My car port roof was leaking. Matt was very helpful and communication was top notch. He let me know he could save the roof. Had his crew fix it and it was done.

This is the worst experience I've ever had with a contractor or any business for that matter. The Save a Roof owner, Matt Bohn, took a look at our tile roof patio and said we'd save a lot of money if we used his services and they had a solution that would last us 10 years and keep us from having to completely redo the roof. Noting that our deck and roof were not leaking, but had broken grout and some uneven tiles. After talking to a number of companies, I foolishly trusted the Google reviews and chose Save a Roof, which ended up being the worst choice I could have made.
First, I asked to have the repair done in mid-May, but without notice I was scheduled for a couple of days later, right after a big rain storm. I noted concern about the rain since water was getting trapped under the tiles, but my concerns were brushed off and Matt said something about me worrying too much. The Save a Roof worker who came out to complete the repair was actually pretty nice, but unfortunately, did not do the job correctly. He did not clean our tiles well before the repair, only using a broom. So now we have a lot of dirt stuck underneath a sealant. If I would have known the tiles and grout weren't going to be properly cleaned, I would have done it myself ahead of time. The worker also missed a number of broken grout spots and the grout color he did use did not match at all, so we now have mismatched grout. He also sprayed sealant on our grey walls in sort of a wave pattern, which discolored the walls. Overall, he spent about 3 hours on the repair (which included a trip to Home Depot) and roughly $75 worth of materials. Matt told us they were coming up with a "custom solution" - which ended up being a ~$15 GE silicone caulk and a Home Depot sealant. This "custom solution" cost $1,500. One of the ways he justified the cost was because the worker lived far away and had to commute to our house and also to Home Depot to buy the supplies.
After the service, I emailed Matt photos of missing grout, dirt trapped under the sealant, and the now-discolored wall. Matt said he would call me early the next week to discuss but never did so I had to call him about a week late. This phone call was something I have never experienced with a business. Matt quickly got argumentative and very offended that I was unsatisfied. He also called me "crazy" because I emailed photos of the problem. He said he showed my emails to his friends and laughed about it. I'm not sure if he speaks to all his customers like this, but calling a customer crazy for asking about issues is unacceptable. As a solution, I asked for the worker to either come back out and fix the areas he missed and take a look at the discolored wall. If he didn't want to do that, I said we would also be ok with a discount since we will likely have to pay someone else to fix the wall and grout. Matt raised his voice over the phone and said I could take him to court if I don't pay him and "I will win!" Matt went on to say that they don't specialize in tile roof work. I'm not sure why he took on the job if it was a type of project they don't do often or at all. He also said -well your roof isn't leaking is it? So we must have done something right. However, our roof was NEVER leaking. He also claimed to BBB that we had mold growing in our home, which is completely made up and untrue. He never even looked under a tile to know what was under there. When he walked in our house he saw no watermarks in the ceiling. Our house is not even 5 years old and a handful of other contractors also confirmed there was no water damage, leaks or mold.
The call ended with Matt saying he'd send his worker out the following week to fix the broken grout, but no one ever showed up! I've never been more disrespectfully spoken to from a business than Matt and Save a Roof.
Overall, this was a huge waste of money no one deserves to be treated like how Matt Bohn treated me.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Carol D.Austin, TX72283Dec 22, 2021First to Review
Found a leak in master bathroom right before Christmas. Yay! What a present..... Luckily, I called Save a Roof and they are such lifesavers! I used them for a roof patch up about a year ago and their customer service has not changed one bit! Quick to respond and set up an appointment which was nice, but what was really awesome was that because it needed a minor patch up and I was a past customer it was done at no cost! Merry Christmas to me!!! Thank you guys for the great service! I would recommend this company to anyone who is looking for a fast, reliable, and honest team!!!
