RYOSHIN LITERALLY HAS ME IN A CHOKEHOLD.
No matter how many sushi spots I try, Ryoshin will always be my favorite. When I first tried this spot, I was literally so obsessed that we practically dined here every other week. But then reality hit after looking at my bank statement...
If I had to choose only one restaurant to eat at forever, I would choose Ryoshin. The quality and freshness is consistent every single time. My mouth salivates whenever I think about it.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Mar 13, 2023Previous reviewI SOOO want to gate-keep this spot but they so deserve the recognition.
I've spent the past year searching high and low for a really good sushi spot and I want to say I've found it! It's literally that good! I couldn't stop thinking about it.
During my visits, I tried a variety of their nigiris. ALL of them tasted really fresh and definitely melt in your mouth good.
Service was quick & server were nice and attentive. - Yaya B.Belmont, CA04669Jan 14, 2024
Since friends recommended it, we meant to try this small sushi bar for a long time and it didn't disappoint.
This is a really small place with maybe six tables or so. They also have some outdoor seating alongside the building's front. So make a reservation, order out, or time your visit well.
We chose a dish from the seasonal rolls, the fusion rolls, and handrolls. Everything was fresh and with distinct wonderful flavors (and not drowned out by flavored mayo, sesame oil etc).
You pay for good quality dishes - although I think nothing we had was overpriced.
We enjoyed hot tea with our meal and left happy, satisfied and with the intention to return and try many more dishes from the extensive menu.Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0 - 271122690Jan 3, 2024
This was a cute little spot in Belmont with a large selection of sushi rolls, nigiri/sashimi, and hot dishes.
We both ordered the 12-piece nigiri omakase to start. The selection of fish was high quality and each piece was already seasoned so that you do not need to dip it into soy sauce. For $70 and the guaranteed inclusion of uni, we found it to be a good deal.
Afterward, we ordered a few additional pieces of nigiri as well as a sushi taco. The sushi taco was a handroll with the nori dipped in tempura batter and fried. It was tasty and different. Kudos to them for the concept!
This is a small operation with only 14 seats and only a few people working. They did well to keep up with the service. It's not fast service, but it's alright too.
Parking is limited to street parking, so you may need to hunt around for a spot if it's busy.
This is a great spot for a casual date night with lots of options to accommodate varied tastes and omakase options that won't break the bank!Helpful 2Thanks 2Love this 3Oh no 0 - Jun 22, 2023
Very tight and cute sushi spot. Quality is surprisingly good! Service is friendly and they have limited opening hours. Parking is limited to the street. If you hate being cloisters then this place isn't for you to dine in. Take it to go! :)

Not only one of the best sushi restaurants in San Fran, one of the best I've enjoyed anywhere. What makes them special is they have a nice variety of fish, some of which I've never tried before. If you go, I hope you'll experiment and try some things you've never eaten before. I only wished we lived closer.

Ordered the salmon and toro sampler. It was great! Perfect dinner. The restaurant is very small. When the chef and the waitress spoke very loud in their Chinese dialect it was amplified by the small space.

What I had from last time: chef's choice, cucumber salad, pudding, mussel, and some fish whose name I do not know haha. Love the flavor as always ~

Don't underestimate this tiny neighborhood sushi restaurant. The quality is actually pretty good and exceeded my expectations. The space itself is very small. They can seat 14 people inside (there was 1 4-top table and 5 2-tops). There's a couple tables outside for outdoor dining as well.
I was really intrigued by the pressed sushi (oshizushi). It's not something you see at typical sushi restaurants. My only gripe is that the sushi rice kinda fell apart -not sure if that's normal? I think staff knew because they served that dish with a fork. We opted for the hokkaido scallop ($18.70 for 7 pieces).
We also ordered the crazy roll ($18.90) - good, but nothing memorable, and quite a bit of nigiri. We decided to try the king sake/king salmon ($11), ikura/fish roe ($9), hotate/scallop ($7.70), hamachi toro/yellowtail belly ($12), and uni hotate ($16). Most pieces came seared, but everything tasted fresh. The ikura nigiri was much smaller in size than expected. Also, I would just stick to hokkaido uni instead of the uni hotate combo in the future because the uni was of lesser quality.
Overall, had a pleasant experience. At the end of the meal, you also get a small complimentary mango pudding. Such a nice touch!
While I would very much like to keep this place to myself, I think it's important to support small businesses. Definitely consider giving this place a chance.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - Dec 11, 2022
To go review: chose a local spot for dinner and it was alright. Our rolls were a bit smaller than expected at that price point but I guess that's inflation right? The inside of the restaurant seemed TINY though like the size of a 1 car garage. Anyways, the 49ers roll was decent but I think 3 sake hand rolls would be a better value haha.

Walk up to this place and it's unassuming. Absolutely tiny, with a neon "to-go" sign in the window and equally unassuming interior. Staff and sushi chefs are very nice and also cantonese speaking.
Y'all have such good photos of their food on Yelp. As soon as we sat down, we 1000% second guessed our plans for ordering omakase. After all, how could such a small restaurant and low volume possibly sell enough fish to keep things fresh across a vast, expansive menu??
I was pleasantly surprised overall. The fish was fresh and delicious with the quality of something punching at a much higher level. But make no mistake: if you are looking for the omakase "experience", this is not that. There are no aspirations of Michelin ratings here. But, if you want reasonably priced variety beyond your "tuna, salmon, yellowtail," this is a great optionHelpful 2Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 0
