Off the hook poke is a hole in the wall spot with some of the best poke on the island! It is located in Manoa so a little farther away from all the main tourist area but if you are able to make the trip then I would highly recommend the poke platter to try a little bit of everything. There is obviously a line here, and you can see it starting to form about 30 minutes before they open.
Food
I got the poke platter, which is a sampling of their 8 different poke they have. Perfect for a group of 2 and highly recommend getting a side of the rice with it cause it is saucy! The fish was all super fresh and delicious. Their signature is the ginger ahi which is ahi topped with a refreshing green ginger sauce. Their spicy ahi is also very good and I enjoyed their tako as well.
Atmosphere
This place is a hole in the wall literally. You wait in line on the street, order at the window, pick it up at the window, and then go on your way. There is no seating anywhere around.
Pricing
Poke prices here are average, or maybe slightly more compared to other poke places on the island. The quality of fish and flavors is worth it though.
Service
The workers are very nice and food came out fast.
Other
Take out only! There is no seating inside, or really anywhere around. I just parked at the Safeway across the street and walked over. There is a line that can get pretty ridiculous during peak hours. Also the weather in Manoa can fluctuate vastly compared to the rest of the island so I would bring an umbrella.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Apr 24, 2024
Off the hook is a walk-up counter style poke market. Parking in the back of the building or along the residential streets.
I ordered a regular poke bowl ($18.99) with brown rice but should've just gotten a mini since I may have gotten the same amount of fish.
The shoyu ahi was a bit salty but it was tasty and fish quality was good. The spicy ahi had a nice mild flavor.
Overall a solid poke choice!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Apr 18, 2024
First meal in hawaii!!
On the way to my friend's house we stopped for a quick meal and we grabbed some poke. I'll be honest, I was never someone to eat poke very often but over the last year or so, I have really been a fan of poke and find myself craving it fairly often.
I ordered a mini with Hawaiian style and spicy ahi with all the toppings and my goodness... was it good. So fresh and tasty with a flurry of flavors and textures. If this is any indication for my food journey in Hawaii, I will not be disappointedHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Kaipo T.Irvine, CA519161Apr 27, 2024
Favorite poke place on the island. Open later than some other poke places and the fish itself tastes amazing! Parking isn't too bad and chairs have been recently
added outside. Staff is always super friendly and kind. 11/10Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Andy N.Huntington Beach, CA4834170822139Apr 17, 20241 check-in
I kept seeing this spot pop up and had a few ppl recommend it. They have a sampler platter if you don't know what to choose. But I came here to try the ginger ahi. That was so good. It's like the ginger scallion sauce you use on Hainan chicken but on poke. And the poke quality was really good. There's no seating here as you order right in front of the door. The staff was very friendly and worked quickly. I would definitely come back again for the ginger ahi poke. I need someone to make me this on the mainland

A Take out only counter of fresh poke. They have different cuts of the tuna and sell it by weight.
Let me tell you, that wasabi poke was the star of the show for me if you like wasabi. The tuna was fresh. The flavors were on point. Probably one of the better poke spots I've tried in Oahu.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - Mar 13, 2024
Heard a lot about Off the Hook from friends and social media so I knew I had to try it when I was in Hawaii! Finding park was super easy since Off the Hook was located across a McDonald and Safeway so you don't need to worry about finding parking at all!
My girlfriend and I waited in line at nine since we didn't know if there was going to be a line or anything so we did it just to be safe, workers there were super friendly and nice! They came out and greeted us before opening up and set up a couple tables and chairs for their customer to sit down and enjoy the poke! So I thought that was very nice of them.
Off the Hook specialize in mostly Ahi and they have one choice of Tako! I really love that they focus mainly on Ahi so you know what you are getting and not have to think about picking another fish type. The sampler is the best option if you are indecisive! You get to try each options they offer and it's the bang for your buck!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mar 11, 2024Updated review4 check-ins
Off the hook poke market continues to be my go-to poke place! It was the first time to come during non lunch hours, but I liked it since there was no queue lol!
I also noticed that they setup a couple of small tables outside to eat.
Happy to report that their poke still rocks as well as their friendly service, and it's worth coming from Waikiki area...Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Oct 31, 2021Previous reviewI would give them the solid 5-star rating.
After reading good reviews online, I wanted to visit...and glad I did!
I got there few minutes after they opened, and there were 5-6 people in front of me. While I was waiting in the line, I looked up the menu online to decide what to order. The staff are so friendly and polite - I was already a happy customer.
After careful consideration (lol), I ordered cold ginger and shoyu ahi on sushi rice with all toppings. I got the mini size and it was plenty for me!
It was so good and I was hooked...I will be back! :) - Jocelyn R.Honolulu, HI661346Apr 16, 2024
One of the best places to go for poke bowls! We miss our friend's shop which was closed after Covid in downtown Honolulu and this place did NOT disappoint!
They offered rice or salad and you could add whatever poke you wanted with free toppings which made the crunch and eating like a lot more enjoyable.
Only trouble is the parking and the long lines because it's that yummy and popular!Helpful 2Thanks 1Love this 2Oh no 0 - Mar 1, 2024Updated review
In my recent visit I got my usual Hawaiian poke regular size. The price has gone up to $19.99 for regular and the line is still long. The poke was fresh and tasty.
However I have to emphasize that rice is as equally important for a rice bowl meal. Their rice is often cold and not steaming hot at all. To facilitate the transaction, maybe, they have pre-filled the containers with rice. However today I asked for them to give me the rice from the rice cooker and it was turned down. The woman at the counter simply felt the rice on her arm and claimed that it was still warm. I think it is OK when customers do not care if the rice is hot from the rice cooker but it is disappointing to turn down the customer request when specially asked.
The rice of course was lukewarm. It's really disappointing!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Dec 30, 2020Previous reviewWhen you get there often times you'll see a line. But don't be discouraged because the line moves fast. I've tried various poke don on the island and this is hands down the best place! I especially recommend their tako poke. It's miso flavored and tastes very fresh!
