As an update, Thumbtack reached out to me directly after I left this review within the app (I found them via Thumbtack). I shared the same info as below with them, including my screenshot conversation with Port Baku Movers. As a result, I received my deposit back. I will still leave my rating as a 1 as I had to jump through hoops for a refund when the company should've provided one immediately.

Firstly, we apologize for any confusion caused by the appearance of our movers in the initial pictures we shared. The attire they were wearing at that moment was not their professional work clothes. We want to assure you that our movers are required to wear appropriate work attire, including proper footwear, during the actual moving process. We understand the importance of maintaining a professional image and ensuring the safety of our team members.
We would like to emphasize that communication is of utmost importance to us. Our team leads are fluent in English and are trained to effectively communicate with our customers. We make every effort to ensure that language barriers do not hinder our service quality. We apologize if you experienced any difficulties in communicating with one of our movers. However, please note that our second mover, despite not being fluent in English, has been a valued member of our team for over three years, and this is the first complaint we have received regarding his language skills.
Regarding the timing, we acknowledge that there was a delay of approximately 15 minutes from our estimated arrival time. While we apologize for any inconvenience caused, we kindly request understanding that minor delays can occur due to unforeseen circumstances. Unfortunately, we cannot provide a discount for a 15-minute delay. We hope you can appreciate our commitment to maintaining punctuality and efficient service.
We regret if there was any misunderstanding during our phone conversation. Our team member from the office reached out to address your concerns, but unfortunately, you declined to speak with him. I regret to inform you that our company policy does not allow for refunds of deposits in the case of last-minute cancellations.

Port Baku MoversJul 10, 2023Previous reviewUpdating my review with screenshots as a result of Port Baku's inaccurate response to my review. Upon arrival, I immediately shared my feedback and displeasure with their improper shoes. Port Baku's attempt to bring proper shoes to their workers would further delay my move and I was also not comfortable with Port Baku disclosing their movers had swollen legs from a prior move. Again, my move consisted of heavy items to include a king bed and mattress, floor mirror, peloton treadmill, peloton bike, daybed couch etc. As you can see in the screen shot, I was immediately offered a refund from Port Baku in writing and never received it. Again, bad business all around.

After sending pictures of all of my items and paying a deposit, I received a confirmation for moving services. The day of my move, they arrived more than an hour late and to my surprise, both movers were wearing SLIDES! My heavy items included a king size bed, a Peloton tread and a Peloton bike. One of the movers spoke zero English, which ordinary I would not care, however, how could I communicate what I needed move and where with someone who couldn't understand me? I immediately called Port Baku Movers to share my concern that I was not comfortable with their movers touching anything as they were not dressed appropriately. The person I spoke with shared that those movers had a late job the prior evening to which they didn't finish until 1am that same morning and were wearing slides because their feet were swollen. I stated that they should've not been sent to my house for a move if they were tired, had swollen feet and could not wear proper shoes. They offered to bring them shoes to wear which would've prolonged my move even longer given they were already over an hour late. I declined and offered a refund. As of today, they have yet to provide me with my refund. I do not recommend anyone to book with their company. They will take your money and send you inadequate movers. Poor moving company.

They were great! Very responsive, definitely the most affordable in the area. The movers were attentive but very quick to keep the price down for me. No extra hidden fees either. Definitely recommended!

