This was my 35th move and I would call it the second worst of those 35. Almost every piece was damaged in someway. Sometimes I found it as they were unloading and I found others later. They said well we'll just fill out a damage report. You damaged a dining room table from 1840. What price do you want me to put on my great great great grandmother's table? It went on and on. They complained about the heat. It was only 80°. They complained about my furniture. I had personally moved these pieces multiple times, multiple flights of stairs by myself. What the hell were they complaining about. This was my most expensive move out to 35 and I would not recommend this company to anyone. They constantly bragged about all the antique furniture they move. Really? Cause you're damaged a lot of mine. Oh, and then they dumped broken glass, not in the trash, put in a 30 pound bag of cat food that I did had to throw in the trash. I go buy another one.

Great moving company! Everything has been smooth, with no drama. Friendly people.

Mike Thomas surveyed our stuff and quickly gave me an estimate. He had no problem when I wanted to make some adjustments, we had some furniture we discovered would not work at our upcoming house in Portland. He even responded when I called him at night! He fired up his computer and got us answers. Total professional.

Tondra Knight was right on time with the paperwork, again, no surprises and very friendly. She also offered me moving boxes and she set up the transport of our car, from Greenville to Portland, Oregon!

Of course I checked www.protectyourmove.gov and found that Smith Dray has no complaints reported at the U.S. Dept Of Transportation website.

Being a crazy radio person, I've actually moved about 18 times around the country. I can tell you that Smith Dray is one of the great moving companies!

Our move went very smoothly with Smith Dray Line's Charleston office. Kellie Young gets the biggest kudos since she staying in communication throughout our move from Charleston, SC to the Denver area. Everyone we came in contact with was very professional and pleasant. There was some damage incurred to the house due to an oversized piece of furniture we moved out but, the claim was taken care of very quickly.

I highly recommend Smith Dray Line for al things moving related.

We've moved several times around the country for work, and our most recent move during March of 2017 was our 4th major move of greater than 1k miles. We used Smith-Dray in Greenville and they were by far the BEST movers we've ever hired! I contacted 3 different companies for this move and from the beginning it was clear that Atlas & Smith-Dray seemed to actually care the most.

We hired them to do all of our packing and they packed up the entire 2000 sq ft house in under two hours. They handled our stuff with care, delivered our furniture 5 days early, and were cheaper than they initially quoted. Plus, you work with the same agent/contact person throughout the entire process making it way easier to do business with them. Leslie Snell was our agent and she was incredible!

If you're moving anywhere in the Greenville area (to or from), I would highly recommend using them!

Smith Dray handled our move from the Charleston area to Venice, Florida. We did lots of research and Smith Dray had a better record than the others. But what a disappointment.

We were made promises about how certain things would be packed, such as the mattress being boxed. None were kept; the driver, a contract driver with his own rig, just said "No, we don't do it that way". To their credit Smith Dray paid for someone to box the mattress properly at the storage space our stuff was taken to, but that's about all I can give them credit for.

Several pieces of furniture were broken; we only caught one at the at the time of the dropoff, which we were informed AFTER they put all the stuff in storage was the last time we could make a claim! What shits! We would have had to pull whatever we wanted to examine back out of the storage space while they waited, at the end of the day when everyone was tired, so we only got a brief look at whatever was in front. They also squeezed the bottom freezer door on the French door fridge to where it will not slide in or out smoothly and we must replace it ourselves for $700, $200 more if the slides are damaged.

We wrapped all our own pictures ourselves, with the exception of two mirrors, two large pictures, and a TV. Our wrapped stuff survived. One mirror they wrapped was damaged; their wrapping on some of the other items was inferior.

We put a prominent star on some boxes that we wanted put aside and not put into storage. The workers couldn't hold that thought for the three hours of unloading, though we reminded them several times, and some very important boxes went into storage where it took a lot of effort to find them. If I could take back the tip I gave each worker I would. If you want to pull aside anything so it doesn't go into storage, you must not rely on these types, you must stand there YOURSELF and look at every item that comes off the truck.

Another reviewer thought that the fact Smith Dray had no complaints at protectyourmove.gov was a good sign. Well, that site takes complaints about fraud, which is not the same as incompetence and indifference.

Would I use Smith Dray again? No, I wouldn't.

Having moved 23 times in the past 40yrs we were extremely disappointed with the move and especially the storage of our household goods.

      1) Large painting totally LOST after they mistakenly brought it to our home instead of storage.
      2) Large iron base of marble topped antique wall/shelf unit LOST.

All claims on these items have been denied by Lisa Stevens, Claim Manager

The folks in the Greenville office were a pleasure to deal with, and I saved a lot of money being able to get free boxes from their warehouse. All appointments were kept on time, including moving day. Everyone, including the movers and craters, was polite at all times and did what we asked them to do.
Most of the move went well, but 6 pieces of furniture were damaged. Nearly all were repaired (and repaired beautifully!), but one was not (an antique chair), and it should have been. The man in charge didn't mark it on the forms, though he said he did.
When it came time to unpack at our destination, only 2 men were on the truck, so it took them forever and they were understandably exhausted, especially since the weather during the drive was horrendous. If they had more men with them, they wouldn't have just shoved the last few pieces in the garage, which is where some of the damage occurred.
I would use them again, but I would be more careful to see that damages were recorded and that they were going to have enough movers at the destination.
