One Saturday night after work I wasn't sure what I was going to do, I didn't have my son. I checked with my friend from church before going out to see if he needed media ministry help. Most of the time he isn't at the church after 5 on a Saturday but I like to check sometimes. Another friend wanted to come here to see streetfighter the rolling stones tribute band. I'm not overly crazy about the rolling stones but I'm open to checking out stuff I'm not too familiar with and getting exposed to new things. So I told my friend I'd go with her.

I think they are open to the public after a certain time so if you aren't a member you can still stroll on in. Smart move on their part because they'll get extra business that way.

I wasn't too much of a fan of the band playing but it was really nice to be on the beach hearing some music that part was pretty awesome. I walked down to the beach area to check it out.

My friend wanted to eat and I didn't have a lot of money so we shared a pizza. She picked the toppings. Many times I'm a people pleaser. I just don't want to get into an argument and will comply with the wishes of others pretty easily if I am okay with it so I let her pick the toppings.

Overall it was a nice experience being here and I would come here again especially if they had a band I like better than the rolling stones tribute band.

I would give this place zero stars , but the review requires a minimum of one star. I saw online that they were doing a luau style dinner with hula and fire dancer performers. I made a reservation for Saturday night. We arrived a little early, the hostess gave us a Lei and sat us at a table. She told us that a waiter would be coming by. Fifteen minutes later, the hostess saw that we had not even gotten a glass of water or a menu. She asked if anyone came by. We told her no. Another fifteen minutes go by and still no waiter. We decided to leave and go to a real restaurant. On our way home from a delicious dinner at Beginnings, two hours later, they call us accusing us of walking out on the check! I tell them what happened and then the manager calls and wants us to pay for an open bill! Not worth even one star! Go to Beginnings, great food and fantastic service.

Wanted to book a day for my family and let's just say long story short.. for 1 day. You'll have to pay an arm and a leg. All of which was NOT explained to me before the day of. Highly disappointed on how things are run if you're not a member of said club and just looking for a day out with family and friends at their establishment...

Everyone says the food here is not good. I thought the crab cakes were awesome. The ny burger phenomenal. Service can be a bit dicey. Drinks were okay. A bit pricey for the pour. Watched some good live music and danced under a gorgeous sky.

This review is (basically) for the restaurant and bar only...mostly bar.

Sometimes things are not exactly as they seem. Well, you can't tell me there isn't a beautiful private beach right in front of your eyes, because that much is true about New York Beach Club. Everything else seemed a little...off.

After experiencing what NYBC had to offer at a Yelp event only a week prior, I returned yesterday (after 6 o'clock) with my girlfriend. The place had put enough of an impression on me that after spending a day in Island Park/Long Beach, it was worthy of the slightly farther drive into Atlantic Beach for some further ocean love. What we got was something a little different.

Just like it was stated, once 6PM rolls around you can enter the New York Beach Club without being a member to enjoy the restaurant and bar. No one was at the front greeting us like the other night so we strolled in and down to the restaurant area. I wasn't sure if we'd be eating, but I knew we'd at least come in for a drink and some beach views.

The restaurant setup didn't have any hostess or person to stop and ask for what to do so we headed inside and grabbed a seat at the bar. I immediately saw a can of Bluepoint Summer Ale sitting there so I knew that would be my drink of choice. I told my GF to try the banana daiquiri that I had tasted the week before. The bartender stated "We were only making that drink for that night." Huh? So you're telling me that you were showcasing your food and drinks at the event, but what you made then wasn't something normally available? Talk about misrepresentation. That made me wonder about what else could've been a one night deal. I didn't outwardly do anything about this, but that definitely didn't sit right in my mind.

Instead, my girlfriend got a piña colada that the bartender offered to put a little banana liqueur into. A nice gesture and probably a good idea as the drink didn't have much flavor other than a tiny hint of banana. There was no coconut taste and my GF said it best, there was a chalky aftertaste at the end of each sip. Luckily/nicely, NYBC has a happy hour on the weekends until 7 so our drinks were $3 and $6. Even so, her drink wasn't worth that discounted price.

