Mountain Creek Retirement living is THE WORST. The leasing director RENEE LONG lied to my whole family about this place. She knew my 78 year old mother was legally blind when she moved across the country to make Texas her forever home, and promised she would do everything she could to make my mothers new home welcoming for her. She said her low vision would never be a problem and that they like for residents to "age in place" there, even if they need outside assistance. However, once my mother moved in, she and the rest of management treated my mother and all of our family with contempt. She had the employees keep a log of every time my mother asked someone at the front desk for help reading something, then used that to work up a case to evict her when my mother complained about amenities that were taken away from her that she was promised at lease and still paying for in her rent.

They promised 3 meals in a dining room at lease but then closed the dining room permanently for dinner after only 4 months, blaming it on the government. They promised family could eat with residents but never allowed us to eat with her in the whole 8 months she lived there, blaming it on covid even though residents and visitors are required to show proof that they are fully vaccinated just to enter the building. The chef even kicked me out of the dining room once while I was trying to help my mother read the menu! They also promised healthy alternatives to their very unhealthy menu, which consists mostly of fried, pre-packaged frozen and canned foods, pastas and potatoes loaded with sodium, sugar and fat, but then made those options unavailable for several days of the week. They also promised unlimited soups and salads but frequently turned my mother away when she asked for more! There was no reduction in rent to compensate for these things. My mother had to then start paying for groceries out of her limited income or be forced to eat things that will put most senior citizens into an early grave. When my mother complained about it, they kicked her out with no warning!

The property manager DOUG JACKSON had the NERVE to tell me I don't take good enough care of my mother. He tried to extort me into using a home health care company that is contracted with them, despite my mother not needing a home health aid. My mother has an amazing family support system and she has almost daily visits from us (I live 10 minutes away). We take her to all her doctors appointments, manage all her prescriptions, take her shopping and give her literally anything she needs. When I explained all that to DOUG JACKSON, he told me that it was only my "opinion" and then hung up on me. LOL.. WHAT? Doug Jackson had never even ever met or spoken to my mother, myself or any of our family at all before throwing her out like a piece of trash. Why don't you ask HER, DOUG?? All my mother ever did was ask the front desk for help reading something on the rare occasion her family wasn't there with her because she was legally blind. (The front desk staff were amazing btw and never told her they weren't allowed to help her). What's more is they TRIED TO STEAL MONEY FROM HER SECURITY DEPOSIT and refused to speak to us about it! As they are owned by the city of Grand Prairie, I had to reach out to the mayor to get her full security deposit back.

I expect Renee to reply in a desperate attempt to discredit my review but trust me EVERYTHING I WROTE IS 100% true and you can see on my profile that my reviews are legit. She and her boss Doug and the rest of Jackson Property Management are all liars and thieves who don't know how to manage a retirement community. The real crime of it is that the taxpayers of Grand Prairie are footing the bill for these crooks salaries!!!! The mayor should can them. They trick people into signing under false pretenses, and then nickel and dime their residents and run the place on a skeleton crew to make the most profit, making excuses to the residents who are complacent out of fear of being evicted. If anyone complains they get the boot!!!! My mother is living proof. She made a lot of friends there and they all warned her about what happens to people who complain. Some of them even left good reviews for the place then moved out when they realize how bad it was -- forgetting to update their previous reviews... I KNOW SOME OF THEM PERSONALLY. So take any good reviews you see about this place with a grain of salt.

They ended up doing us a favor because she moved to another retirement community where she got a much bigger apartment for far less money. Her new place is fully staffed and serves 3 meals in the dining room, in which I've joined her for many meals already. They aren't working off a skeleton crew and crying about how nobody wants to work for them. And best of all, they treat us all with dignity and respect! Unlike RENEE and DOUG!!!!
