Dropped my spoiler off to Brandon because he said he could match the paint to my car. before he even started the process he went through extra steps to insure the paint would match. when I went to pick the spoiler up and seeing it for the first time I knew it was going to match. I wish I would have known about him sooner becuse I went to 3 different shops with my previous spoiler and none of them went through the extra steps he did to insure the paint would match. I will definitely be a repeat customer and would recommend Brandon and Showcase Auto to any of my friends or family. Great customer service and great work.

As I stated in my first post - I was going to post after the first couple of problems but as the weeks and months went by, more serious problems followed. As to why I didn't call Mike to talk over my concerns about the problems and take my car back to him. 1) Mike never answers his phone or emails. His excuse is he's working and talking on the phone prevents him from completing your vehicle but as he promised me my car would be ready in April but was evasive month after month avoiding my calls and emails (which elevated my stress levels) eventually getting my car back to me in early October almost eight months later.
2) Would you take your car back to someone that, when you went to pick it up, found it far from ready? The hood and driver's fender did not match up with a big gap between them. When I pointed this out to Mike, he replied, "well, what do you want me to do about it?" This should have been rectified BEFORE he painted the car. It took him and his helper 45 minutes to close the gap. The transmission was shifting funny. Mike's answer? He said he would drive my car back to Reston Va if I was to worried about driving it. My clock didnt work because Mike refused to listen to me and install an all new Painless wiring system when the car was apart and easy to do. He bitched when he couldn't find the right wires among the "spaghetti" wiring under the dash. He screwed up and put a hole in my dash installing the traffic viewer when I repeatedly told him numerous times it just screwed in place of an existing screw in the windshield molding without drilling a hole. I live with that every day and it doesnt work now as it's too far over. Mike claims he's an expert as polishing stainless and yet , he missed four or five dents in the old stainless and when I pointed one out to him upon picking the car up, he said, " Oh yeah, I saw that". Well if he SAW that well before he told me the car was ready to pick up, why on earth wouldn't he have fixed it??" The fact is, he didnt care enough. I treated Mike with great respect, paid him cash and gave him gifts but after a while began to realize, he was just another shoddy, uncaring business owner who talked the talk but didn't walk the walk. The driver window didn't roll down all the way so Mike told my "all 57's are like that". Right, that's why before I took my car to him, the window rolled down all the way. And as I said in my first post, his helper threw away my burglar alarm system responder that was attached to the old windshield and Mike never offered to take the $500 cost off the bill or replace it. My a/c hose to the unit was snapped off (again stated in my earlier post) and nothing was mentioned and I found out it leaked water back into the a/c unit almost damaging a $900 Classic air unit. I had to fix it myself. As for the paint job, it was overall very good but there is one orange peel spot that my eye keeps going to.
My point is; why take your car back to someone who blatantly screwed it up while he had it and didn't care enough to address the glaring problems before you pick it up?
Note: I am still coming across car owners who have taken their car to Mike and have the same story as I do. In fact, one of Mike's vendors who I took my car to after picking it up from him, said others that have gone to Mike have complained to him too they are not happy with the job Mike did on their car.
I would look elsewhere for a body and paint restoration shop as it will not be worth the high anxiety and many problems with your car after you pick it up if you take it to Showcase.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

I'm still confused by Rona's statements. I went above and beyond the original plan of action for this car. They know this. Everyone that worked on the car knows this. Speaking so ill of someone publicly and trying to harm the business shows how she is as a person. She knows the hard work that went into making their car show worthy, which it was when it left my shop. Emails from John state this several times like the ones copied below.
There was correspondence between John and I to correct items. Anyone who rebuilds cars for a living can tell you tweaking needs to be done. Why does it matter how long it took to get a hood and fender gap fixed??? I'm not sure why his wife would say these things. All I can say is I wish them well.

Subj: Re: Belle's Restoration: a sneak preview
Mike - I shut down my computer at work at 4pm and went to dinner and a movie right after. When I got home, I turned on my PC at 9:30 and saw all of the photos. I guess I didn't mean for Pam to send them until after we picked up Belle but as I opened the older ones first and saw the floor and minitubs of about three months ago and then saw the newer ones that must be have been taken about 2 weeks ago....WOW!!! The color is awesome and so bright and deep! I am glad you found the original Sierra Gold...Belle is going to be on of a kind 57! The stainless and grille is beyond great! The engine upper radiator hose is super cool! I kind of wished that I could have a virtual reality tour and pan around more. I am glad I likened you to Michelangelo...its the right analogy.
You have really transformed our Belle.....she is in a super class now! I picked the right restorer that's for sure!
John
Mike,
Here are some photos of some 57's at the show (360 cars attended) ...the red one is drab...the underside of the hood all painted the same ...no creativity...and not even the blue one would have been competition for Belle...note the cheesy under hood insulation...bad!
FYI - Belle got accepted for the East Coast indoor Nationals show in December in Timonium MD and Autorama in Cincinnati Ohio. And that was from the before photos.

