Regal was highly recommended by our realtor when we purchased our home. After interviewing multiple general contactors and working with Regal on our full interior renovation for six months, we would definitely recommend this team for any future projects.
Ben, Cesar, and the entire Regal team were responsive, knowledgeable, and collaborative. We were a first-time home buyer and completed our first renovation. The team always responded within the hour or same day, provided constructive feedback in our design and OS&E purchases, located all required resources to complete the known and unknown tasks, and catered our timeline. You are not only getting a great contactor, but a trusted partner in the process.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

We hope you will enjoy your beautiful home as much as we enjoyed building it. - Nancy R.Studio City, Los Angeles, CA064Jul 24, 2023
I feel so lucky that I found Regal Construction and Ben to remodel my 70 year old family home. It needed quite a facelift and Ben, Cesar and their great crews helped me get there. They were always on time and respected the house. From the beginning I knew that Ben and I would work well together. He taught me how to speak "construction". If I had a question or needed an explanation he was quick to respond either by text or would meet me at the house for a walk-through. I moved in a month ago and am living in my dream home thanks to the wonderful guidance and great work from Ben and Regal. I will continue to recommend them to anyone who asks. I couldn't be happier.

Dear Nancy
thank you for sharing your experience , working together on your home renovation was a very enjoyable journey.
Fulfilling your dream home to reality is our pleasure! - Helen S.Los Angeles, CA113123Oct 12, 2021
Before hiring Regal, I met with and got quotes from about 5 contractors. Their pricing was about on par with most, but what stood out was their responsiveness and level of care. I also had been referred by a friend whose business works with them and she assured me they were reliable and stuck to their schedules.
I worked with Ben & Cesar and they were both easy to get ahold of and very helpful. The timeline allotted was about 5 weeks for two complete bathroom remodels, and I had already done demo. On the estimated completion day (the day I moved in to my new house) both bathrooms were almost completely done with the exception of the glass doors (which then came the next week)! I was very pleased with this having heard horror stories of other contractors taking weeks or months extra.
From the day after I signed the contract and paid the first installment, there was a worker at my house every single mon - sat. I never had to rush them or ask when things would be done. They were quick to reply to any questions and make any adjustments as the projects progressed. The man who did most of my tile work - Eric - was very careful and paid attention to details.
The end results are even more beautiful than what I'd envisioned in my mind! They took my ideas and brought them to life beautifully and I'm very grateful for the smooth and efficient experience I had. I've already recommended them to several friends.
Thank you regal!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

The results are amazing!

Ben and the team at Regal Construction did an amazing job for us.
We did a 3 phase project that started with adding a second story to a new house we purchased.
Ben started the process by connecting us with his architect that did a great job drawing and creating blueprint plans for our project. We added 650 sq.ft including a master suite, a bathroom and a big walk-in closet for my wife and I.
Next we did a complete kitchen remodel and reconfiguration for the powder room and entrance area. Lastly we renovated the entire backyard and added a big spa jacuzzi and a pool.
The team was very easy to work with and Ben was always accommodating and responsive, he kept us updated during the entire work per our request.
Would definitely recommend this knowledgeable team for everyone who is looking for a creative and professional company!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

I had a great experience with Regal and my family is incredibly happy with the work they did for us. We hired them for a bathroom remodel when we first moved in, and they were professional, efficient, and did an excellent job. I communicated primarily with Shaul, and he is professional and friendly. He answered every phone call, text, and question promptly, and worked with us every step of the way on cost.
I have overseen many remodels through my work and I deal with contractors regularly. The Regal team is a good one.
The negative reviews on here seem off base by my account, my experience was very different. Anyone who has worked with contractors on home renovations should know that an estimate is just that, an estimate. No matter their expertise, no contractor can know what might come up once demo starts and walls are being opened and floors torn out, etc. Home renovations never go exactly to plan, and it is quite unreasonable to expect a business to move forward with work without being paid for work already done. The day to day workers do not get paid salary and a business cannot pay their team if the clients don't stick to a payment schedule. Every worker who came to our home brought his lunch, and cleaned up afterwards, yes there is debris and things that pile up during construction, this is completely normal and should be expected during a project. Every project I have worked on, there are always details at the end that pop up once you are starting to live with the space, this is also standard by my experience, and anytime there was a little thing like a patch or an adjustment needed, Shaul was on top of it and scheduling someone to come out within the week.
During our first project with Regal, I was 9 months pregnant, and the team worked extra long hours to get the job done quickly. After coming home with a baby, there was a bit more to do, and the day to day workers did their best to work quietly as well as quickly. They swept up and kept dust to a minimum. The man who tiled our bathroom, Eric, worked late every night and even came on the weekends to finish the work. Shaul knew how important it was for us to have the bathroom remodel done, and he worked extra hard to make it happen. We were so happy with the bathroom that we hired them for our ADU conversion. It is beautifully done and my father in law is so so happy in his new space.
I would absolutely recommend Regal for your home renovations/remodel. We will be calling them for our next project for sure.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Adam R.Hermosa Beach, CA3419320Jun 22, 2019
We just did the whole main level of our house in Redondo with Regal and they were fantastic to work with. It's really difficult to find a trust worthy contractor, and we took our time making a decision. We were already leaning towards them, but Shaul took us to see another house they did fairly close by, and meet their customer which really sold us.
Workers were here on time everyday and left the place clean as could be expected, which was really nice considering we were living in the bedroom level. Our Forman Manny was great, super detailed, and made some excellent suggestions along the way.
When we hit a few snags Shaul was quick to work on solutions and keep the project moving.
Just a basic outline of what we did:
-All new up to code electrical & new main and sub panels
-New flooring through, and on stairs
-Total kitchen remodel with custom cabinets
-New laundry area
-Asbestos remediation and new AC ducting throughout
-Total bathroom remodel with custom vanity (which they made)
-Recess lighting
-New handrail & Gates
I definitely recommend working with Regal, check out our before and after photosHelpful 4Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Pip B.Culver City, CA434Apr 15, 2022
There aren't enough complimentary words to fill this review on Regal Construction.
Ben and his gang tornadoed my garage and turned it into the most chic, European-style ADU I've ever seen. Completely respecting the design and attention to detail, nothing was ever a problem. It's stunning!
Ben went out of his way and sometimes overboard, to make sure every little thing was as we had envisaged. He, and his team, saw any issues well in advance before they became problematic, and acted promptly to rectify all situations.
Dealing with any City is always a pain, but Cesar waited patiently for a dozen inspections, even when they didn't show up. He never complained, or became frustrated with the process. Bravo!
Regal was right on time; right on budget and I just can't speak highly enough about their reliability and accountability.
Make sure you meet Ben in person. You won't regret it.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

