This was the new restaurant of the week and a longtime bookmark that I finally got to because they open at 3pm which is too late for lunch and too early for dinner. Working a 9 hour shift with no break was the perfect time for me to stop over because I would be hungry. I could never place this restaurant even being familiar with the area and spending time at both bars around it. Ok it's in the Best Western Hotel basement with a small sign under the big BW sign.
The decor is pub looking with a nice wood bar, tables and booths. The guy bartender was super friendly and one of the few who knew what a Gin Rickey was with out asking what it was. The Gin Rickey was made with a craft Gin and very good surprisingly, probably one of the best in recent memory. The menu has all the pub favorites but the ribeye steak with two sides was only $20 which is reasonable in todays times but I wasn't expecting much because breakfast restaurants have crap cuts for steak and eggs for more money. I ask for rare which gets F up all the time with red meat.
My steak didn't take long and my sides were Yukon gold mash potatoes and vegetable medley. The ribeye looked amazing with nice grill marks. My 12 oz steak was cooked perfectly rare with an ah jus on the side. OMG the ribeye was so delicious with a nice charbroiled grilled flavor and moist. The mashed potatoes where good but needed seasoning. The vegetables were cauliflower, squash, Lima beans, carrots etc that were mush to Al dente depending on the vegetable.
Overall I'm completely impressed with this basement pub because I hand a great craft cocktail and a tasty steak dinner for $30 which is un heard of today. This is now my official bargain steak restaurant.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 100230391Nov 25, 2022
I'm not sure this place would be on my radar if we weren't staying at the attached hotel. That being said the food was great.
The ambience is a mix of empty post covid hotel bar and local watering hole. It's an odd mix of hotel guests left to seat themselves without any attention from staff or signs to that effect, and locals that belly up to the bar. The locals are clearly their bread and butter as they receive the staff's attention.
However, the pizza was surprisingly good. Balanced toppings/crust/sauce. Sauce was very plain, it tasted like plain canned tomato sauce without any attempt to fancy it up but I'd rather have plain than the sugar sauces that so many places tend to do. We went with the meat madness which is sausage, pepperoni, bacon and ham. I learned ham does not go on pizza lol but you live and you learn that's not their fault.
The hit of the meal was the pizza fries. We all know it's just dough fried and doused in parmesan garlic butter. This place absolutely nailed it! Crispy borderline greasy translucent bites of pillowy deliciousness. I could've eaten a whole other order. I can only imagine how much better they taste while have a few drinks and watching the game. And for that drink I'd recommend the old fashioned. Since we are in Wisconsin I was asked sweet or sour: that means brandy or whiskey. I went with the Wisconsin tradition of brandy and it did not disappoint.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Darin L.Iron River, MI751414Jun 9, 2023
My wife and I were guests at the attached Best Western Plus (for the second time) and decided to give these guys a whirl. We are super happy that we did! The bartender was fairly new but she made a pretty spot on Whiskey Old Fashioned Press. We started out with their Italian Fries w/ pizza sauce. Never had anything like it before. We could have ate them all night! So Flippin good. Would be awesome if served with a cheese sauce or a variety of sauces. Sara enjoyed their Naked, Bone in, Wings with Buffalo and Chili dipping sauces. They were cooked to perfection: Crisp on the outside and Juicy on the inside. I opted for the Frisco Burger. I ordered medium-well and added grilled onions ... that's exactly what I got. Whomever is in the kitchen has their s@&t together! We sat at the bar so we could watch the hockey game and it was very comfortable. They recently installed the bottom filling beer tapper system and have 24 beers on tap! Great place and we will definitely be coming back!

We used to frequent National Pizza Pub and Grille years ago and went to get some pizza due to a Groupon I had and let me tell you, it was terrible. Ordered 2 pepperoni, a sausage pizza and breadsticks and the only thing edible was the breadsticks. Pizza tasted slightly worse than a Jack's pizza with the crust soggy and not all the way done. Cheese tasted fake and sauce was limited. With the Groupon my bill came to less then $8 a pizza and I felt I overpaid by allot. Will not return

This was my first experience at a pub in Wisconsin.
I had been expecting a higher quality of food, as both the restaurant's owner and bartender strongly recommended this location's Italian Pizza Fries, exclaiming that they were both individuals' absolute favorite anywhere.. and this may be the case after they had downed a couple brews.
Upon consuming the pizza fries, I had difficulty chewing them, they were completely tasteless and bland, and if anyone reading decides to order them, I hope that the restaurant provides enough marinara to last for the whole order. Though the pizza dough was sprinkled with Parmesan cheese, was light and crunchy, and thoroughly fried, I really would've appreciated more marinara sauce.
I was given a copious amount of pizza fries, for which I am grateful, and I deduce an important message after visiting National Pub and Grille. -- Pub food will most certainly be pub food, and for $8.45, I know that I received the quality that I payed for.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Heide H.Waukesha, WI76377Jul 6, 2022

This is my first time ordering from here! I love deep fried pickles and these taste like they are straight from the state fair! I couldn't help but eat a few before snapping the photo! Rueben sandwich and fries were also very good! Food came hot and crispy, and price is very reasonable! Will be back for the French onion soup and a calzone! Thank you for being open during this pandemic!!

I am so annoyed with this place! I ordered online, my order was delayed several times and the deliver driver called me to cancel the order because they had DROPPED my order on the floor, attempted to pick it up and have her deliver it. I've never been more disgusted with anything in my life. The driver was disgusted and upset. How many people have eaten food off of the floor from this place. How dare a restaurant that you pay good money too try to feed you food from the floor!

I ordered through Door Dash last night (02.20.18) and it came when it said it was. When I opened the giant pretzel, it was burnt, it was so burnt to the point you couldn't even see the Salt anymore. Then I opened my pizza and it looked fine. I ordered the Bacon Cheeseburger Pizza w/ no Bacon. I took a bite of the pizza and it was just okay. Very bland, not much sauce. It needed onions on it. I did enjoy the Pickles on the pizza though. I also did enjoy the crust as well.
Will i order again from National Pizza Pub and Grille? Probably not. Will I try eating at the restaurant, Yes. I think it would pretty decent if I dined in.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
