Decent sports bar with pub fare and a couple housemade brews like the pilsner and the citrusy Pom Pom on tap. Burgers, sweet potato fries, fried pickle nickels, and Chix tenders all very tasty. Some served with "crate sauce," a light orange dip/spread with a slight kick and a nice complement to your food.
Order food at the bar and they text you when it's ready to pick up at the end of the bar. Under 21 can eat in there until evening sets in.
The place is a bit stark warehouse meets varsity locker room chic but it does the job, at a fair price.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - JJ G.Boynton Beach, FL59294509Mar 31, 2024
Complete garbage and Not impressed. The chairs and table along with barstools are very uncomfortable. Very generic atmosphere. Food is complete trash. Everything is basically cooked in grease. They were out of the potato skins, so ordered nachos instead pick through them. Also had an order of chicken wings that were overcooked and dripping of grease. They were wrapped up to go and I ended up taking one bite and tossing them out. They were so overcooked hard and just dripping with grease ordered two drinks that came in a 16 ounce plastic cup, and the ice melted into seconds. Yes, did the ice melt in your drink?"....again yes!

Crazy loud party bar unlike any of the other hundreds of craft breweries I've been to. We stopped in after the SU game in hopes of watching other college football games and enjoy somelocal brews. They did have a few of the games up on the TV's but crazy loud party music blaring and the noise of the college crowd made it difficult to actually follow any game. The bartenders didn't really know their own brews among the many other brands they also sell and we got 2 different answers about what they were selling of their own brews. It was elbow to elbow in the bar room and a fight to even get up to the bar to try and order drinks. The couple brews we had were decent but hard to enjoy in this environment. Perhaps it's very different on non-game days. We ended up leaving early and going back to our hotel bar to watch the rest of the games we were interested in following.

Subject: Unpleasant Experience at The Orange Crate Bar
I recently had an unfortunate experience at The Orange Crate Bar that has left me deeply disappointed with their service. As an armed service member, I expected a welcoming atmosphere, but instead, I encountered a hefty and imposing security guard whose behavior was both discriminatory and disrespectful.
Upon arrival, the security guard informed me and my fellow service members that we were not allowed to enter the establishment, except on game nights. This policy, which seemed arbitrary and unjust, left us feeling unwelcome. This treatment left me with a strong sense of discrimination and racism from this establishment.
What was particularly concerning was the security guard's insistence on checking our student IDs, despite none of us having them. I presented my military and civilian licenses, but the guard's disrespectful demeanor persisted. This individual's unprofessional conduct reflects poorly on the establishment.
Furthermore, it was alarming to witness multiple minors leaving the bar who appeared to be inebriated and barely able to walk. This raises serious concerns about the establishment's adherence to responsible alcohol service practices.
In light of these troubling experiences, I believe it is imperative for The Orange Crate Bar to reevaluate their policies and the behavior of their staff. Discrimination and disrespect should have no place in any establishment, and this situation warrants immediate attention
Shame on them.Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 0 - David M.NY, NY02Sep 7, 2023
Bought the Philly cheese steak sandwich. They put some kind of steak sauce in it. Not a good sandwich. Couldn't even taste the steak. Don't waste your money on this; without telling them to leave the steak sauce off. That would really improve the taste.
Ate the chicken wings. They were good.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Apr 6, 2022
Solid little bar with pizza and wings. There seemed to be plenty of beers on tap to choose from. I had a couple IPAs and decided to go with the 12" pizza. I got it with sausage, mushroom and banana peppers. It was a solid pizza, and I enjoyed it.

This is a great bar for not only students, but locals to go to. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, they have set lots of regulations in place to keep customers safe and I have never felt uncomfortable going here. They offer great happy hour deals from 4-7pm, including deals on specific days of the week after 7pm! You do have to order food when you come so if you aren't hungry, get the fries for $6 because they are the cheapest thing on the menu.
The staff enforces wearing masks when you are not seated at your table and I have seen them approach people and tell them to put on masks. Additionally, if it is a busy night expect to wait a little bit for your food/drinks, but overall great bar!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Elias E.MD, MD02Jul 14, 2023

I think it was because we were in Syracuse during the Thanksgiving weekend but we couldn't find a bar for the life of us that was open except for this place.
The staff are pretty friendly here but you'll have to head up to the bar to grab refills. Drinks aren't super cheap as I would have expected only because this seems like the local college dive bar.
The place was empty and 30 minutes later is was absolutely packed with all kinds of hilarious people from Syracuse. I wouldn't really come back but if you're hard up for a drink post game and it's late at night, you could do much worse!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Todd M.Huntington, NY8101Mar 28, 2022
Cold beer and great wings and fries. However, be forewarned -- if you get the "hot" buffalo wings, bring a bucket of ice to cool down your lips. They are surface-of-the-sun hot. After eating three, I lost the will to live. That aside, they were very good. Just go for the mild or medium if you need to regain your vision in the next 48 hours.
