My mother and I were looking for a local contractor to remodel our existing back room add-on for our home in Bedford, and were referred to Roe and his crew by a remodeling website. We weren't sure exactly what could be done as the add-on needed some external fortifying and structural reinforcement, as well as an internal remodel, in order to make it usable during the summer months.
I called Mr. Gordon and spoke with him about our needs, and he seemed as excited to realize our vision as I was, so, we both decided he'd come by and give us an estimate. We knew the flooring was soft in areas and needed some work, and that we wanted air conditioning added from the main house, and were looking for guidance as well as any other recommendations. Roe was very professional and knowledgeable, providing advice and recommendations including new sub-flooring, energy efficient windows, a new air conditioning duct, and open entryway, raised ceiling and canned lighting. My mother loved his vision, and found his cost estimate reasonable (and competitive with other estimates we'd received), and agreed to hire him on as general contractor for our project. He estimated it would take approximately 2 weeks to complete.
Roe is a 'hands on' contractor and, although he subcontracts out some of his tasks, he is usually onsite inspecting the quality of the work being done. He also likes to do his own finishing work on his projects and his work is exemplary. He laid the sub-flooring himself, created custom decorative window ledges and painted the interior walls and brickwork and exterior himself. He worked long days and took pride in his work, staying on budget. If I had one minor issue, it would be the work took longer than the original estimate. But considering the quality of the work, I can say, looking back, it was worth the wait.
Roe Gordon Construction is an honest contractor who does quality work, and I wouldn't hesitate to use his services on our next project. I'd recommend his company for any inspired home remodeling project to any homeowner in the MidCities area.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Reuben P.Fort Worth, TX1261Apr 11, 2019Updated review
This is the second time we have used Roe. He built a garage for us a couple of years ago and we've have had zero issues with it. When we needed to replace our front porch we called him again. Even though it was a smaller job for him he gave it his full attention being careful to make sure it was not only beautiful when he finished but structurally sounds and safe for our family. Once the old wood was removed we saw the terrible shape of the existing framing. He completely rebuilt it and our new porch is now super stable and sturdy. Two of our neighbors have used Roe after seeing the quality of the work he has done for us and a few more are interested now and have reached out to him. We won't hesitate to call him again for our next project!
Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Oct 12, 2016Previous reviewWe are having a garage built and Roe has been great all along the way. He has done much of what can be done ahead of permits being received and is working to be ready to pour as soon as they are. He also removed a wall inside our house and was very courteous with keeping things as tidy as possible and did a great job. I will update this review as the project progresses but so far so good!
1/23/17 update: We just received our final inspection and are now enjoying our new garage! Things stretched out a bit due to some delays with the city and we lost a few days due to weather but Roe was always ready to go whenever we could. After hearing stories from neighbors regarding how hard it is to get their contractors out and working I really appreciated this. The quality is great and I feel confident that any concerns or addresses would be taken care of promptly with his 5 year warranty on material and workmanship. - Mary Beth A.Grapevine, TX023Sep 14, 2018
Roe and his team have done a fantastic job with my
office! He has some great people working for him
and it really has been so seamless. Roe's attention
to detail is unparalleled - he has so much
experience and expects perfection in every detail. I
am extremely picky and detail oriented and he
fulfilled every detail to my expectations. They have
even been great about working odd hours so as to
not disturb my neighbors. Thankful to have them on
my team! Would highly recommend.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Darrell G.Grapevine, TX03Feb 5, 2017Updated review
Niclole B aka Roe Gordon, You know that we were customers of yours, we have cancelled checks to prove that you were paid 1,634.00 for home renovations on our home. You are correct that there was not an executed contract, your error, not ours, Just in case you are unaware, the contract is provided by the "contractor", not the "homeowner". A contract was never presented to us for our signature's. So for you to state in your comment to my Yelp review that my review was a "lie" is a total false statement, one of many that you have made over the course of time. I have no reason to "retaliate" against you, as stated previously, i have the right to state my opinion of work done to my home or for any other business as a matter of fact. If Taylor or Susana ate at a restaurant that they did not like and i ate there and didn't care for it as well, then i have the right to state my opinion on social media. It has nothing to do with Taylor or Susana, i wanted to write a bad review after you finally got done with our home, but chose not to because i did not want you to retaliate against the kids.
I have had to go back and scrap ceiling's/walls and re-texture do to the poor job completed by your employees.
I hope any prospective clients of this company will be very very careful if you hire this company, check out facebook page "North Richland-Hills for updates, including scanned documents as proof that what we are stating is not "lies" like Mr Gordon would like for everyone to believe.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Apr 20, 2016Previous reviewMy best advice to anyone reading about this company is please keep looking. The owner has absolutely no morals or ethics. If you question him on his work or pricing he goes into a complete and utter rage. He refuses to listen to reason, my personal opinion is that he is a con artist/scammer, he makes his living low balling his estimates, then comes in for the kill with change orders, he is very demanding and and has no respect for your time. He gave us a timeline of one day to finish some popcorn removal and texturing of the ceilings and bathroom walls. 3 days later they finally finished up, our flooring installers had to work around them, it was quite experience, one we hope to not have to endure again!

Roe Gordon is not the first contractor I have hired but he is the best I've hired. People tell me that I have structural engineering in my blood because I build everything to last forever. When the city inspector told me that Roe built everything above code and his work is of very high standard, it was no surprise to me, I am a proud owner of his work. I am a realist, I know when one embarks on a project as large as ours (added an oversized double garage and large storage building which tastefully matches it and the house), it takes a little bit of time, lots of experience from a contractor, especially if you live in a historic neighborhood like we do, and continuous hard work. If Roe Gordon can meet my standards, which are very high, then those who know and trust me personally rest assured that he will do a great job for them. What I value most, integrity and quality. I believe myself to be a hard person to please regarding both points but he did, he went above and beyond, otherwise, I would have been brutally just as honest and given a bad review. Roe Gordon exceeded my high expectations and he has earned all of the referrals I intend to send him.
