Stopped in here for a late lunch today, and although the place is not very fancy on the outside, the service and my turkey and ham club was excellent, especially in house bread!
I will definitely stop here again when in townHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Aaron P.Dunbar, PA119206Dec 27, 2023
This restaurant reminded me of my time living in the city. This is a very small place that is family run by charming Jewish people. When you enter, they invite you to share life with them, get to know them, be part of the family. Mama Ava is an exceptional cook. Leah, who was managing the front end was incredibly friendly and helped us make our first order easy.
You cannot believe how absolutely awesome this place is. Came in and ordered the falafel wrap and the south African sweet potato soup. If I lived closer, I would eat here every day. It is exceptional. You will not be disappointed.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jan 4, 2024
I love this restaurant and have been several times. I am giving 4 stars instead of 5 because they changed location and this one doesn't have a bathroom. They told me to go across the street to the hospital so I just waited. I love the friendly staff here, the many vegan options and the cozy environment.

Great hidden gem. Was passing through the town on a road trip with my family and was surprised to see a kosher bakery and deli. Food was great. Very tasty. Staff were friendly.
I had the garlic lemon chicken sandwich. Wife had a falafel wrap. Kids had chicken schnitzel and a turkey sandwich.
Please go and support them. As you can imagine it can be tough being a kosher deli in this area.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - Sam M.Terre Haute, IN853124Jan 5, 2024
Very welcoming from the moment I walked in the door. Extremely helpful and patient, even for a sleep deprived zombie like me. The food was amazing, I mean really excellent. And did I mention friendly. I would eat here again even if the food wasn't as good as it was just to be treated so nice.
I can't wait till I'm in town again. I never give 5 stars but I was really tempted to here.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Leslie G.Albert Lea, MN211523Mar 20, 2024
Great family run business. Enjoyed some of the best borscht I've ever had. The za'atar wrap flavors were fresh and spot on! My husband enjoyed the turkey and corned beef. We were just passing thru the area but would definitely return if we were in the neighborhood again. Purchased some tasty baked goods to enjoy on the road.

We were driving thru Terre Haute on our way home and decided to stop for lunch. We decided to try something other than a chain and were so glad! The soup was absolutely AMAZING! My hubby had the chicken and rice and I had the chicken noodle. The broth was so flavorful and had large pieces of chicken. My hubby had "The Don" and had a ton of meat of great quality and fresh bread. I had the turkey guacamole and it had wonderful pieces of turkey, like thick carved turkey from an actual bird, not deli lunch meat. We were so happy we stopped. We also picked up a loaf of bread and the daughter of the owner was so nice in telling us how to freeze it if we don't eat it all right away. Such nice people and after talking with the daughter they really do try to make the best quality food, as they explained they would drive over 2 hours to get quality kosher matzah that they can use year round, instead of settling for easier to acquire supplies.

Again, on a road trip passing through I wanted to grab breakfast to go and this was on the way. I went here based on the high reviews but after going I'm left a bit confused..I tried calling after they opened, no answer, I tried ordering online, & I got a message saying they are not taking orders at this time. So I wasn't even sure if this place was going to be open.
I went in & explained the phone & online issue & the lady explained something about them changing online ordering hours due to her daughter recently having a baby. Anyways, I ordered an omelette w/corned beef & veggies & a side of potatoes (it came with it) and my husband got 3 eggs over easy w/ corned beef & potatoes. The portions were generous but it was the same as what you would get at a greasy spoon diner. They cooked the heck out of my husbands eggs, they might as well have been hard boiled, the yolks were light & powdery. Like I said it was a lot of food so neither of us finished our meals.
The main reason for my review being low is that the food was ok, communication was frustrating as far ordering ahead, I also felt the cleanliness of the place was not up to par & the star average is way too high for a place like this, it's deceiving.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 1Business owner information

Janelle, thank you for stopping in to OyVey! You are correct that we were a bit chaotic in July. This really is a family business and in July I had a lot of Family responsibilities. We were also getting ready to relocate which made for a very frustrating month. Please come visit us in again soon and hopefully you will see we are not just another greasy spoon. Be safe and take care. Shalom.

Great place to stop for some great homemade Jewish food that includes pastries, sandwiches, soups and entrees. The Lithuanian soup was fantastic and the warm pita style bread was perfect. Can't wait to try some other foods.

Thanks Richard. Lithuanian cabbage is a house favorite. Try the Borscht next time, it’s a lovely Russian soup that is sure to please. See you soon. Shalom.
