Love this place for take out. Everyone is so kind and helpful, the food is great! Small and clean location with a few seats for a casual dinner or lunch. Love the pad Thai and drunken noodles

This chickpea wrap was delicious on the first bite. Stop by the spot because it's in walking distance from recording studio. This was a lovely treat to have. I must come back and order more from the menu.... There are vegan options. The place is a small grab and go restaurant... it has little seating area but you stay and eat your meal.

Ordered takeout from this place:
Summer rolls: 4/5 overall good but could have used more filling inside. Excellent sauce on the side though.
Chicken pad Thai: 2/5 slightly too much chili spice (nowhere in the description said it was spicy) and way too overpowering smell of fish sauce. Better pad Thai at other places
Mango chicken: 3.5/5 nothing in particular that stood out in terms of good and bad. Tad on the greasy side.
Pineapple fried rice: 4/5 standard recipe, could use less green peppers.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - Natasha K.New York, NY144821Dec 2, 2023
I stopped by NaNa Thai Street purely by happenstance. I was famished after a day running around the city and was drawn in by the name of the restaurant, NaNa, which was my childhood nickname, as well as the realization that I hadn't had good Thai food in a while. The reviews and promise of abundant GF options seemed encouraging, so I gave it a go, and now I'm back in the Yelp circle of life to share my two cents:
FOOD: Amazing!!! Plenty of GF options, which is so lovely, when often I only have a handful of choices at most places. I had the mango salad (pictured), pad see ew, and taro custard sticky rice. While the salad and pad see ew were tasty, the taro custard sticky rice blew my freaking socks off!!! Sorry, no pic--the dish was aesthetically nondescript (verging on unappetizing, tbh) so I didn't even think to snap a photo. In lieu of a picture, I'll engage my powers of description to try and paint a picture for you: OK, so, logistically, the dish had a bit of DIY vibe. There were three items in the takeaway container. The rice portion was globbed into a thick oblong mass and was encased by cling film. Next to it was the taro custard, naked in its rectangular form. And, lastly, the coconut milk was housed its own little container. Upon viewing this hodgepodge of items, I sought guidance from the staff, who instructed me to just remove the cling film and douse the rice and the custard with the coconut milk. I admit that I was a bit skeptical going into my first bite. I mean, not much can go wrong with rice, custard, and coconut milk, but I wasn't sure the dish would have much flavor. But, wow, did my prediction of blandness get obliterated. I honestly felt like the narrator in Proust's 'In Search of Lost Time,' who is transported in the annals of memory through a mere bite of a madeleine. The quote, "No sooner had the warm liquid mixed with the crumbs touched my palate than a shudder ran through me and I stopped, intent upon the extraordinary thing that was happening to me," has rarely felt more resonant to me. The clamor and assaultive fluorescent lights surrounding me faded as I was embraced by cozy memories involving the starchy essence of rice pudding, the milky sweetness of tres leches cake, and the custard-y goodness of flan and creme brûlée. Such a sensory delight and mental respite! You can be sure that I plan to go back just for this GF treat. It likely won't live up to my first experience, but even if it's 70% as yummy next time, a return trip will have been worth it.
SERVICE: The woman who attended to me at the counter was very friendly and willing to answer any questions I had. In addition, when I was contemplating adding a dessert to my order, she recommended the taro custard sticky rice, so basically she is a goddess in my book. Finally, the food was ready relatively quickly (maybe 10-15 minutes?).
AMBIANCE: The ambiance leaves something to be desired. In my view, the restaurant is best described as a hole-in-the-wall with little attention to decor (e.g., mismatched stools, in an uncoordinated, non-trendy way). The implication of the modestly sized space is that it leaves little distance between people choosing to dine in and the horde of delivery folk who funnel in and loudly swarm the counter with demands for order fulfillment. Frankly, the palpable tension between restaurant staff and delivery folk was somewhat disruptive as I tried to eat my meal. With that said, if food consumption purely in mind, I think you won't be let down. If you can't enjoy food in a non-ideal setting, I'd say you should opt for take-out.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Nov 14, 2023Updated review
I unknowingly tried this place again because it was ordered for me; my dish looked good... and it was, it was really good.
I guess it all matters what you order.
Don't order the duck or the soup or the wrap... do order the flank steak but don't expect a lot of meat.
Can't give them the four stars for the dish today because of the awful experience last time; we'll see how it goes in the future.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0Nov 5, 2023Previous reviewI simply cannot agree with the bulk of the reviews for this spot, and frankly, I don't think I even want to risk trying it again and give it another chance.
I truly did not get that authentic Thai blast of flavor and happiness. The Tom Yum soup was a let down, packed no punch of heat. Maybe the most lack luster cup of TomYum I've ever tried... ever.
The duck wrap... fit in the palm of my hand for $17 and after my first bite I was turned off; hard inedible piece of fat and a regular white flour tortilla.
How disgraceful to do bad Thai... like, the best, most flavorful cuisine, and you're gnna treat it this way?
Not satisfying.
Not worth it. - 14329690Jul 13, 2023
I walked by this place for the first time on my way to the train station and it quite literally drew me in. I am a huge sucker for a hole in the wall-esque place, but NaNa had the aesthetic to go with it. There's some communal seating inside, but I'd say it's mostly for takeout.
I ordered the rama peanut chicken because I love. Peanut sauce. I was going to go with my usual (pad see ew), but the peanut sauce was literally calling my name. I took it home to eat and found that they separate the chicken from the sauce for you to do yourself which I loved.
My issue with this dish was that the peanut sauce wasn't thick enough to stick to the chicken. I felt like I was dunking the chicken into this watery peanut sauce. And because it didn't stick, it was hard for me to taste the peanut flavor that I wanted in the dish. It was just too thin, and I'm not sure if it was because of the condensation building up on my way home or something to do with the travel time, but that aspect of it just made it hard for me to enjoy my food.
Service was quick and easy, though. I'd definitely be willing to come back and try their noodles or Thai iced tea.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jul 8, 2023
Rama peanut is the best Thai dish until proven otherwise, and this one at NaNa Thai Street in Flatiron is up there with "as good as it gets". (Generally speaking, if an Asian place has peanut sauce, you get it.). Fast casual, good prices, ok seating at the place, and more at Madison Sq Park.

