While in PA for the day to pick up a car with my boyfriend, we decided to try Nonna Rosa on the recommendation of the salesman at the dealership. As someone who comes from an Italian family with their own restaurant, my boyfriend knows good Italian food, and we were not disappointed! We had the calamari, bruschetta, carbonara, and casarecce siciliano, and everything was absolutely delicious. The pasta is made in house daily, and the sauce tasted homemade. Our server, Megan, was kind and attentive. If we lived closer, Nonna Rosa would definitely be a staple for us. Highly highly highly recommend!

A lovely diamond in the rough!
Fresh pasta cooked perfectly, fresh sauce made to order, delicious mussels.
The staff so awesome!!! Answered every question (answer was always YES!)
My wife is an ALa Vodka sauce fan and said this is the best she has had in a long time. High Praise!

It's been 3 years since my last review/attempt with Nonna Rosa so I decided to try it again because maybe things changed, maybe I was too critical?
Nope. Unfortunately I feel disappointed again. We ordered four things: a wedge salad, a soup, a Stromboli and fried calamari. The wedge salad was odd. Sure it tasted like basic lettuce + ingredients. But they did not provide enough dressing (it was a tiny flat plastic cup for a huge salad). also, if you look at the image of the wedge salad it has a clump of bacon on the top and then everything else was on the bottom. Sure it might've fell off in transport but there were only 4 halves of grape tomatoes and barely any Parmesan that I paid extra for. The fried calamari wasn't all that fried and did not have enough batter on it. It was also rubbery! We couldn't finish it unfortunately. The Stromboli was not bad, but it wasn't the best. The only food item we bought that really actually tasted good was the creamy tomato soup with crostini.
I can't comment on the service or ambiance because we had it delivered. However, every time we would pass by the facility it looks like a lot of people are there eating. Once again, I do not recommend spending your money here when there's plenty of other great Italian restaurants at a lower cost around the area.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Nov 20, 2020Previous reviewNonna Rosa...or "No No" Rosa ?
Never had Nonna Rosa's food before but always passed it on 272 until tonight. Before we ordered online for pick up from here, we checked other reviews and they seemed pretty good. We ordered a pizza with the 1st half having green peppers, broccoli and ricotta and the 2nd half with mushrooms, sausage and black olives. We also ordered the mozzarella fritta and a side Caesar salad with grilled chicken.
The Pizza: All pizza toppings cost $0.65 each. We got gluten free cheese pizza ($16) with gluten free crust just to try ($5.00 extra). Online asked if we would like it to be crispy so we requested to have a crispy crust too.........Well as you can see from the picture I posted of the pizza and we received this subpar unusual looking pizza that was 1) completely unproportional where only about 1/3 of the pizza had the vegetarian toppings and 2/3 with the meat, mushrooms and olives, the crispy crust was just the exact opposite of crispy it was barely baked long enough to not completely split in my hand when picked up, also the pizza came uncut. Since when are customers literally given a pizza cutter to cut their own pizza? I am unsure if this is a new COVID procedure pizza places are doing, but at least the pizza cutter they gave us worked and I thought it was sort of cute. However, that does not take away from my overall disappointment I had for my pizza...the star meal of my dinner tonight... Overall, I give it a 3/5 rating. Not anything really fantastic, definitely not for 12" of a doughy crust priced at $25.
The Salad: A side Caesar salad costs $3.99 but with grilled chicken brings it up to $8.99. Yep, $5 up-charge for grilled chicken...I won't lie, the chicken was delicious and I don't regret it. Just really dislike the price. It's a SIDE salad...really, $8.99? I was expecting a gourmet small salad with that kind of price. The side salad overall tasted good, except...mistake #2 of the order I specifically requested for balsamic dressing and they gave me nonetheless Italian dressing. Not even Caesar because you know it's a Caesar salad..........they must've been confused but still went for Italian..interesting....? Croutons were tasty, lettuce overall was good, but just another silly mistake and not worth the price. I give this a 4/5 rating.
Mozzarella Fritta: These were OK. Weirdly had soggy pieces of purple lettuce under it that I couldn't tell if it was another mistake or an attempt for garnish. Had a little bit of a burnt or vinegar taste, I couldn't exactly tell but overall not bad. Probably wouldn't order again personally but worth a try if you're interested and like mozzarella sticks. Cost $8.99 which is pretty expensive considering I could probably 1) make it for far less or 2) buy mozzarella sticks for like 50% less elsewhere. I give this a 3/5 rating.
Dinner rolls: I saw these in the bag and was confused because all I could think of was this was like a poor apology for not having any Broccoli for my pizza and not having balsamic dressing in house. However, I'm not sure if the salad comes with bread...also not sure if that was a mistake either considering there were a lot of mistakes with our order this evening or complimentary.. but sadly, this was the best part of our dinner
Online Menu: the online menu is really confusing because it just lists the names and no description for anything so you're just shooting a dart in the dark with these pizzas that are just random names
Conclusion: Our total bill came to $46. That's wayyy more than I've ever spent on a takeout meal for just 3 items. This was overall just a subpar meal because of simple mistakes that could've easily been fixed. We don't know if we would try this place again in the future... we were just very underwhelmed and disappointed especially for the price.
*Update: my boyfriend just had a slice of pizza after it's been in the fridge for a few hours and he reported "it tastes better cold" - Todd T.Wayne, PA06Jan 6, 2024
We drove one hour in a snow storm to visit this restaurant.
First and foremost we were greeted in a very warm and friendly way.
WOW what a way to start off!!
Hailey was our server and could not have had a better person to take care of us.
Also one of the owners also greeted us like we were family.
Food was amazing ~ we even bought a gift card and a meal to take home for dinner.
If you are ever in the area ~ give them a try ~ you will not be disappointed!!!Helpful 2Thanks 1Love this 2Oh no 0 - Dec 8, 2023
Great find, recommended by our hotel as "the best Italian in the area". Dining room is warm and friendly. Service was fast and happy. Fair selection of wine and beer, and they offer full bar service if you are in the mood for a predinner cocktail.
My Chicken Parma was fantastic- too big to finish!! She had the Porto panini, great flavors and big enough for lunch tomorrow. No room for dessert.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - John M.Lafayette Hill, PA736Feb 16, 2024
Stopped in with family yesterday for dinner. For a Thursday nite..the place was busy. Ordered Spagetti and meatballs and the meal was excellent!
Family members all raved about the quality and taste. Even thou I'm from Philly..I'll be back for sure! Reasonably priced as well!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Lisa S.East York, PA442312Mar 15, 2024

I've gotten take out from here twice. Both times were excellent, though I did find it to be a bit expensive. HOWEVER, they do make their own pasta in house, which makes it WELL worth any additional cost. Last time I ate here I had the mushroom medley Alfredo, which far exceeded my expectations. It was truly delicious and one of the best Italian meals I've ever had. Next time I will actually eat in, to get the full experience.

We happened to wonder into Nonna Rosa Restaurant and were greeted by an incredible aroma of Italian food. The host Javier and ambience were very welcoming. The food was absolutely amazing
Everything we tasted was simply delicious, even their rolls were out of this world. From the starter to the dessert, the quality was outstanding. Their menu is extensive. Our server Ashley was also great. She was efficient, happy and polite. Overall we had such a nice experience and highly recommend Nonna Rosa. I would like to come back here again and again but we're from Jersey. But if I'm ever around PA, I would definitely be back to Nonna Rosa :)Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