While sitting there, I noticed the burnt out interactions the bartender had with other people. She seemed a little stretched on responsibilities other than mixing drinks so we didn't bother/feel comfortable saying anything about the tasteless drink. Beyond that, the restaurant was set up for buffet style eating at $27 a person. This wasn't too appealing to us, and I could've asked to see if there was a regular menu available, but neither of us were all that hungry anyway. There was some live music playing, albeit the band's song choices didn't set that beach mood. It was more of a dive bar kind of set list. Everything just gave off a vibe of unwelcomeness. Once I finished my beer, we were more than ready to vamoose and take a walk on the beach away from the odd feelings of the place.

Overall, New York Beach Club pulled out all the stops for us when it mattered most and that brought me back, just like a business that hosts an event should...but what we received this time around wasn't the same. I've returned to restaurants after an event and have had great experiences so I don't know what happened here. Maybe the hospitality, service, and true quality is seen earlier on during the day for true members, though who really knows? All I know is I wasn't too impressed beyond some happy hour drink prices and the beach location. I'll take the law of averages and say a third time could be the charm, but I can't say that'll happen anytime soon.

The only thing going for the restaurant is the beachfront location. When we got there we had to wait to be seated. The only table was near the dj. At the time he was playing dinner music so we did not mind being near the speaker. The problem was the dj started playing pop dancing music and it was so loud and annoying.
They serve the drinks in plastic cups.
The servers were very nice but service was so so slow. They said it was because there was a big party that they were attending to. They are not very organized there.
The food was very bland and unappetizing. Reminded me of hospital food.
Then on top of this we parked out in front and got a $50 ticket!

Review is based on their Restaurant

My family decided to host an evening here on Sunday. The invitation was enticing: sit along the beach, feet in the sand, band playing...

The evening started out ok. It was a bit hazy outside but we sat outside and were enjoying the band with some drinks.
Suddenly, it began to rain and it seemed like the staff broke out into chaos! They didn't seem to know how to handle the rain and getting all of the parties inside or under cover.

We were a large party of 9 people and when we were finally able to be seated inside it was stifling! It was very warm and humid. They brought out a few fans but that was barely able to handle the situation. The enclosed area is not made for air conditioning etc.

The service was atrocious! I really hate to say that but it is true. Anything we requested took double to triple the expected time of arrival. Not that that this was all dependent on our waitress BUT we were informed that it was our waitress's first day. Why would you give a large party to a new waitress? Anywho, when the food finally started to come, it arrived in fragments. Some people received their salads while others had not. Specific requests (ie: light on the dressing ) were not met. The lobster macaroni and cheese came without the chunks of lobster!!! The baked clams we ordered were like none I have ever seen. They looked like little balls of odd colored breading sitting on top of a shell! I believe they were frozen and then thawed..not good at all. For my main entree I had the chilean sea bass which tasted slightly fishy and not worth the price.
Please keep in mind that NOTHING on this menu is reasonably priced and it all should have been delectable.
Needless to say I was not impressed.
Why the 2 stars instead of 1? I believe the staff were doing their best and had it been nice out the ambience would have likely been much different. I am sure the food would remain as deplorable though.

This is the second year with the new owner and he still needs to iron out some issues: specifically the restaurant!

July 4th weekend is one of the busiest weekends of the summer and the weather has been stellar however the restaurant cannot handle the volume and it needs to get its act together quickly or this summer could end up being a huge loss. Examples:
On Sunday we went to the snack bar to order lunch however most of the items were crossed off - we walked over to the shores instead!
On Monday morning they had run out of milk for the coffee and, instead of running out to get more, expected us to make do with half and half
We were thrilled that mystic was playing Monday night and quickly made reservations for dinner - here's where it goes horribly wrong: we arrive and the waiter told us they were only serving a bar menu - we should have been told this when we made the reservation! Again, extremely limited menu. It took forever to get the drinks (and food) and, when we wanted a second Bloody Mary they had run out of the mix. The staff were all saying that they were unprepared for the volume....note to restaurant: either act like one or change what u r doing!

Also, another idea is to give the cabana boys $1 for every order thy bring to the snack bar - this may help the snack bar enormously.
