Payless Chillum MD Locksmith

absolute worst. Overpriced and under perform. Called to replace two locks on my backdoor. Locksmith spent about 1/2 hour total. Asked me if I wanted to key locks to my existing key, without mentioning that he would charge $49 for each . Would up paying more than $400, almost $500, and would up with cheap, shitty replacement locks.
I will never use them again!

DO NOT CALL - AVOID this Company.
I deeply regret calling them before I read the reviews. 20 minute arrival time was actually an hour. Just as in one of the other reviews - I was locked out. Felt like a hostage as the technician kept piling on the charges. $275 for the Lockout service which consisted of 60 seconds of drilling my old lock - required no time and no "locksmith skills". $95 for the replacement lock ($25 at Home Depot). $49 to "re-key" the lock ... should be a free service with new lockset installation. And then the technician wanted to charge $55 labor for all of the above. I balked loudly and he immediately removed the charge - admitting to being seriously late to the call. And still the "Convenient low fee for the service call $15. which is the only thing listed on their ad online. Still a $334.00 nightmare.

My wife and I were locked out late at night and hastily dialed the first locksmith on Google. They are very nice on the phone and get a person out you right away, don't worry. All that was wrong was that we had the wrong key but he insisted the lock was broken and drilled it off for $275.

A quick search on Yelp afterwards revealed what I suspected. This place is a TOTAL SCAM.

I locked myself out of my house. Granted, these things happen to people. But $300 to replace a bottom lock is just all out rape!

A locksmith was dispatched to my residence and arrived about 30 minutes after I called. The operator told me it would be a $29 service fee and everything else depended on that. Upon arrival, the technician told me that it would have to be drilled off for $169 and $89 for a new handle. Oh, by the way, let's not forget the tax! Hell, I didn't even receive a follow up call to tell me that my payment had been processed. All in all it wad a grand total of $289 and while I am fortunate to have a job, I will have to write this off as an unnecessarily expensive lesson learned. One of those lessons is to find a cheaper locksmith because I swear I feel voilated from those prices!

my new home in maryland needed new locks and keys made because the old owner had given them out to too many people lol. I called Payless Locksmith and they quoted me a pretty fair price so i hired them. they came to my house on schedule and did a GREAT job for the price they told me.
