In town to visit our daughter. Tried a new place for breakfast. We had a great breakfast at shore. Family owned for the past 38 years. They got it down. Food was out fast and delicious.
Good was hot and good. What I remember as a good old local dinner breakfast.
The server was friendly and made it feel like a family affair.
We definitely enjoyed the restaurant and food. I'm guessing it hasn't changed much in the last 38 years. Which is why it was so good.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Ralph M.Cleveland, OH7230Mar 30, 2024
Although I have only been here once, I feel qualified to make my judgement about Shore Restaurant.
When I visit an Italian restaurant, I almost always choose spaghetti with red sauce. My feeling is if they can't get this right make this will be my last visit. It is the standard bearer of solid Italian Southern Italian food.
Likewise, a solid Greek restaurant must have a tasty gyro or I'm out, never to return. The smell of gyro meat ( Cronos, beef and lamb shaped in a cone or another brand) turning on the burning spit, smoking and filing the room with a great aroma is Greek restaurant essential.
Although there was no spit in sight, I ordered the gyro. Instead of uneven and hand sliced meat from the cone of beef and lamb, my gryo meat was extremely thin and uniform. No burned chunks, no unevenly sliced pieces and not much aroma. It appears the Shore Restarant uses Cryovac gryo meat, a shortcut that is unforgivable.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mar 18, 20241 check-in
First time here, long time admirer. Was having work done on our car nearby, so my wife and I popped in to have a breakfast while we waited for things to wrap up down the street. It is located in a very nondescript street-side strip of shops that you'd probably drive (or walk) right by without noticing...but don't!!!
This is truly a Mom & Pop run shop...the same family that started the spot some 38 years ago are still hard at work both in the kitchen and in the front of the house. The place has an old-school vibe (because it is) with its scant set of booths and tables along with around a dozen countertop stools where single diners can order and eat. And please remember (in the spirit of older establishments) that they are CASH ONLY!
We each ordered a coffee, which kept flowing without any prompting, and when we desired to switch over to decaf a new pot got a-brewing right away. Tasty stuff!
In order to try more than one dish of the same thing, she ordered a Greek omelette with home fries, wheat toast and I got a standard egg breakfast plate over medium with bacon and pancakes. They were nice enough to "split" the toast between one wheat and one rye to satisfy our different tastes.
Everything was solid, just as you'd expect from this type of restaurant...served hot and fresh off Dad's spatula! Wanted to also comment on the pancakes, they were both quite large and super-fluffy making for a very hearty breakfast.
Kinda sad it took us so long to give this family-run restaurant a try, but am certain we'll be back!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 73119161May 3, 2023
First timer here. We were on the hunt for a basic diner and we found it! The spot is small and slickly divey with exactly the kind of diner food you're looking for and remember. Pancakes were flavorful and fresh. Eggs were scrambled with a little bit of fluff. I really enjoyed my Denver omelet that had just the right ratio of toppings inside. Oh and the home fries--exactly what I was craving with crispy outsides.
The bacon was crispy. Coffee was actually good (hard to find at a diner). Staff was friendly. Decor and ambiance is typical retro diner style with sit-at bar stools and booths. Very cozy and homey. We will def be back again.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Monique B.Avon, OH594Feb 25, 2024
Came here as I found this place on IG. I never got greeted. In fact a couple came in after me and they sat them before me. Both men that worked up front ignored me as if I legit wasn't standing there.
Maybe I'm the wrong skin color for this placeHelpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - Stephen L.Cleveland, OH383413494Jan 26, 2024Updated review
Always great service. Consistency in their traditional breakfast menu. Always a pleasure to sit and eat here.
Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Feb 18, 2014Previous reviewHave not been here since I was 18, super pumped when I realized it was still open and under the same great ownership! THis was my go-to a decade ago and just may re-acquire the throne for places to eat breakfast.
Coffees not the best, not the worst and the food is pretty much what you ask for and expect. There is no mind blowing menu that you will catch yourself staring blindly at for 20 minutes trying to decide what to order. It is a self- sustaining business that survives on a good customer base and supreme clientele, just like GFK. It is family owned and operated and that has a presence throughout the place. It is one of those places you almost have the feel you can talk to anyone in the place comfortably.
Like I said, it has a lot of sentimental value behind it for me and great memories "of the highest grade!" :) - Nov 6, 2022
Wow what a great lunch!
I'm friends on twitter with John skrtic from the library & he's good at tweeting these shout outs to local joints. Great food great prices great service, nice family. This diner has it all.
Really was great service, friendly folks & its legitimate. Nice parking lot too. Went on Sunday @ noon & they were busy but used to it. Great turnover nobody waits. Generally they wait at the counter seats until a table opens up. We sat right away end of the counter.
Both had the famous or very popular anyway egg sandwich. Mine on wheat toast with sausage & feta. Great home fries come with. Fast out the kitchen, piping hot. Delicious little sausage omelette sandwich. Buttery. Just great. Coffee was fantastic. Mom & sons were so friendly. When it's real u don't have to go out of your way in the service industry.
Great place! 5 stars. Cash only. Long live the shore restaurant. By 5 o clock lounge as a bonus. Breakfast & lunch hours but there are entrees on the menu. GO.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - Jul 3, 2023
Once again started out for breakfast at one place and ended up at another. The Shore Restaurant will not disappoint although it has limited seating the food makes it worth the trip. All the staff was attentive and the coffee cup was never let go empty.
