We ate dinner here after traveling from Long Island and wanted a nice meal in New Haven. September in Bangkok did not disappoint. I had called ahead for a table but the space is big and there didn't seem to be a problem seating people. Most of the tables were filled. We were served drinks, appetizer, then main entree in a timely fashion. Our server was very friendly. The food was extremely tasty, fresh, and plated nicely. We will definitely return when we are back in New Haven.

Absolute favorite Thai restaurant!
Food: The food is absolutely amazing. You can't go wrong with anything! The Pad Thai is made al dente and the Crab Fried Rice is made with real crab and butterfly pea rice.
Service: The service was normal - Nothing above and beyond, but also not to slow or quick.
Ambiance: It's very clean and bright! It's great for a friends' hangout, date night or group meetup.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Apr 26, 2023
Amaaaaziinnnggg Thai food in New Haven!
I was visiting a friend and we spontaneously decided to get dinner here and it was the highlight of the trip! The restaurant feels unique and trendy, and seemed very popular. The dishes were amazing, especially the gra pow kai dao and tea leaf salad. We decided to order a few dishes and share, which I highly recommend as a way to taste a bit of everything. The inside of the restaurant was clean and modern, and the service was attentive enough given the large number of diners.
A must try!!!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Art Q.Hartford, CT016Mar 10, 2024
Visited on a Saturday nt. Quite a Strange space. Tables are all over the place. No focus to the space. Random seating.
Nite....If you don't have good eye site, you also could possibly trip here...due to 3-4 slightly different levels. Small unseen steps.
The Menu is also not normal for a Thai restaurant. Food quality is so so. Service is adequate. But the Prices are quite high for what they are serving.
Unusual menu ....we ordered " coconut shrimp" , which were clearly really small shrimp..., but pounded flat so they looked large...and fried, served with a sugary monotone type sweet sauce and had little shrimp flavor at all. ( trader Joe's are definitely superior!!) , a "special"of pulled pork tacos on corn tortillas, (Mexican) a kind of strange thin Tom Yom soup, (just 1 undercooked shrimp in the entire bowl no real shrimp flavor, not authentic whatsoever ) "blue rice " is really more Malaysian than Thai, and a pretty tasteless massaman chicken curry with skinny flat pieces of chicken , lots of large onion pieces, some coconut milk, and big chunks of white potatoes? ( a filler ) Potatoes?? ....Which I've never had in a thai restaurant here or in Asia before.
The chefs definitely ain't from Thailand....oh well.
They have things here like South Indian "samosas" on the menu ....which in addition to a South Indian server, leads me to believe this restaurant might be owned by someone from South Asia, but definitely Not Thailand.
They have a large and rather confusing menu. If the food were good and less pricy , I might forgive the cultural cluelessness. But alas it's quite mediocre and not good value either.
Not sure where all these 4-5 star reviews are coming from here...( sometimes I wonder about yelp reviews...) but I recommend not to waste your time with this one , unless you don't care about food quality , Thai authenticity and value for your $$.
I like good quality food and am willing to pay for it too. But We certainly won't be visiting this restaurant again.
Sorry.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Nov 23, 2022
Came to visit my little brother at Yale and this was one of the best restaurants nearby! The service was great but definitely on the pricier side for Thai food.
The thai tea was extremely sweet. We got the tea leaf salad which was interesting and the crab rangoons were huge! I got the duck curry which came in a pineapple and the giant prawns which were super crispy and delicious. My boyfriend got the pad see ew that he said was great and we also got the pork chops and seafood basil fried rice.
We had tons of leftovers to take home and the vibe is like upscale Thai and a little fancier than the other eateries near Yale. Would love to come back and try other dishes!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Oct 21, 2022
* Gra-pow kai dow 8.5/10 very yum. Def making something like this at home. The blue rice is so yum.
* Crab Rangoon 9/10 most crispy ever. Very light a fluffy. Amazing ratio
* Side string beans 9.4/10 definitely going to try to make these. So so so sweet. Amazing size highly recommend
* Crab fried rice 7.5 So sad I didn't get before pic but the amount on this crab was literally unreal. Once again blue rice so good and yummy. I did find a few crab shell pieces in my food which was unpleasant.
* Pad thai in September 7.89/10 scrumptious but again I kept finding shell like pieces which freaked me out.Helpful 2Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 0 - Apr 16, 2023
We were blown away by the unique dining experience at September in Bangkok. Quite literally, we ate Thai food like we had never seen it before. There is ample seat space, but we were happy to have had a reservation. We thought the eclectic decor added to the expansive Thai menu.
Our order:
Passion fruit mojito: Not overly sweet, strong, and the perfect pairing for apps and dinner. Absolutely delicious!
Midnight Spell: We were fearful of the guava nectar being to sweet or overpowering, but it was just right! Unique cocktail but very good.
Duck wraps: tender, crispy meat nestled in a corn tortilla.. what's not to like?
Tom Kha Steamed Mussels: Not a huge amount of mussels, but the mussels themselves were HUGE. The coconut sauce was delicious, we wished we had something to dunk it all up with.
Tea leaf salad: great combo of mango, toasted coconut, and peanut... a great starter
Grilled lemongrass chicken: served with mango rice, probably the best rice I have ever had. It will be hard for me to go back to this restaurant and order something different, because this dish was so perfect. Chicken was perfectly cooked and I couldn't get enough of the Thai peanut sauce.
Gra Pow Kai Dow: Clearly an authentic Thai dish with such simple ingredients, but so delicious. The blue rice and birds eye chili sauce was awesome.
Thai iced tea: life changing, my first time trying and now I have been craving one ever since
If you are looking for a unique dining experience in the New Haven area, September in Bangkok is for you. It is well worth the travel. Our only complaints were slow service at times, and their bathroom was not very clean. But, given the awesome food and drinks, it was easy to overlook these flaws.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 1 - Austin L.Trumbull, CT43Feb 11, 2024
The food was delicious. Had the samosa spring rolls and fried trout special. The trout was perfect. Based on food alone, it was five stars.
The seating was not very comfortable because the chairs were low for the table. But that's not enough to bring down the rating.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 1786375Apr 25, 2023Updated review
September in Bangkok is super popular and well known. The food was good but unfortunately it didn't meet my expectation for the reputation and price. The pad thai was exactly what you would expect from pad thai. The crab fried rice didn't really seem fried. It was more like oily steamed rice with crab + scrambled eggs on top. The crab rangoons are a cream cheese attack. The chicken satay is good. The fried egg rolls were super crispy - these were a winner. The chicken massaman curry was quite good. Overall the food was good but I'd rather go to a lesser known restaurant, pay less, and get equivalent or better food.
