In the heart of Jacksonville FL and close to the river, this amazing gastronomic jewel can take you to the most delicious taste of a beautiful island in the caribbean called Puerto Rico. The service is enjoyable and very nice. The ambiance is very classic with pictures and art of different places of Puerto Rico. Thanks to all the personnel of Palermo for such a wonderful experience while spending time in Jacksonville.

This is my first visit on a recommendation from a Puerto Rican that eats here often and says they cook just like his Abuelita. My hubby is also Boricua and wanted to bring something home to him.
On the recommendation I got morcilla, and rellenos de papa for my hubby. I ordered the beef empanadas.
All were super delish. The morcilla has just the right amount of kick. The papas were in a log shape not a ball. They are small tho. The empanadas are the same size as the Goya disks as well. My hubby loved everything and so we cannot wait to go back to have a full dinner.
I waited 15 min for my to go order.
The staff was very friendly and helpful.
The restaurant dining room was immaculately cleaned and they played music as well.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jun 11, 2023
WONDERFUL food and equally wonderful service. I will absolutely be returning. This is what we got:
- Empañadas: we got a bunch, some chicken, some beef and a couple of the seafood ones (today it was crab). Each one was 10/10. The beef may have been my favorite
- Pork or Chicken Cubes (Masitas de Carne Frita de Cerdo o de Pollo): I got the chicken with the creole sauce , with rice and black beans. The flavor was perfect, however the chicken was very dry and over cooked in my pieces. But still tasty.
- Skillet chicken breast with the lemon garlic sauce. Very tasty, perfectly cooked.
-Tres Leches: perfect perfect perfect.
I highly recommended this place! They have so many options, everything is so fresh and tasty.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Feb 9, 2023
I love supporting local and this restaurant has been around for quite awhile, but just in a different location. The menu is full of variety and there's something for everyone. The food came out fast and was beautifully presented with tons of flavor. Oh the red beans and rice. YUM!
I brought my mom here and she said she really liked her porkchop, red beans and mofongo served with a small bowl of mofongo chicken broth.
I really enjoyed their version of the Puerto Rican Bistec (Bistec Encebollado or steak and onions) and the trio of empanadas. The side of sweet fried plantains with the savory flavors were the perfect accompaniment!
The service was outstanding, our waitress was so attentive and we never felt rushed. There's a ton of items on the menu that I want to try, but one can only eat so much. It's great comfort food in the OP area that's delish!
Save room for coffee and dessert!Helpful 15Thanks 0Love this 15Oh no 0Business owner information

