This shop is adorable, well organized, and has an exceptional variety of products. I appreciate that things are well displayed and the entire store appears orderly. I found quite a few goodies here, for myself and for friends. If I were checking a bag, I would have bought so much more!
The couple(?) that runs the place are very friendly. It's a bonus that this place is right next to where we're staying and there's a walking trail between the two!
They have a great variety of maple products; sweet, savory, skincare, etc. Dog treats and toys, games for the family, household decor and more!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Apr 25, 2022
I'm only giving this store 2 stars because of its content. There are some cute souvenirs, especially seasonal ones but a little overpriced in comparison to the other shops around.
The other reason for the low review is the older woman behind the desk. I don't know what her problem was but she wasn't pleasant at all. My family and I are in VT for the first time ever and we only have one day so upon checkout we asked if there were any places open for us to go. The lady frantically tried to think of something, never once looking up at me when she spoke. Never smiled, never looked at me, told me a place that might be open and then walked away. It was off putting.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 2976132532Aug 25, 2020
Cute little country store between Killington/Rutland. We stopped by on our way back to our rental house one day. They have a bunch of cheeses, candy, and cookies, as well as the usual country store trinkets. We bought a magnet and a few Christmas ornaments. My only wish was that they had some local dog biscuits or other fun treats for our dog, as I love to pick that type of stuff up at these stores.

Rocking Horse is a quaint little shop on Route 4 just west of Killington/Pico/Mendon, but well before Rutland. If you're looking for last-minute gifts, souvenirs, or the obligatory slab of aged cheddar or jug of maple syrup, head over to Rocking Horse.
Speaking of cheese, the store owner was very friendly and patient with me, walking me through the different local farms and variances in flavor for each variety. I walked out with an eight-ounce block of four-year aged cheddar from Grafton Village and a four-ounce block of hickory-maple smoked cheddar from Sugarbush Farm. Needless to say, we couldn't wait to break out some slices and enjoy with some wine!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - CJ H.Huletts Landing, NY311Aug 8, 2019
This is a favorite stop of mine. This store has something for everyone! The stock is so varied, it is difficult to leave without a bagful of wonders! I love the candies and paper goods...but the unusual array of stock is delightful. Well worth a visit. Be prepared to be delighted.

Stopped in this nice store in our way out of town and was quite pleased. They had a great selection and I found everything I was looking for. Even found a wonderful wind chime that had been hard for me to find

Perfect gift shop. From the outside it looked small and we weren't sure about it but when we walked in it was quite big. They had a lot to pick from it was the perfect little souvenir shop, they had maple products, tea & hot chocolate, socks t shirts, etc. Everything was reasonably priced, I bought around 7 things for under $20. Best part was the women at the register gave us a piece of chocolate. I would love to visit this place again!

This store had a few nice items, but very rude woman running the store. We stopped to get snacks and drinks for our road trip and shop some. Then I asked to use the restroom...... as it says it's a country store. She hesitated to even say she had a restroom then told us it was an outhouse outside. We wont be stopping at that business ever again. The woman never smiled, wouldn't talk and never thanked us for our purchase of food and gifts. VERY RUDE!!! No wonder she didn't have a soul in the store.

My family and I are here from Texas and we stopped in this store for souvenirs. We walked in and were treated like criminals and nuisances from the second we walked in. The old man behind the register didn't greet us but greeted everyone else who walked in then followed us around watching our every move.

I'm a long time visitor of Vermont - originally from Northern NJ - moved to CA in 2013 - was looking for the 2016 Vermont Life Classic Wall Calendar but Vermont Life web site was sold out - was referred to the Rocking Horse Country Store by some good folks at the Greenbrier Gift Shop - I called and spoke to Sarah who was a terrific help and is shipping a copy of the calendar to me here in CA - the friendly and professional manner Sarah demonstrated made my search even more worthwhile- wishing all the good folks at the Rocking Horse Country Store a Blessed 2016 - can't wait to visit when I head back East!
