellent with a little bit of soy sauce.
For the ramen, I ordered the Tonkotsu with spice added. It was well-flavored and not overly spicy. It was enough to add a kick and some extra flavor, but not so spicy that I couldn't taste the rest of the dish. The black garlic was also heavenly! I'm a garlic lover so this was the perfect way to warm up after a long day outside in the cold.
My husband ordered the matcha ramen and also loved it! I tried some of his broth, and the matcha flavor was a lot more subtle than I was expecting. If I come back, I think I'll order the matcha.
The service was excellent- our server frequently checked on us and made sure we were enjoying our meal.
All in all, this is a solid casual spot for some ramen. I highly recommend checking out Modu Ramen!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Morleen B.Jacksonville, FL0144Apr 19, 2024
I went to Modu Ramen for lunch today, with a friend. First time for both of us. OMG, the food was incredible. I ordered the secret ramen that our waitress Alecs told me about, it was a lemon curry ramen that comes with two tempura chicken tenders. It was so delicious. My friend ordered the Kimchi Vegetable Ramen and she loved it. She had me taste it and I loved it.
Our waitress Alecs was great and very attentive. The inside of the restaurant was very nice and bright. We will be returning very soon, Modu Ramen beats the last restaurant that we always went to for ramen.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jan 7, 2024
Oh em gee.
I love this place. It is so good. The flavor of the shoyu is so close to my favorite spot from back home. The portions are generous, the flavor profile is complex and everything is cooked perfect.
My fiance got the curry ramen, that was so unique and delicious.
We got the chicken karaage to start and it was so crunchy yet juicy and just perfect.
This is the go to ramen spot. I cannot wait to try the other options.
Our waitress Alex was amazing and on top of it plus the decor is so cute!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 1884691337Dec 2, 2023
Tasty Ramen!
I hadn't been in a few years and glad I went back. I loved all the options such a great selection from curry, matcha, lemon to more traditional like miso, soy and pork.
I went with my favorite broth pork - kimchi Tonkotsu. It was very flavorful and I loved the sautéed kitchen. We also had the honey wings which were good but next time I'll go for the hot.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Nov 4, 2023
My fiancé and I wanted to try out a new ramen place, and we stumbled upon Modu Ramen, and wow it was absolutely amazing! Our server was great, he was very patient with us and our food came out pretty quick. The place is absolutely adorable, it's a very calming environment and we really felt welcome there!
My fiancé got their signature Tonkotsu Ramen, Mild Spice. He was absolutely in love with it! Definitely his top 3 favorites.
I got the Kimchi Shio Ramen, regular spice. It as delicious! I also got a side of fresh kimchi to pair with it.
As our appetizer we got the Gimmari which were little fried rice paper snacks filled with noodles. They were different but oh so very good!
Overall, a pretty great experience for our first timeHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jun 26, 2023
One of my favorite places for authentic ramen! Every time I've been here, the food has been consistent! My husband has been to the epicenter of ramen, which is Japan and out of all the places here in Jacksonville, he says this by far is the closest to the real deal.
They now have added more ramen options like the kimchi shoyu (soy sauce based broth) and kimchi miso ramen and also the matcha ramen in both forms! You would think matcha doesn't go well as a broth but think again! My husband and our friend tried the matcha ramen made with ceremonial grade matcha powder with matcha infused noodles (yes, the noodles are green!) and they absolutely loved it! The matcha gives the broth a light, creamy, and enjoyable taste. It may not be for everyone though but I do suggest you give it a try if you're a matcha lover!
I had the kimchi shoyu ramen with a an extra spicy level! Now most places when I say "extra spicy" doesn't mean extra spicy and I usually ask for extra spicy sauce or chili oil. However, this places does it right! I enjoyed my super spicy ramen! The star of the ramen is definitely the braised pork. Oh my goodness, it just melts in your mouth with a perfect amount of saltiness and umami flavor. The kimchi, mushrooms, scallions, naruto (fish cake), corn (I added this), created such a wonderful, aromatic, and delicious taste of flavors that danced off my taste buds so effortlessly. They also cook their soft boiled eggs correctly! I'm always impressed by that because I've been to a lot of ramen places where the egg is overcooked.
We also had the wing flight of rice, daikon radishes, half honey glazed and half spicy wings. The spicy wings is more of a spicy-sweet flavor but it was wonderful. The wings were extra crispy and paired well with the rice. The sauces on the rice were so good that I ended up finishing all the rice!
Overall, if you're looking for an authentic, cozy, warm, and friendly ramen experience, check Modu out! You won't be disappointed! The customer service is outstanding as well! Our waitress was such a sweetheart! The ambiance was super cozy the day we went. It was raining and the sound of the rain with a hot bowl of ramen in a cute, small shop takes me back to my childhood. I prefer smaller restaurants because it's not loud and more relaxing.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Rachna K.Jacksonville, FL3101416Mar 11, 2024
This is probably my favorite ramen place so far that I've tried in Jax! The menu has creative options and the basic ramen options as well and is very customizable in terms of spice level. The restaurant is cute with little individual booths and a back area for bigger parties. Our server was great and very attentive! Went on a Wednesday evening and had a 15-20 minute wait but got our food soon after we were seated!