I usually ONLY review places one time, as you can see I have reviewed this spot 4 times always for different foods and always a 5 star review. This time I am reviewing their thanksgiving meal they catered for us, we had the best most delicious Turkey, pigeon pea rice, fresh salad (at my request instead of their pasta salad) and dessert, honestly it's worth every penny, I appreciate them doing all the cooking on the actual holiday, most places cook the food the day before and you have to reheat, but Palermo goes above and beyond in their service and you get freshly cooked same day of thanksgiving! I will be ordering my holiday meal for Christmas and thanksgiving every year from them. Can't wait to go back for their chicken stuffed with sweet plantain covered with their goat cheese roasted tomato sauce, Good lord, I am sad they are closed on Sunday's because I am really craving their food
Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0Nov 5, 2023Previous reviewHow have I not given a review to them just yet!? This place has become a regular for us, this is without a doubt the best most authentic Puertorrican food I have found outside of the island as someone born and raised there I would give them 10 stars if I could. This place is impeccably clean, the bathroom is surgically clean, those are awesome signs for me. They are very popular as anytime I come I have to wait unless I come for lunch or call for pick up. Our go to is the chicken stuffed with mashed sweet plantains and we add the goat cheese sauce, the plate comes with fried sweet plantains and pigeon pea rice, my husband loves to switch the rice for their Trifóngo (sweet plantain, green plantain and yuca style mofongo) I recently ordered a kids plate for my child for pick up and I was blown away, I ordered yellow rice with red beans and pernil with 2 sweet plantains and a kids drink for $7.99 my child ate and had leftovers for the following day, I was actually very surprised at how much food it was for a kid! We have tried many other things and even ordered our thanksgiving meal from them last year, worth every penny! Best tasting Turkey around as it's cooked with all delicious spices, honestly puertorrican seasoning is the best and this place has gotten it right. I can't wait to go back soon!!
Oct 2, 2022Previous review10 stars to this location, I just love this family owned business, it is always busy but the staff is amazing and they are very communicative. They were short staffed yesterday, they had a flyer on both entrance doors leading to the restaurant letting guests know to please be kind should they notice they were short staffed. I had a reservation and even then had to wait 20 minutes but once we were seated we would have never known they were short staffed, food was coming out quick and perfectly delicious.
I can't wait to go back, the food is just simply divine and you are transported to the Caribbean with every bite. Best Puertorrican food I have encountered since moving to the states. It's a good thing they are almost 30 min away from me or I would be there constantly, meaning I would need to acquire some stretchy pants for all the eating I would be doing. Give them a chance, you won't regret it.Sep 26, 2022Previous reviewThis place deserves more stars than 5 when it comes to food. Having moved here from Orlando I was in search for a good Puertorrican Restaurant in the area and by chance stumbled upon this GEM! It's located inside a little plaza and while it looks very unassuming this place is AMAZING!
Place is impeccably clean and their bathrooms are equally clean, I always check out bathrooms as to me, a dirty restroom equals a dirty kitchen and this place was surgically clean.
The only negative was service was not as on point as it took too long for refills and to get serviced but man the food here is as if you were back on the island, I should know, I am born and raised in PR and have high expectations. I went with a larger party and every single person raves about their food.
The mofongo with roasted pork was perfection, the chicken breast stuffed with mashed sweet plantain topped with goat cheese and a sauce that could make anyone fall in love was the winner for me.
We had the big appetizer plate and everything was soo good, the kids had regular chicken tenders and fries and it was also good.
We will be heading back and I for one can't wait! Hardest part of going here will be deciding what to eat as everything we tried tasted divine. Yes, it was a gastronomical orgasm type of meal. I said what I said! - Julie C.Jacksonville, FL6028536Dec 5, 2023Updated review
This is a beautiful large restaurant tucked in the back of a shopping plaza. The food is OUTSTANDING we have visited a few times and each time deliciousness was served. The service is wonderful we have requested Ishmael as he is server of the year Imo. We will be going back very soon.

Julie C. Sorry for your bad experience. Come try us again in our new location. Thanks You
Nov 7, 2016Previous reviewThe service was good, the restaurant is clean and comfortable, The food is really good. My husband had the creole mofongo and loved it. I had the trio of pastale, pulled pork and a large dish of rice with pigeon peas. The flavors were wonderful. We ordered appetizers and they arrived after our meal was served so that was irritating the waitress told us the croquet stuff potato and empandas takes awhile to prepare - we wish she would have told us this when we placed the order and she left the decision up to us as we want appetizer first not during the meal. Even though the food was good my stomach did get upset on the way home. We will give this place another try and hopefully all will go well.

If you love authentic food and not the typical chain restaurant style dining you will add this one to your restaurant rotation.
What we ate:
Slow roast Pork with friend green plantains (tostones)
Delicious seasoned minced pork slow roasted and delicious
Skirt Steak (Churrasco a la Parrilla)
This is steak and onions, at first glance the steak looked over cooked, however once you take the first bite you'll realize how tender and juicy it is.
Saved the best for last
Seafood empanada
Made with real crab meat not the imitation stuff. Trust me get 2 of these:)
I enjoyed the experience here took me back to Puerto Rico.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Nat M.Statesville, NC119223Feb 10, 2024
If you're craving some good Puerto Rican food. This is the place to go. Their pork is SO GOOD. They have passion fruit juice and also sell Puerto Rican beer which is delicious. Medalla is nice and smooth. They also had a passion fruit alcoholic drink that was really good. They have some good kids menu options and some Italian fusion options that are really good. Everything tastes home made and flavorful. We always have a good time when we go and leave full. I recommend this place to anyone who is craving some Puerto Rican food in Orange park!

Palermo was an amazing choice for the family to have my birthday dinner!! We went on a Tuesday at about 6:30pm and there was no wait.
The ambiance of the restaurant was very welcoming and its inside something like an enclosed mall.
I ordered the catch of the day which was Mahi Mahi with garlic mashed potatoes and garlic sauce, everything was cooked perfectly and flavorful. My mom ordered the yellow rice and beans with a side of yuca fries and everything was great!
For dessert i had the flan and it was so perfect, full of flavor and fulfilled my sweet tooth. I will definitely go back.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 7Oh no 0
