Redink is THE place to go for all of your "cover up" needs.
I needed a name covered because my soon to be husband told me I needed to get this other man's name off my body before we marry and I was NERVOUS.
When I walked in the ladies at the front are super welcoming and everyone is hilarious, kind, and patient. My artist was Matias and he is the most gentle with nervous wrecks. He changed his technique to adjust to me being a baby and whining and flinching the whole time. I seriously gave him a hard time- but not on purpose.
Thank you Matias- I'll be back for my next tattoo.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - James K.Middleborough, MA477521Feb 24, 2024
Said they took walk in's and made us wait outside in the cold. Came out at 5pm in sunglasses told us too bad even if we had an appointment we'd have to wait. Plenty of open spots. Let his friends cut us in line. Basically told us to go F ourselves waiting outside in the cold

Holy fuck - stay away at all costs. Absolute worse tattoo I've ever had and now I'm immediately going to see a laser specialist to remove it.

The workers are really funny and the service is nice, if you come in for a tat they're not judgy and they listen. Never went for a piercing but based off observation they're very gentle and they talk you through it for first timers!!

Went to partake in the flash sale... arrived and there was a sign that said "do not walk in wait for someone to come out and get you" I was literally outside standing in the cold waving to the girl at the desk through the glass door, eye contact and all. After waiting for over 10 mins I called and had told the young girl on the phone that I was waiting outside and that I also had an appointment. Which then she responded " we'll come get you in a minute" she came out didn't even greet me it's automatically asked if I filled out the consent form. She then said fill it out and I'll be back in two minutes. Which I then again waited outside for another 8 mins before two tattoo artist that were going on a McDonald's run. Invited us to come in as they were walking back into the shop. Once I walked in the girl who I had original spoke to started chopping down on cheeseburger and Fries along with the two other 50-60 year old white men that were sitting in opposite ends of her. The girl her self was very unprofessional she kept demanding I pay before printing the stencil, which I had automatically said okay and had no problem with...so I don't know why she kept reiterating it. I asked how much for red ink bc ALL of my tattoos are red. She told me $20. Waited another 10-15 mins before they actually assigned a tattoo artist to me. He wasn't even the one I selected for when I booked my appointment. The girl who neglected me out in the 40° degree weather, with a scheduled appointment, who was also stuffing a McDonald's cheeseburger down her month at the front desk FAILED to inform the tattoo artist that I PAID extra for RED INK. When I got up and told the three workers at the front desk he replied with " you can easily get that lasered off" NEVER did I receive an apology. He was like " we all make mistakes, I made alot of mistakes in my life" and was trying to make it seem like he was tryna help me out eve tho he knew it was that young girls fault. And when they gave me my money back, the girl had the nerve to ask the guy "all of iT?" as if she wasn't the exact reason for why I now HAVE A BLACK CIRCLE tattooed on my wrist. It literally looks like I drew on myself with pen. COMPLETELY unprofessional... from the waiting outside with an appointment, to the McDonald's eating at the front desk, to the lack of communication of information to their artist about their work. I would NOT RECOMMEND. That girl doesn't need to work there you can be so unprofessional and UNFOCUSED when dealing with things that are on people's bodies forever.

The last time I got a tattoo it was almost 15 years ago and the tattoo artist completely f**ked up the tattoo I wanted despite having a photo of it right in front of him. So I was a little gun-shy going in. But this was something I'd wanted to do for some time.
My husband on the other hand had been here once before, about four years ago, for something small. This time around he was getting something a little more delicate behind his ear.
Suffice it to say that our tattoo artist, who is also the owner, was amazing and very careful to make sure we were getting what we wanted, exactly as we wanted, before he started.
Clearly, he's been doing this a long time and knows his stuff. He even gave me a few suggestions on what could be done to cover up and salvage the now faded tattoo from a decade and a half ago.
Hands down a great experience. And, I'm very at ease about moving forward with having something more extensive done.
I don't really know what tattoos go for ... but even if it was a tad pricier, you get what you pay for. What we got was quality work that looks good.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