Hi Mike,
We'll be bringing Belle down this Wednesday morning to get the last few "bugs" taken care of and to pick up the new keys to the door locks.
Also, please call your guy at Refinish Solutions and get the paint codes for the Sierra Gold and Adobe Beige as Iam going to my friends house in Hagerstown this weekend to make the show columns and stanchions. I found the Fairfax store (five minutes from my work off gallows rd) and going there this Friday to get the paint.
We also have something for Pam & you (not the big surprise...that's held up a bit for a creative change) and not the book yet...final captions are being written) which we'll bring down..
John
The car has been on these websites as well after it left my shop. How is someone that is displeased with a car willing to show it everywhere? It has won several awards also.

AND: https://www.carlisleevents.com/pdf/2016_GM_SpecialAwards.pdfMar 15, 2016Previous reviewI picked up my 57 Chevy from Mike in October 2014. I have waited until now to post about all of the problems I had with the car since picking it up because every month, when I was about to post and thought what other problem can surface?...another one did. Now after a year and a half, I am confident I found only of the problems that were directly related to Mike putting the car back together. Some of the problems below were serious problems that could have resulted in death or severe injury had I not had competent help from a professional mechanic friend and a couple of shops. Mike will tell you there are many shade tree mechanics out there...unfortunately, I found out, he is at the top of the list.
Loose transmission cable nut (very serious problem especially since we were driving two hours away at night...car would not shift out of park...somebody simply didn't tighten the transmission cable
nut...unbelievable!
Missing shims in upper control arm...caused bad steering problems
Wrong size bolt in lower shock attachment...really shoddy work...they lost the bolt and didn't replace it with the right size
Missing brake line brackets (2)
Exhaust pipe hitting leaf springs - made noise and was scraping the pipe
Wheel bearings too tight...really simple adjustment...mechanics 101
Brake booster ply rod not adjusted correctly when new booster put on causing death wobble - this was a serious problem that wiped out my master cylinder (very expensive to replace as it was chrome) and was very scary at highway speeds...and could have caused a fatal accident. Much money and time went into finding the problem when a simple adjustment of two seconds on the booster rod when Mike put in a new booster would have prevented death wobble
Headlight buckets rusted (re-used for frame off restoration) ....really shabby to use the old parts on a frame off resoration!
Brakes lines from proportioning valve crossed over and hitting each other- mechanics 101
Brake calipers have rust on them...had to repaint - no attention to detail
Inner fender had to be painted -rust on them- no attention to detail
Rear brake calipers were on upside down! Just plain stupid....I would know not to do this!!!
Traffic viewer prism on dash was mounted wrong...Mike drilled a hole in the dash when it should have been mounted in one minute by taking out a screw in the windshield molding I told Mike twice where to mount it eight months before the car was ready.
$500 python security system windshield cable lost and wiring all not connected and not found - the guy that takes apart the cars does not care. The alarm responder was left on the old windshield when I picked it up and nobody noticed it on there. Mike's moto is, "if it worked when the car was brought in then it should work when it leaves". When I complained the alarm didn't work, Mike did not offer to buy a new cable and hook it back up. No customer service! I had to pay $100 for the shop that first installed it to connect it back up.
I suggested twice during the restoration that the wiring harness be replaced but Mike said it was fine then later complained that he couldn't find what wire went to what when there was a problem with the clock not working. Mike thinks he knows what's best and then later when a huge mistake is made...states that maybe he should have done it differently (when he has to sort out a wiring problem after the car is put back together. Since then, I've had two serious shorts which could have caused a fire.
Rear brake light (passenger) stayed on ...Mike said it was an electrical short and said it was fixed but the problem persisted until a six months ago when it was discovered the brake booster rod was not adjusted correctly which kept the brake pedal down when the car was put in park. - Nola C.Fredericksburg, VA03Aug 22, 2016
If you're a car enthusiast, you know that you don't trust your classic car to just anyone. We trusted Showcase Auto Body to restore not only our 72 Cutlass but our 67 Ford Galaxie, and soon, our 69 Torino Talladega. Mike and the gang at Showcase brought our Cutlass and Galaxie back to their original glory with their precision body work and flawless paint jobs. Both vehicles look like they just drove off the showroom floor and we are constantly receiving compliments on both of them. No matter what we asked Mike to do on our cars, he always exhibited a "can do" attitude regardless of how complex the job might be. He was very helpful during the restoration process and always gave us honest advice and kept us updated throughout both restorations. He documented the process by taking photos which, as any car fanatic knows, are invaluable for record keeping purposes. Another plus is that he charged reasonable and fair prices for the work he performed. We were extremely impressed and amazed with the quality of work and the meticulous detail that Mike and his guys put into their work. We have recommended Showcase Auto to many friends and fellow car club members who need work done on their classics. As for the shop itself, everyone is very personable, helpful, and professional. We are very pleased with all the work Mike has done for us so far and it truly shows every single time we drive our cars anywhere. We would recommend Showcase Auto Body to anyone who needs their favorite classic car brought back to life.