I had a bathroom remodel with Regal and could not be more pleased. I communicated mostly with Shaul, who is extremely responsive, patient, and professional. It was my first major reno, and my only bathroom, so I was understandably nervous. But even during a super busy period for contractors and in the midst of supply chain issues, Regal hit every deadline they promised and my bathroom was done very expeditiously. I have received many compliments on it and a week after completion already referred Regal to friends who were asking about the flawless tilework. Once I am ready to work on my next reno (kitchen), I will definitely be contacting Regal again.

We've been needing to remodel our bathroom for quite some time now. We've had numerous estimates and felt the most comfortable with Regal construction. The professional curtesy and creative input brought our dream remodel to fruition. The management was very acceptable and understanding of our needs. We would definitely recommend Regal to our family and friends. Thank you Regal for an outstanding job. Looking forward to our future projects.

If we could give 0 stars, we would. The Contractor State License Board is currently doing an investigation into Regal Construction. For reference - once a complaint is filed with the CSLB, it only goes into a full investigation because the CSLB determines that the complaint requires further investigation due to the nature and seriousness of the violations. I would be mindful signing any contract as the result of the current investigation could be that their license is suspended or revoked.
This is a nightmare construction company. Disregard the positive reviews. Look at the negative ones. They may say there are "2 sides to every story" - but the reality is Sean (Shahar) Aichel operates a corrupt business. Note: multiple contractors and lawyers have been alarmed that Sean (the licensed contractor and owner) still has a license.
Here's a list of some of the egregious things Regal did:
1. They lied to us that the LA Dept of Building & Safety approved the permit and began demolition and building our deck's foundation... it wasn't. Our backyard was then inaccessible and left in shambles for over a month until it was approved.
2. We caught a worker smoking a joint on the job at 10:30am while building the foundation of our deck - the same day we found out they were illegally building it without permit approval.
3. Regal said the architect cost for blueprints and design was $4,000... it was half of that. We suspect they lied a lot about the cost of things.
4. The contract has a "10 DAY RIGHT TO CURE" protection for homeowners - we sent multiple 10 DAY notices... they didn't cure within 10 days or at all. This was just one way they breached the contract.
5. Poor workmanship. Poor workmanship. Poor workmanship. They had to come back and fix something on EVERYTHING they did (vinyl floors, painting, epoxy, a/c unit, sliding glass doors, shower door, deck construction and more). Some was still left unfixed.
6. Miguel was the unlicensed subcontractor in charge of building our deck. He told our new contractor that Regal was trying to get him to cut corners and he didn't know what to do. What corners? Removing the existing stucco mandated by the LA DBS permit... They didnt want to have to put it back on (also in the plans). They even sent one of their illegal change orders to try and get us to pay them to. Once the complaint was filed, they went ahead and did it lol.
7. Did we mention that Sean Aichel is the only licensed contractor with regal and only came to the job site once when we demanded he meet with us in person? No one with an actual license oversaw our large deck construction project. "Project Manager" Shaul Kofler is a licensed salesperson (per CSLB). We brought in a new contractor for an add-on to the scope of work - Shaul told him he doesn't know much about construction and he's a salesperson and musician. Great to hear that the only Regal staffer on-site doesn't know what he's doing... and yet is continuously telling us we owe more money..
8. They send illegal change orders. This is very significant - this is how they take advantage and try to nickel and dime homeowners. They sent us change orders for aspects of the project that were in the design plans - but since it "wasn't listed in the contract" they demand payment to continue. We confirmed that their change orders are illegal by the CSLB.
9. They request and collect for payment prior to work being completed.. which is against the law. Once we told them we are aware of the law, they suddenly stopped...
10. Shaul drew a 3-sided deck (ours is 2) for the building materials store... so materials were over-ordered. We had to pay a 25% restocking fee to return and Regal took no responsibility.
11. Cigarette butts and trash were constantly left in our backyard from their workers - found by our goddaughter and dogs. After finishing the construction stage, they left a giant pile of debris including their worker's lunch trash on our property for weeks. We kept asking them to clean it up. Finally demanded they do so when we saw rats.
12. We had to hire another contractor to finish the job because they wouldn't continue unless we paid them more money. It was all things in the architect design and in the project's scope of work...
13. They wouldn't let us write joint checks even though their mention in the contract and recommended by the CSLB.
There's more but this is long enough. We should have known they were sketchy when they asked for the $1,000 deposit to even move forward with the contract....
Feel free to send me a message if you want more info or to learn how you too can file a complaint - you have 4 years to do so.Helpful 16Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