PLEASE READ! Do NOT go here.
I've been getting tattooed for over 17 yrs and there are just some things you have to draw the line on. On this day, I had 6 fresh tattoos healing because I had just gotten work done earlier in the week, elsewhere. I'm not a novice here.
1. The flyer I saw for the event did not state cash only, but no big deal, my bank wasn't far. Upon coming back, some blonde man, yelled at me from down the block to light a fire under my ass.
2. They list price options as $50, $90, $160, $249. I can only describe the pricing experience as haggling. The shop boy trying to convince customers to lose details in their tattoos, shrink it down, make it bigger to make it more expensive. He told me that my outline tattoo, on a normal day would cost double. No, it wouldn't. He also tried to tell me, that because there were numbers in my tattoo, it would be considered 2 tattoos.
3. While waiting, the blonde man called a man who was waiting and asked to see his design, which I believe was a lion's head and crown. Blonde man asked his budget and when the man answered he responded "WHAT?! If I bring this in there, they're gonna kill me for that price. Can you make it $300?" Which wasn't even listed on the flash list. He then took the image and walked into the room yelling out loud asking if any of the artists WANTED to do the tattoo? Very loudly, "LION and A CROWN ANYBODY? NOBODY? YOU DON'T HAVE TO IF YOU DON'T WANT TO." An artist followed him out to talk with the client and the entire time the artist was trying to explain why the image needed to be tattooed larger, he was hovering over their shoulders, pointing and cutting in.
4. When booking the appointment, an artist is assigned to you with the appointment time. My artist assigned was named Edgar, whose work I looked through to ensure I would be comfortable with. This was NOT the artist given to me when I arrived.
5. She led my wife and I downstairs to a very springy old couch where we could wait for her to make the stencil. I'll insert photos of where we were sat. I then realized this is where she intended to tattoo me as there was a small tray set up. I did not see a box of gloves, I did not see ink, I did not see plastic wrap, I did not see alcohol any cleaning supplies really. No bandages, gauze, anything. It was clear that this was not the space where tattoos should be done.
6. The artist tried to convince me to change the location of my tattoo to my arm, because the chair that I was supposed to be sat in was a worn out cracked leather OLD OFFICE CHAIR. There was not a tattoo chair. Just an old office chair, fold out chair, armrest and a tray I did not get to see my artist set up. The area I wanted tattooed was a flat blank area inside my calf. I no longer felt comfortable getting tattooed here for fear of cleanliness. I did not sign up for a basement tattoo by an artist who didn't even seem confident in speaking to me.
7. I didn't want to cause a scene and deter anyone else's experience, so I went back upstairs and walked up to my artist and asked her what I could do if I changed my mind. She was automatically confused. Blonde man was near and loudly asked me what was going on. I informed him that I changed my mind on getting a tattoo and no longer wanted to sit. He loudly asked why. Still remaining low toned I tried to explain that I didn't feel comfortable with the setup. He automatically answered "WE'LL GET YOU ANOTHER ARTIST THEN" which bothered me, because I said nothing to him about the artist, who was still standing there. Repeatedly he asked me why I didn't wanna get tattooed and was raising his voice about it and arguing back insinuating I didn't want the artist. I eventually disregarded him and turned to the artist and told her "This has nothing to do with you as an artist or as a person. It is about the shop and the set up and this. I don't feel comfortable getting tattooed here." And she understood, although she seemed nervous since the beginning, but we smiled at each other. Then I hear "FINE!!" cash shuffling and he handed me back my money.
It shouldn't have been an argument for simply changing my mind. I never even saw the main room. The entire vibe, hearing how the owner spoke to potential customers, hearing and experiencing them trying to convince the customers to change their work, and for what? The place wasn't filled with people, there wasn't a line out the door, there was no crowd. I would never in my life ever let anyone take a needle to my skin or even place a stencil.Helpful 9Thanks 2Love this 1Oh no 1 - Roger C.San Francisco, CA031Jul 17, 2022
I walked by here late on a Friday night and decided to stop in to see if they were interested in modifying a tattoo I have across my lower back that covers a surgery scar similar to a tummy tuck, but just the back. I am not unhappy with the tattoo, I like it, but I have some ideas on how to improve it to further hide the scar. Plus, I have two "portal" scars right beneath it that I thought could be quickly covered with a star or something quick.
