Q:
Hi do you also board pet chickens (hens)?
A:
We are not specialized in chicken, but we took care of some in the past in an indoor setting.
Anthony G., Business Owner1 year agoQ:
Is this a bird shop to get birds? I've been wanting one for a long time
A:
we are not a bird shop . We are a bird boarding place only. Animal Company or Animal Connection in San Francisco are selling small and medium sized parrots.

A hotel for birds?
Ah what a time.
Boarding your bird here,
Won't even break a dime!
I've used their services,
A number of visits now.
And each time I walk in,
I just stop and say W O W!
They've got parrots, cockatiels, and conures.
Separate rooms for little parakeets.
You won't find a better stay,
For your adorable little peeps.
You can bring your own food,
The one your avian pet is used to.
But the staff will give em fresh fruits,
And add on some vegetables too.
The staff are so friendly,
Knowledgeable and chipper.
I end up staying long each visit.
As some birds are a real looker!

As a new bird mom, I can't be thankful enough for this place. Before, I used to be so worried thinking about who I could ask to babysit my little chirpster, and now I feel rest assured knowing there's a place.
To park, it's just parallel parking alongside the building. Don't park at the building across as it's a separate business! It's also helpful to call in advance to let the staff know if they have room for your bird and can accommodate the stay.
A perk is that there's a bird groomer that comes every so often. This gives you the option of having them trim your bird's nails, beak and wings (the option to opt out of one or the other is also available!)
One thing I would love is if they could give updates regarding your bird if they're there for a longer stay. Kind of like what they do for dog sitting apps. I would love to get pictures or even videos of my little bird baby since I can be a nervous mom :')Helpful 5Thanks 1Love this 5Oh no 0 - Terri G.Santa Rosa, CA04Feb 7, 2024
I love the previous review in rhyme and agree 100% with every word of it. My Senegal Mozart and I love San Francisco Bird Hotel so much, we commute from Santa Rosa for Mozart's stays and grooming - even if I'm not flying out of SFO. The care he receives is beyond excellent - from fresh fruits and veggies to cuddles to grooming - it's all exceptional. The staff is also amazing - they will treat your parrot like one of their own. Mozart is always so happy to arrive and sad to leave. He's even started demanding occasional stays when we have no travel plans.

Took my parrot for 2 week boarding. Went very well. They are very responsive and sent photos of him on my trip.

We live in Stockton and there are no avian boarding facilities but we were flying out of SFO so this was convenient. They're only a few minutes from the airport.
The staff there is amazing and super accommodating. We'll be taking our cockatoo here from now on! He bites so he stayed in his cage but he got lots of treats and they provide fresh food everyday.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Shari P.San Francisco, CA08Oct 10, 2023
I took my two healthy 3 years old parakeets to this place, one got sick, she's on medication. I regret to take them there. I will never go back. Better have someone individually take care of my birds. I hope she'll get healthy again.

The parakeets left our facility in good health. We asked our client to provide a medical report from the birds doctor for our review, which they did. The doctor clearly stated in the report that the particular illness one bird had could not have been the result of boarding at our facility.

I cannot say enough positive things about this place. We've used other bird care resources, and no place compares. Caring and knowledgeable staff, clean space with windows, and reasonable prices. I don't know how they do it, but everyone seems to remember some detail about our birds- what they like, how they behave with each other, what they eat... I never worry when our green cheek conure and cockatiel are at birdie camp.
Highly recommend!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - Effie F.San Francisco, CA135462Jun 1, 2021
The SF Bird Hotel is a fantastic resource for boarding your birds. Ours always come back happy, clean, and healthy. Sometimes I think our two "boys," Buddy and India, have had more fun on their vacation than I've had on mine!

I've been using the SFBird Hotel to board my bird at least twice a year now for 4-5 years. I can honestly say that Birgit and her staff are WONDERFUL. Not only are they lovely and hardworking small business owners but I know they do a great job because my bird gets genuinely excited when he sees his 'travel/vacation cage' come out. he knows where he's going and that he's about to have fun with all sorts of his feathered friends for a few weeks!
I'm writing this review at the time of the coronavirus because I know that the Bird Hotel (like so many other businesses) are struggling to survive right now. If you are in need of bird care, now or in the foreseeable future, this is your place! Not only are the rates affordable but having the peace of mind knowing that your birds will be loved and cared for by a specialized avian staff while your away from your pets is priceless.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Katie M.Castro Valley, CA763Oct 21, 2021
SF Bird Hotel is a terrific resource for boarding your birds. The prices are very reasonable and you can definitely trust the staffs here. They're amazing and really know how to handle birds. You get to pick your own cage, they provide fresh veggies & fruits daily, and even let them fly around once a day. They make it easier for us to travel and enjoyable because they're trustworthy.
