Osteria Grappolo

Decent spot to try out in Solvang. I am conflicted in my review as I appreciated their easy online reservations (most places in Solvang do not), easy free parking, and relatively good food. My main detractor was the pretty awful service.

After arriving the hostess was very friendly and welcoming. The review is really based on the waiter. We arrived for an early dinner at 5pm when it wasn't crowded (only about 3 other tables), but when we didn't order alcohol, he made REALLY grumpy face, asked us "ARE YOU SURE???", and that was the last we saw of him for 20minutes!

We later would take the orders of another table that came after us (and who did order alcohol) and tend to other tables instead. Eventually he came back for us to order, but we never were offered their free fresh bread when all the other tables had received it, and this is AFTER we felt bullied and got a couple glasses of wine.

Overall 4/5 stars for food (did like the Calamari dish, and several of the dishes had wonderful sauces). However poor service never goes rewarded, and I would try a different spot, or at least consider take out instead to not sour your evening.

Beautiful place to eat. Great ambiance. The risotto was so rich and tasty. The Malinese di Pollo was so good. Really juicy! Worth every penny. Ceaser was a wonderful waiter as well.

I am a vegetarian and the food is not at all good. I would not recommend anyone to go to this place. I understand that many places are not good for vegetarians but I asked the staff before entering the restaurant and they told the vegetarian items are available. On top of that the staff is not friendly, they were least bothered to ask that why I did not had the food and left almost everything. NOT RECOMMENDED!!!!!

Woww the restaurant owner replied that "vegetarians are not welcome". Now I can think if the restaurant owner have this attitude I am not surprised that the staff is more worse. Just a piece of advice to the owner that take these comments as the feedback to improve and not the other way round.

Must try for sure! This restaurant was very close to our hotel and had a nice large outdoor area so we decided to give it a try.
I ordered the bolognese but with spaghetti noodles and hubby ordered the lasagna. The bolognese was SO DELICIOUS; I wanted to eat the whole thing but the portion size was more than enough. My hubby raved about the lasagna. I wanted to try to finish my own meal but he made me try it and I'm glad I did. It too was delicious - the best part was the sauce that they add around it on the plate. I don't know what kind of sauce it is (maybe a vodka sauce?) but it had an orange color and was so tasty!
Service was great - they were friendly, kept our drinks filled and checked on us appropriately. The outdoor space was pretty with the nice lights and they had outdoor heaters to keep us warm. Wouldn't hesitate to visit again!

The lasagna! Get the lasagna. Vodka sauce is delicious and a good size. Mozzarella sticks were crispy and tasty.

Staff was friendly. Great date location.

We were so disappointed, We visited the Osteria three years ago.
We liked it so much we visited it two times in 5 days..
So the first place we decided to eat on this visit to Solvang was at Osteria Restaurant ..
07 Sep 2023....  ABSOLUTELY  DISAPPOINTMENT, We eat Milanese pollo (deep fried) and so dry we were unable to eat the dish.
the other dish we ordered were  Veal special. I was unable to chew the Veal, plus the sauce I am sorry to say I truly believe was out of a can or watered down with can tomato sauce....and the side of spaghetti was so over cooked I only took one taste...please note I gave this same restaurant 5 star last time...The special watermelon salad was good.....

Great food. We came here for lunch today, it was so good we came back for dinner. The food is amazing!!!! The service is bad. Tonight we sat outside for 10 minutes before we were ever greeted, asked for drinks or water or served bread. Once she finally came around, I had to get up to request more water and refill on sprite. We were just forgotten outside around the corner. From the beginning until time to get the check and pay the service was slow and inattentive.

But the food is amazing. The sausage sandwich and the pesto meatball sandwich will not disappoint. And tonight we had the Spaghetti Carbonara and that won't disappoint either. The food really is amazing.

The food was so good! It's great when you're part of a large group-you can try more items on the menu. I really enjoyed the caprese and carbonara.

We drove to Solvang around the latter prt if December and got stuck in crazy I-5 traffic. Was supposed to go to another restaurant but the place was packed. Good we decided not to wait and went across the street. This place saved us. We were the last few ones they added to the list. Good choice, food was great. Service was amazing. Staff was very attentive.

Cold atmosphere and really Cold food! Slow service. Dirty wine glass. Waited an hour to be served wine in a dirty glass and cold linguine and clams. Disgusting.