The artist they had me speak with was great. We started to brainstorm and they had ideas to improve the original tattoo and embellish the tatoo to extend it down to cover the portal scars. To be honest, I didn't like the pain of getting a tattoo, so the thought of adding more didn't thrill me, but they seemed to know what they were talking about and was kind of excited about the possibilities which I found infectious. They had some other ideas to improve the tattoo as well which I figured I'd go with. We decided to get started the next day, Saturday.
6 months ago I paid $600 for the original tattoo, which took 3 sessions. I also tipped of course, so I probably paid a total of $800. I was shocked when the owner of Red Ink informed me this would cost between $600 and $800 for the touch-up. It didn't make sense to me since the labor would only be a fraction of what went into the original, so I figured this artist is going to turn this routine tatoo into a masterpiece, so I agreed, figuring it would be $600 because most places don't charge more than $200/hr for their best artists and I knew this wasn't more than 3 hours of work. How could it be??
When I got home, I realized I had committed to a fundraiser on the Hamptons given by SAGE. I pre-paid $300 for a ticket, which of course is ok since it was for charity. I had also paid for the Hamptons Jitney roundtrip. My fault. I figured I just couldn't go to the Hamptons and would get the tattoo I committed to. I remember the artist saying that Saturday or Sunday would work, so I figured I'd ask if would be ok to postpone to Sunday. I called RedInk pretty late -- around 10:30.
A woman answered the phone. The artist had left for the day. I explained to her my predicament and said I would just not go to the Hamptons. She said my appointment was not yet on the books, and it would be NO PROBLEM for me to come Sunday instead. I profusely apologized and said I could cancel, but she said not to sweat it. She would tell the artist and put it in the schedule for Sunday.
THE PROOF I MADE THE CALL IS ON THE ATTACHMENT TO THIS REVIEW. A 2 MINUTE CALL AT 10:43 pm.
The place has two floors. One is ground level and the other subterranean. I got there around 12 Sunday and rang the bell. No answer. Rang it again. No answer. Hmmm. This didn't make sense. I went upstairs and saw people milling about! I made eye contact with a burly gentleman who I have since learned is co-owner. He looked at me, as if to acknowledge he knew I was ringing and he proceeded to drink his super-sized soda or coffee and ignored me. I went downstairs again. Rang the bell. No answer. Rang it again. No answer.
I go back upstairs, see my artist and make eye contact with the co-owner. He finallyl swings open the doors and yells, "The bell didn't ring!" Huh? If the bell didn't ring, YOUR system isn't working correctly. Why would I stand downstairs and not ring the bell? That makes no sense, but that seems to be what he was arguing with me about.
So, I went downstairs again. The artist met me at the door and I could tell he was perturbed. The woman never told him I rescheduled! I apologized profusely. He had waited for me all Saturday. But she told me she was going to leave a note and make sure he knew. She was even there on Saturday and said nothing to him about it.
He understood and told me to come back at 5. I called at 3 to make sure we were still on. The woman who answered the phone said, "yes, he is here at 5." I asked her to make sure he was on schedule. I wanted to make sure we were aligned. I don't think she asked him what I told her to, because she came back with, "yes, he is here at 5."
So, I get there at 5ish and he tells me the owners want $900!
I am sure there is no reason for me to finish this review. I dodged a bullet is all I can say.Helpful 7Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - Devan C.Gilbert, AZ04Jan 15, 2024
Came in for an eyebrow and sharkbite piercing. For the eyebrow Ava KILLED it. She placed it exactly where I wanted it and I barley felt anything! For my lip I had Red and he did great as well. Both perfect! Great shop and super friendly people definitely coming back!

Decided to get some spontaneous piercings late at night during our trip to New York and saw that this studio was open and had pretty good reviews. The vibe was pretty cool, but above all Serge was an amazing piercer. Not only did he answer all of my questions and give me advice regarding the piercings, but he also recommended the best spots and great after care. Both my friend and I got our piercings done by him (I got 4) and they were honestly the most painless piercings I've ever gotten. You can tell that he knows what he's doing & it shows. He even took an adorable polaroid of us too & gave us spots recommendations to check out too. Definitely recommend him for all of your piercing & tattoo needs!! Thanks again Serge!!
