I love Ruthie's! I always order out and eat at home, so this review is strictly about the food. I can't speak to the dine in service. However, whenever I go in to order Ruth is so sweet and energetic.

My favorite food here is the oxtail. It's so tender and flavorful, falling off the bone. I also love the goat stew. Also super tender and delicious. The Mac and cheese is done well, and the beef patties are tasty too!

I always look forward to my next trip to Ruthie's whenever I'm in Vallejo!

I love Jamaican food and found this place, which is a quick drive from home. Ordered some takeout and sat at the bar until the food was done. The hostess (wish I got her name), was really nice. Another customer came in and bought some sea moss, which she had made and already packaged. I started asking questions about it, preparation, etc and she was very knowledgeable. I bought a small batch and really liked it especially since it's healthy for you. Definitely coming back for more sea moss, but the ox tail I ordered was really good. Very tender and the whole meal was full of flavor.

Food is great the owner is such a sweetheart very nice the place has a nice location and people are very friendly

I haven't had an experience like this at a restaurant in a very long time Ruthie is a beautiful woman her energy is amazing the love she has for what she does shines through in her food if you're ever in Vallejo and you want some great food try this place

The oxtails were tender and packed with a ton of flavor. I liked how the rice with beans and the plantains complemented the overall flavor of the oxtails. The chicken roti was decent in size & pretty tasty. The pineapple mango juice was refreshingly good and the seamoss smoothie was delicious.

Had to have it again brought my whole family with me that enjoyed the food also. Warm environment as usual thank u Ruthie for the ox tails

After a long day of shopping for clothing and food on coffee only we were starving! We stopped by Trans Sol food order food for the concert Sunday in Concord. We wanted something good, so we decided to go to Ruthies.
The restaurant is spotless and she treats you as if you are a friend invited to dinner. Ms Ruthie is a very detailed oriented person and it shows in her presentation of food and beverage. We decided to try the curried goat it comes with rice and peas I ordered the sautéed vegetables as a side. The goat was tender and flavored throughout, the rice and peas covered with the curry was the best bite ever! . We also tried the jerk chicken also comes with rice and peas sweet plantain as the side. The sweet plantain was the best I've ever had. I've been to the Carribean several times! I had a glass of wine to go with and ice water with fresh lemon slices . All of the food was delicious. Just when we thought we couldn't eat another bite, she shared some jerk chicken a chef she is mentoring had prepared, it was flavor explosion. Thus young man is a Chef in training for sure. I just ordered on DoorDash the Oxtail entree which comes with 2 large pieces with Mac n cheese and red beans & rice for sides. It must've been my lucky day because they gave me 3 large pieces of oxtails! I felt like I hit the jackpot. Everything was delicious. Oxtails were tender. Good portions. Definitely worth the money because I have leftovers for lunch tmrw yay!

When you love fish like I do, you'll call ahead to get the WHOLE snapper, not just the filet.

It was cooked extremely well. Loaded with flavor and enough lemon. It was crunchy enough to eat parts of the head like chips and MAN the flavor hits different with that crunch.

Fish tastes fresh. Succulent - if that's how you spell it lol.

Beans and rice are solid, same with plantains.

First time ordering from here through Doordash. Food came hot and fresh. The oxtail is super tender and full of flavor. The plantain is sweet and paired perfect. Red beans and rice were amazing and delicious.

My husband ordered the Hot jerk chicken and devoured his plate. The sauce was hot but the food was soo delicious that you just wanted more and more. He could not stop talking about how amazing the jerk sauce was.

Both plates were packed. We will definitely have left overs for the next day. I can't wait to try the goat curry next. Try this spot!! You won't regret it!!

And for those who talked smack about the food, y'all obviously don't have refined palates. Go get yourself some nasty fast food instead.
