Salsa Mama Cantina

I arrived at lunchtime on a Saturday, and virtually no one was in the restaurant. A staff member, who also turned out to be the waiter, immediately greeted and seated me on the outside patio. While perusing the menu, chips and salsa was served, which was pretty tasty. The food, I ordered a chicken burrito, came out pretty fast and, while it was good, it seemed very...Americanized. As I said, the food was fine (I thought the queso was particularly delicious), but it was missing something that would give it that added "oomph" I've experienced at authentic Mexican restaurants here in the States and Mexico.

There are several other Mexican restaurants in the area, and I would recommend trying one of them first. I had no real problems during my visit - the waiter was super friendly and attentive, and the food was pretty good and decently priced. I'd give Salsa Mama Cantina 2.5 stars.

Tried this new restaurant for the first time today; very glad to have a taco spot downtown and close to my office!

The complimentary chips were tasty - much better than your typical Mexican restaurant starter. Also, I suspect the salsa fresca was made fresh by the kitchen.

Ordered one steak taco and one carnitas taco. Both served "street taco" style in corn tortillas. While both were very yummy, the steak was outstanding! You must give it a try!

I'm already looking forward to my next visit and sampling additional menu items in the near future

My friends and I decided to eat here before a performance at the Maryland Theater. I'm sad to say I think we would've been better off grabbing food at Taco Bell on our way.

The service started out fine, but we quickly realized there were only 2 servers who were trying to take care of tables while also being bar tenders and hosts. I'm not sure if they just were short staffed but there didn't seem to even be a manager to step in and help. More and more people came in which only added to the stress and length of time it took to get anything from our server.

We were only able to get 1 round of drinks and were never asked how anything was or if we wanted anything refilled or in addition.

When our tacos finally came after waiting 45+ minutes, they were soggy, cold, and unappealing. Not to mention we had to ask for our queso that we ordered as an appetizer yet again. When that finally came it tasted as if they squirted movie theater popcorn butter into a cup- inedible.

Again we were never were asked how things were or if the food was satisfactory.

Sadly we had hoped for a good experience but sadly did not. We will not be returning.

Seating is outside during COVID. We're visiting from Michigan and let me just say...... HELL YEAH! The tostadas were to die for, we got a special order of Fideo for us to take home also! The home food I've been looking for! Thank you everyone so much again for treating us so wonderfully! We will be back again!

I stopped in before a show at the Maryland Theater right around the corner and really enjoyed my
clamatorita and shrimp tacos. Will definitely be back!

Went in with high hopes. The street corn was pretty good but a little soupy. A couple of my shrimps were raw. Also me and my friends wanted a margarita tower that they advertise but they only had 3 in the whole restaurant which were all being used and sadly we never got one..

45 mins and still waiting on a grubhub order. This is ridiculous. Wait staff continue to walk past with no updates as I know they see me with these grubhub bags. Asked 3 different servers what's going on then they disappear and never get back. If it wasn't a good paying delivery I would have already cancelled and left. This is unacceptable! I won't be spending any dollars here please believe!

Took almost an hour to get orders for two people when the restaurant was almost dead. I'm guessing the food was sitting around somewhere for quite some time because it came out to us cold, horribly soggy and hardly had any meat on the chicken taco. During that hour, the waitress only checked on us twice and disappeared for the rest of the time. The place looked really nice and I had hope but that wasn't fulfilled.

Horrible service after waiting for 10 minutes to get a server, she took drink order and never came back we waited 10 minutes for drinks ice tea and ultra still waiting never took Food order and we walked. Not busy but we aren't the young hip girls that came in for table and drinks immediately. I see failure in the future. Was so excited to try and now it's not happening, Management needs to step up and get servers who can do job!

Highly recommend! Easy to park for free in public lot on a Saturday evening. Great, friendly service and super delicious, fresh food. The tacos were outstanding. Loved the veggie. Great chips, guacamole and queso too. This is my new favorite restaurant and we will go back often. Way more authentic than other Mexican places. Great desserts, tequila and mezcal too.
