With respect to CakeLove, Reeves is not only the best bakery in the city..it is the oldest. It has been around since the late 1800s.
It is part diner, part cafe. You can either stop in for a down home breakfast of sausage, grits and gravy or perhaps the amazing French toast.
As good as those options are..my faves here are the pies. The strawberry pie at Reeves is famous-- and well, it should be. The crust is oh so flaky and the filling is berry, fruity goodness. The banana cream is also very good. You can't go wrong with either, and the slices are HUGE.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - M M.Austin, TX412119May 12, 2007
Okay, so, like, cupcakes are serious bidness, so let's get down to it.
It was late and they were out of the fancy flavors, so I settled for a good ol' yellow cupcake with chocolate icing. The counter people were super nice and cute and nice.
The icing was a pleasant surprise, a creamy good-quality chocolate, most likely ganache. Not piled high, but spread flat with some room around the edges, with a little crunch from the small pink sugar crystals. The cupcake was a little stale but still tasty, medium crumb, neither too moist or too dry.
I'm into it. I'd come back for more severe cupcakeage.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0 - Kathleen M.Atlanta, GA235816271470Jun 11, 2007
eek! Reeves is closed!
Apparently they couldn't work out a new lease with their landlord and are looking for a new location. Hopefully they'll find something soon...Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0