We do agree with one point Erin S. makes in her review. There are two sides to every story. In response to this review, we will address only the erroneous facts listed.
We have remained in business as long as we have, by the referrals and repeat business of our amazing clients. We are proud of our work and team and the vast majority of our clients give us 5 stars.
#1. At no point did the project manager lie regarding the permits. The pandemic changed the way the city of LA handled permits. The expeditor was told that the permits are ready, yet the reality was that the permits would be ready in two weeks. We only found out after the fact.
The demolition work started before the permit was issued. we communicated that fact to Erin, and she gave us the green light. On multiple occasions, We tried to explain that due to Covid, the cities process was in flex. Calling it illegal is a misnomer. Demolition does not require a permit nor did we continue work illegally before passing the necessary inspections.
#2 While it is not something we encourage, Some workers are smoking during their lunch break. Rolled tobacco cigarettes are not illegal. And had no impact on the project results. After hearing that there were loose cigarette butts, the project manager personally went to clean up the job site himself to ensure the satisfaction of the customer. We are no longer allowing our workers to smoke on site.
#3 The architectural and engineering plans were never billed to the client.
The plans did indeed cost $4,000. $2,000 for the architect and $2,000 for the engineer.
This included subsequent corrections from both architect and the engineer as well as re-printing the plans.
Yet Regal provided the plans to Erin at no charge as a goodwill gesture in order to keep the budgeting of the project low as possible
Taking advantage of this goodwill and entitlement to use the architect's time for design suggestions and advice made everyone feel uncomfortable.
#4/5 "The 10 day right to cure" - all issues and complaint the client had ere addressed immediately per Erin's requests.
As an indication to the quality of the work we commit to declare all worked performed had passed the city inspection.
#6 We will not address hearsay. Our ultimate goal is to ensure a beautiful finished project with the highest standard of professional workmanship.
#7 Complaints that the project manager told the new contractor he doesn't know construction is a slanderous and false claim. There is no logical reason why anyone would say something like that on a job site. This is the moment where this review loses credibility and has resorted to petty mud-throwing and personal insults. Our field manager and Sean were on-site multiple times to check the job's progress.
#8/9 A change order is work added to or deleted from the original scope of work of a contract. Change orders allow a homeowner to see on paper the cost of additional work that they may be interested in having done. The change order has a signature line that, once signed, authorizes the extra work.
There were parts of the work that were not specified in the original contract because at that point in time there was no finished design, nor architectural /engineering specs
There was a clause in the contract, written with a big asterisk and in big, bold letters informing Erin S. that the original price is subject to change pending on engineering and architectural design.
This conversation took place verbally even before it was written on paper with the understanding from both parties that this scenario could take place.
#10 The project manager actually gave a $300 credit as a show of good faith for the mistake made. More than enough to cover the restocking fee. In fact, on Monday 10/12/2020 6:04 pm Erin emailed us "thank you, we will gladly accept the $300 credit"
#13 PAY WITH JOINT CHECKS. A contractor may, but is not obligated to, issue joint checks to the subcontractor and any of its suppliers. Below is a link explaining more about this process, and as one will see, there is nothing devious or unlawful about not using the method. Additionally, this method is not full proof. https://www.levelset.com/blog/what-is-a-joint-check-agreement
#14 "they asked for the $1K deposit .." Once a contract is signed, it is the law that we receive a deposit of not more than 10 percent of the total cost of the job or $1,000, whichever is less. Once we deposit that check, the client has three days to cancel before work starts. This is the law according to the CSLB and the State of California. Any deviation from this would be illegal.
We appreciate feedback and constructive criticism as it is our aim to improve our quality of service .increase our long list of happy and satisfied customers is our number one goal.
We are very sorry that we were not able to fully satisfy Erin S. and hope that regardless of her personal experience, she will enjoy her new and beautiful deck for many years to come.