DO NOT HIRE COMPANY: CONTACT POLICE AND DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE. They literally just forged a ton of documents to my bank and alternated emails. If you have a similar situation reach out to me because I am taking legal action. They are also under various different LLCs. I have all the local and federal agencies you need to contact if you encounter this scam artist. Please check your accounts and beware of cyber-attacks from them as well. This moving company is a rip-off and falsely advertised their ability to move a household of one. My items were severely damaged and took 11hours. I hired the company to move a one-bed room den apartment to my new apartment in WDC which is 14.7 miles away and 22 minutes duration in driving.
1. They were scheduled to arrive at 3:00pm but did not show-up until 5:15pm-5:30pm.
2. It was two very nice Turkish men that spoke limited English and had slides and flip-flops on that exposed their feet.
3. Due to them being late, I had moved all my 20 medium -large size boxes to the hallway beside the two elevators with my own professional dolly. They did not even have their own dolly, only a squared wooden roller. I had arranged my boxes neatly with heavy items on the bottom and light items on the top. They were all positioned up right because the boxes had a house imagine that illustrated what side was the top and bottom.
4. They were able to get the boxes completed very quickly with the help of my dolly however when they were outside, I noticed they were lifting the boxes to the truck due to there being two small steps. Oddly, there was a ramp 5 steps beside the steps and all they had to do was turn their truck around, so the back of the truck was facing the end of the ramp. I called their manager to translate to them to keep the space parking space but to turn the truck around. Due to them previously lifting the boxes on to the truck, this is when they rearranged the order of the boxes causing light items to be on the bottom and heavy boxes on top. I also noticed that they never took out the ramp part of their truck, due to their limited English I assume it was broken or not even attached to the truck. ...
5. It started raining and their manager called me to inform me that due to the heavy rain the men can't move items. They were not appropriately dressed to move and couldn't walk without sliding due to have inappropriate shoes.
6. The only furniture they had to move was a sectional that is two pieces, a media console that didn't need to be broken down, a desk that didn't need to be broken down, a light weight bookshelf that I already broke down, a table that didn't need to be broken down because it is a simple cross shape wooden base with a circle glass table on top, a queen size pottery barn canopy bed with mattress and box spring, a bed dresser, ikea bed rail and full size mattress and a side stable. The only thing that needed to be broken down was the canopy bed and the 65 inch TV from the wall mount.
7. I got a call around 9:45pm that the elevator was broken, and they only had the bed to bring down. When I told the manager I would be on my way back to the old apartment he then said that the men updated him and said the elevator was working.
8. The men did not arrive to my Washington DC apartment until after midnight after several calls inquiring what was taking them so long. The manager indicated that the movers were delayed because the elevator was not working but that was untrue because he had called me and told me the elevator was working and even if it wasn't, he had told me the only thing that was left to bring down was the bed and if that was being brought down the stairs it wouldn't take long because the stairs are extremely wide and my bed is not heavy when broken down because its only slates. The manager also told me the movers had to drive very slowly because the truck was full. Even if they were driving slowly, there was no traffic at midnight and again the duration on average is 22 minutes.
9. When they arrived at new apartment and opened the truck's door, I was in awe at the fact that my light grey sectional was bare, no plastic wrapping or cloth covering. It was laying on the dirty truck floor with other items on top and surrounding the sectional. My sectional is over $3000 from west elm and has never been moved since west elm delivered it They damaged the wood base of the sectional extremely; the light gray velvet is extremely dirty and has pieces of dry wall from hitting walls and being dragged.
10. The bed which is a $2000 Pottery Barn Farmhouse Canopy was extremely damaged. It is visible that the bed was being banged against items as they were transferring it to and from the truck. Again, this item was white gloved delivered to my home along with all my other items, upon purchase. They were not damaged prior, nor had they been moved from the time they were delivered. I was referred to Porto Baku Movers by a coworker who had used them mid summer. Based on her experience I was thrilled to reach out and get a quote for my October move. Not only did they have the best price around they had the best customer service I experienced. They were quick to respond, answer questions, and get me set up for my move. They arrived early and finished extremely quickly even having to put my bed back together (which has many pieces). I also appreciated how COVID aware they were especially as I moved in October. I went on to refer them to two other friends, one of which just used them and had another great experience. I will definitely be reaching out to them for my next move!

These movers are great! I've moved many times and this way by far the most painless move I've had. They were really responsive before the move, showed up on time, worked quickly and efficiently, were polite and friendly and were very careful with the furniture, house - all for a really good price. Highly recommended.

Highly recommend! They arrived ten minutes early, despite stormy rains just an hour before. They carefully wrapped our furniture and took care not to dirty our apartment walls. Very professional booking process. Best prices of the group we asked for quotes from. Would definitely use them again.