I got the lad nah with vegetables and tofu. Very quick and fast place for lunch in between work and for a Thai craving fix. The ambiance is more of a to go spot than sit and dine it. Because of that I feel like the prices are a bit high. I paid around $17.50 for it which I feel like they can just do a lunch special for $12 value? Def paying for the Manhattan price. Quality of the food was okay, could be better. This meal was a bit too soupy.

When I'm craving for Thai Iced Tea during work, this is the place I run to. The service is quick and the tea is soooo tasty. $4.5 for a cup is not bad for my craving. Lol
Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Mar 9, 2023Previous reviewThe restaurant is most likely for take out. There's only one table with 4 seating in the middle and some spots with stool chairs on the sides. My coworkers and I were luck got the table for our lunch. I got one of Chef's Recommendation dish - Southern Style chicken. It was like ground chicken and very spicy to my standard. I had to keep eating it with rice to neutralize the spice. So if you are looking for a hot dish, I would recommend it.
The Thai Ice Tea ($4.50) is really good. The richness and sweetness is just about right. I asked for less ice but still too much in my cup. One of the coworkers also ordered the tea and complained about the same thing.
Based on my coworkers' feedback, they are satisfied with their Pad Thai. I will try that next time.
The price is considered a bit high in my opinion. I used to get Thai Iced Tea with same quality from food truck in LIC for $3. But I guess the price is normal given the fact it is located in the middle of the city. - Puspita E.New York, NY153181Jul 8, 2023
Food/Drinks: I got the Pad Kee Mao from here and I absolutely loved it. The noodles had the right texture and the flavors were incredible. There's a nice sweetness that I like to the noodles and the chicken was cooked perfectly as well. I also really liked the vegetables as they enhanced the flavors of the dish. I've never seen tomatoes like this in other Thai spots, but I genuinely enjoyed the color and taste it brought out of the dish.
Service: I had ordered online pick up and it was ready to take soon after I arrived. The workers were timely and kind. They asked questions to make sure we got everything we needed and were very patient with us as well.
Ambiance: It's a cute little shop around Flatiron District, which I wish I knew existed earlier. I enjoyed the small-town vibe I got from the store as well as the tables out front. I feel like there's a theme going on with the place, but I really like it.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
