I like Sam a lot. He does beautiful work and very quickly too. He has altered all of my dress pants for work and a couple of bridesmaid dresses for me. I am a very short person and alterations are my life. If I were smart, I'd learn how to sew myself. But evidently I'm not that smart.
Sam is rather pricey. My pants hemming costs $12-$15 each and I paid $125 each for 2 bridesmaid dresses to be hemmed, taken in on the sides, and have a strap shortened on one of them. YIKES, I know. But he's so efficient, fast, and convenient that I can't seem to bring myself to go elsewhere, especially given the fact that I usually need my alterations done quickly. He's a really nice guy too. One time, he had hemmed a couple of pairs of pants for me but when I got home I realized that I wanted them just a bit shorter. I went back and he fixed them for me without an extra charge.
Sam's the man, and I took off 1 star only because I know other places charge much much less. But for me, his convenience and his work are worth it.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Ben W.Los Angeles, CA03Oct 6, 2022
Sam is a true professional. It's hands down the best dry cleaning and tailoring in Allston Brighton area. Great price and service - can't beat it!

I needed some pants shortened in one day for a trip I was taking. The ship was prompt and responsive, did a perfect job. They were flared and a terry material, not so easy. I found my new alterations place! Thanks Sam's.

Horrendous service and outrageous prices.
I brought in a dress to have hemmed for a wedding I have in two months. When I walked in and said I would like an estimate for an alteration, the guy at the counter (Sam, I presume) immediately asked in an accusatory tone "Why you wait til the last minute?" (Not even a "hello"!) I had no idea what he was talking about since I'd never met him before and I have plenty of time for alterations. After seeing my confusion he realized he was thinking of a different customer - someone who called earlier and needed a rush job - and gave me my estimate like I asked for.
Obviously this guy has a very judgmental attitude towards his customers. He is not friendly and makes nasty assumptions. Plus, he tried to charge me $70 to hem my dress -- it's made of a simple fabric and has no embellishments, pleats, or other details. I can't think of a single reason why someone would choose to get alterations done here.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Taylor T.SoMa, San Francisco, CA281Dec 6, 2021
I have to tailor my pants and shirts constantly and I only trust Sam to do so. I have been going to him for close to a year now. He does a spectacular job and works very quickly to get my pieces back to me on time. He's also extremely friendly and kind which always goes a long way for me. Pricing is also very reasonable especially in Boston! I've recommended him to all my friends who now also go to him for all alterations and dry cleaning.

I have been going to Sam for years. He does great work but his prices have skyrocketed lately...to a level way more than other tailor near my home and work. Because of my body type, I need alterations on nearly every blouse I buy. I just can't afford to keep going to him unfortunately. My last alteration cost twice what the blouse cost at Nordstroms!

I took my wedding dress to Sam because it was too small on my chest (it was my mother in laws dress) and I was really hoping to fix it so I would be able to wear it. Sam and I figured out that if we opened up the back, it could be made to fit me! I took it to him with about 6 months until my wedding and he finished it over a month early. He added beading to the back and also some extra fabric in the lower back area. It turned out beautiful and everyone loved it! Thank you Sam!

Wonderful service and care. I had a formal dress altered and hemmed. It was on time and service was excellent during the COVID events. Unfortunately my event was cancelled but am very grateful for Sam!

sam saved my dress!! i had taken a bridesmaids dress to a friend's seamstress and she left it far too large and with crooked stitching. i took it to sam with less than a week until the wedding and he didn't even flinch on the rush timing. he did amazing work and the dress fit perfectly.
