I was so sad when mini Mogadishu went away but in its wake, this place popped up! I placed an order for pick up but had the SO pick up so I don't know if it's the same folks just rebranded or totally different.
We ordered the lamb shank meal with bread, baba ghanoush, and hummus, as well as a chicken shawarma sandwich.
The SO drooled over the lamb shank with meat that fell off the bone. The chicken shawarma is so good, the chicken is just the right amount of juicy with little crispy edges but I gotta say, the star of it all was the bread that came with the lamb shank, which I think is the same flat bread they wrap the shawarma.
The sides too were all so delicious. If you've never had baba ghanoush, you should try it here, it's fabulous. Theres not a single complaint (plus the shawarma is gigantic!!!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - Emily B.Westbrook, ME20681380Aug 27, 2020
The best gyro in the greater Portland area, and the hummus is smooth and so flavorful. Very generous proportions. I have admittedly been ordering dinner about once a week during COVID, so you can trust me.
Oddly, the plate comes with either hummus OR baba ganoush. So if you prefer one over the other, make sure to specify in the comments.Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - Apr 13, 2020
I have been wanted to come here since it opened and somehow it just was not happening. When YELP announced the stay home dine in , I knew right where I wanted to go . We order and decided to pick it up yourselves just to get out . The order was ready just when they said it would be and they brought it out to the car.
We got a hummus app which was very smooth and creamy loved it . The naan was a little tough but had a great favor and toasted up great the next day for leftovers. The tabouli was different than we expected with very little grains but still tasted great and really fresh. Chicken shawarma sandwich was very good it came with some fries and a 2 stuffed grape leaves and hummus. We also got a falafel sandwich and a gyro plate. The rice was especially flavorful. The family loved the hot sauce and put it on things I am not sure it was meant for. Loved the gyro, good size portions and had leftovers the next day . We will go back and try the dining room.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Jan 31, 2021
The lamb shank was soft and rich and fell of the bone and everything that you would want it to be. The baba ghanoush was smoky and was a nice texture but I wish it had some slightly more acidic flavors to balance it. I wouldn't recommend the french fries but that is perhaps my delivery was 30 mins later than expected. The rice was a little oily for me but overall I enjoyed the flavors.

Wow! I'm so happy I found this place. Tonight was my first experience, but it will definitely not be my last. We ordered 2 gyros, french fries, a chicken sambusa, hummus, and pita. All of the portions were great for the price, and we only spent $33. 1 gyro was enough to feed both my partner and myself!
Not only was the food great, the service was exceptional as well. They're very friendly and prompt with their orders. It also seems to be family run, which makes it all the more special.
I'd highly recommend checking this out when in town.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Hamid Z.Rehoboth, MA27215Aug 16, 2019
Few things you have to ask yourself before coming here. 1 are you hungry 2 are you sick of the pretentious food on the strip. Same burger, lobster roll blah blah blah. If you answered yes to both questions this place is for you. Does this place look like 80s never left here YES. Can you kill that one fly that will bother you while you eat. NOPE. If you can get past those thing you will be rewarded with one of the best culinary cuisine you had in a very long time. While your waiting you will get a lil scratch in the back of your head saying this is taking too long, 10 minutes still no menu, place looks like shit I bet the food might be terrible too. Just ignore all the flight instincts and order the lamb shank and kebabs. Enjoy it then spread the word.

My wife and I stopped here while on vacation and will definitely be back on our next trip to Maine.
Don't rush out the door because of the wait. Be patient and you will be glad you did. Each of our meals was made from scratch and worth every minute we were there. The owner regularly stopped at our table and assured us that we wouldn't be disappointed and we certainly were not. I ordered the Schwarma and my wife ordered a lamb dish as well as an order of falafel. Between the GIANT homemade naan and humas, our meals, falafel, and all the sides and sauces we stuffed ourselves and still brought home enough leftovers for another full meal.
Please give this place a chance, you will be happy you did!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Michael E.ME, ME45845Jun 30, 2019First to Review
Great middle eastern food. The okra stew with lamb was so good. The owner Ahmed and his four year old daughter and helper Bella provided great service and treated us like family. They do delivery and have ample dedicated parking in the back. I appreciate that they launched under the radar. I was driving down Forest and saw a sign for Shawarma and nearly pulled the E-Brake.

The food at Shawarma & Kebab House is fresh, high quality, carefully prepared, and delicious. My 10 year old loves the falling-off-the-bone lamb shank and rice, and it exposes her to a different flavor palate/pallet than she gets at home. The portions are generous without being overwhelming. A gem at Woodfords Corner!

So good! Loved the gyro plate, salads and humus. The chicken shawarma is good but after trying the gyro, there's no turning back. And the humus is hands down the best I've ever had. Yum!!
