If I'm being honest, I am probably the worst sort of customer to move. I have lots of large weird things, I've lived on third floorwalk-ups, and I always somehow managed to move on the hottest days of the year. My small garage will overflow with boxes that defy the laws of physics for how they would have fit in the space to begin with.

Despite all of these things, I have a secret weapon. The guys at Not A Hobby moving have never let me down. I have used Not A Hobby moving for several moves over the years and I won't ever call anyone else.

They take time and care with my items, they go the extra mile to make sure everything is in the right place, and the value is exceptional.

I definitely recommend Einstein Movers over this company. They are more professional and have been around longer. Not A Hobby is a fairly new company, and it shows with their service. I originally started the booking on Thumbtack where NAH advertises their rate as $120/hr. I scheduled a move from a one bedroom, 1st floor apartment to the unit directly next door just steps away. The only items to move were a desk, bed, couch, and a few smaller pieces of furniture such as nightstands and a coffee table.

The manager, John Preston, called and asked me to cancel my booking on Thumbtack since they charge him a fee, so I did, and we set up the move over the phone. The estimate we discussed was for a $100 drive fee, and $130/hr for two movers with a two hour minimum. I didn't question why the rate went up $10/hr since NAH is a small business, and I prefer to support locally.

A friend in my complex is also moving - from a two bedroom, 3rd floor to 3rd floor unit in another building - and asked who I was using, and I told her I normally use Einstein, but since I had started the process with NAH, I would use them for this small move.

She decided to get an estimate and ultimately booked with them because they cut her a deal that was not offered to me. It was fairly small change - a $50 truck fee instead of $100. The truck will be needed for her move since it is to another building unlike mine where the movers simply carried the furniture next door.

When I called to ask if they would also offer me the reduced fare since the truck would not be used at all for my move, I received a condescending response from another of the managers - Matt Aubry. He talked around in circles about how their estimates work and repeated details that I already knew and understood and had agreed upon. My only question was why there was a reduced travel fee for a client I referred to their company, and he became argumentative and rude for some reason. He made it abundantly clear that he wasn't concerned about providing a modicum of customer service, so if the owner is willing to act like that, it speaks volumes about the company's integrity as a whole.

The move itself was fine. It took two guys an hour to make the move, and the total cost was $360. Well, it actually turned out to be $400 since the movers asked for a tip which I would have provided, but the awkward moment when someone asks you to Venmo them for just having completed their job was fun.

Our movers arrived right on time in the morning. They worked well, methodically moving the big stuff and the boxes and helping us break down some pieces. We met up at our new apartment 8 miles away. It was a third floor. There were some stairs involved. These guys again handled everything very professionally. There was no miscommunication and they were polite and professional. I'd use them again.

Matt and his team were great. not only did they get me out of a last minute bind, they did it politely, and efficiently.

We're remodeling 2 rooms in our house, so contracted with Not a Hobby to move furniture from those rooms into garage and other rooms in the house. Can't say enough how quickly and efficiently Cody and David relocated our items. This included a loaded freezer, two very heavy large glassed bookcases, a tiki bar, TV, furniture, loads of boxes and framed art. They had to remove two doors but still completed it within the 2-hour contract timeframe. They were on time and very professional communicating. I'm definitely contracting with them again to move everything back in after remodel completes. Good job, Guys!

From start to finish this company was awesome. Matt answered quickly and answered all my questions, getting the move set up on short notice. Andrew and K.J. showed up one day to pack, and the second day to move, on time and ready to go. They were careful and packed my items well, efficient in loading, and moved everything exactly as requested with no complaints or issues. Couldn't have asked for a better experience and I'll definitely be calling them again next time I need to move.

Fantastic experience. We ran into an issue with waiting on a wire transfer to actually physically move into the house and the guys were so patient with us. They had already loaded all of our belongings from our old home into the truck and were willing to wait a few hours until we got word that everything had gone through. It was a chaotic day for us all, but they rolled with it and were calm and courteous and busted their tails to get our stuff moved in as the sun was setting. I will absolutely be using them should we move again!

I have moved a lot through the years and have had tons of experience with various moving companies. These guys are the best experience I've had by far! I reached out to several movers for quotes/availability and within minutes I received a response with a very fair price. Per our request, we scheduled for their last spot of the day. While they did run slightly later than our scheduled time, which is typical when you select the last move of the day, they were proactive & prompt in communicating their e.t.a. and showed up in full-force with enthusiasm despite an entire day of doing other moves. These guys were super friendly, communicated well, listened to our concerns/requests and most importantly, very careful & considerate with our belongings taking all necessary precautions to properly wrap, secure large furniture items strategically filling the truck. Awesome experience! I wouldn't hesitate to contact them again if I need another moving company. Extremely pleased & highly recommend!
