No-frills food court style restaurant! Located in an abandoned looking building, inside you'll find a wall of different meal options. You pick up a slip next to the meal you want and can customize it. Pay at the counter and they'll call your number when it's ready.
I've only tried their ramens and they're really good, large portioned, and fairly priced. My boyfriend has tried a lot of the other dishes, like the donburi, and said they're all delicious. Quick and yummy food!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Apr 15, 2024
I don't know if I have much to add to previous reviews. Food is straightforward, served hot, and we enjoyed everything. The cafeteria-style and little paper selections was a nice change - it made ordering fun and easy. I like that you can specify number of items and that there is a "here or to-go" option. The dining room is huge and had game shows playing on the TV, achieving high tier vibes.
Would absolutely be back. I loved everything we ordered. The highlights for me personally were agedashi tofu and chicken katsu, DELISH!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 86108183Jan 14, 2024
I've given this place a try several times now over the years and I'm sorry to say that it has disappointed me every single time.
The concept is cool, Japanese cafeteria style. You look at the menu board when you walk in and select what you'd like off the walls. Each picture has a a description and corresponding paper slip where you choose dine in or takeout. To order you must hand the slip to the cashier and pay to complete your order. Cold and hot water are free of charge, hot tea costs $.75 a bag.
Once you've ordered you can sit and one of many tables and booths available and wait until your number is called. The tables and booths are all outdated and ripping, many of the seats are being held together with tape. The walls next to the booth we were sitting in were absolutely filthy, with dust and food splatters.
The worst part was yet to come this visit though, as I was eating my rice I saw something brown, lo and behold there were moths is my rice. I also found one in my salad, which was unfortunate since the dressing was pretty good.
Nagomi has run out of chances in my book, this place is filthy and I won't waste my money here again.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 2 - Apr 12, 2024Updated review38 check-ins
It's been a little while since my last visit here and I am so happy I returned! The food was very good! I always enjoy the Nagoya ramen, deep favors with a bit of spice. It's such a pleasant experience! The Shoyu ramen doesn't miss. Again, the depth of flavor is just right along with the toppings. On this day, I wanted to check out some appetizers as well. The breast of chicken katsu was spot on! It was crispy and tender and mild. All the apps were prepared well and we enjoyed the Agedashi tofu, the potato croquette and chicken gyoza ! All were nicely done with a nice presentation.
I enjoy the ordering process as it is unique. The large space allows for a lot of seating and the atmosphere is rustic and casual. No pretense, just good food!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0Jan 4, 2015Previous reviewAs the other reviewers have mentioned, very unique place. But, it is fun to pick out your ramen from the pictures in the wall! They have other offerings too, tonkatsu, shumai, croquettes and more. The ramen is their speciality! You can modify you order to your tastes and they also have vegetarian items. The ramen is hot and really tasty, with lots of toppings.
You bus your own table, no tip necessary. A fun and really satisfying place for a quick bite! - Jan 14, 2024
Thursday 7pm, on 1/11/2024. Unlike the lunch hours, it was very quiet and slow for dinner hours. Maybe because there is no alcohol served, it does not get busy during the dinner hours? Anyway, easy ordering process, go up to the cashier and place order. However, they do ask for tips even though this is a walk up and pick up just like a food court at a mall.
I got Katsu Curry Udon. It was yummy as if I was getting this in Japan. Katsu was delicious, just had to save it from getting too much soaked in curry as I prefer it crispy than mushy.
Very chewy udon noodles and the curry soup was not just adding curry to udon soup, but appropriately cooked as Curry Udon soup. Delicious!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Zhipeng Y.New Hudson, MI37379Apr 15, 2024
Noodle are so so. But owner is very welcomed. He always offers snacks for free. I like the karame chicken.

I've been coming here for a while now, first time reviewing.
You select what you want based on pictures on the wall, pick up a slip of paper, and pay with that.
It is a large dining area, cafeteria like.
Food comes fast. Cooked fresh. Lots of noodle and rice options. About 15$ per dish. Large portions. Quality is average. Definitely not fancy but leaves you feeling full for sure.
If you're looking for quick bite of authentic Japanese food, try this place.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - 8610302340Nov 1, 2023
I've been anticipating eating here and finally made it. But first I got lost because that can't be the restaurant over there, right? Yes, that's it over there. Upon entering, I was surprised that you write down your items to place your order. That's fine once I got the hang of what I was supposed to do. The inside leaves a lot to be desired so I would not dine in but opted for a takeout order. I had the chicken katsu and the chicken karaage. These were safe choices and did not disappoint. I would return for another takeout order of these two items, but I may branch out and try other things.

Can't believe 8 years after I first came here on a random visit to the area....I now live in the area and visit on a semi regular basis.
Still cafeteria style, quite possibly my favorite food in the entire area. Sometimes I get a bunch of stuff to go and eat it over a few days, but there's nothing quite like eating here. Current favorite is a Ginger Pork dish (which might be a special), you can't go wrong with getting a side of sesame balls, and the miso the meals come with always hits just right.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Apr 12, 2015Previous reviewAs my friend said, this is definitely a place you either know about or purposefully search out.
Portions were quite large. My friend got the eel and the other got something I hadn't heard of (but was very excited because it's hard to find outside of Japan apparently). I got chicken katsu. Everything came out quick and was tasty. I can't speak to the price vs food quality/quantity exactly as my friend picked up the bill, but I'd definitely come back again to at least try the ramen (it looked so good!!!). - Jenni S.Almont, MI0236Sep 4, 2023
Order by picking the slip from the photo on the right side of the aisle as you make your way to the counter. Lots to pick from. I also got the fried squid (not pictured).
Sooooo delicious. Can't wait to bring my kids the next time.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
