One of the best breakfasts I have had in 2024. A waffle with blueberry compote and lemon lavender whipped cream. Absolutely perfect. Service was quick and they were able to seat us within a reasonable timeframe for such a busy weekend (solar eclipse.) Highly recommend.

Sneakers Bistro is my go-to brunch place in the area. It's walkable, and there's enough street parking nearby. The one thing I don't love is that you can't make reservations. I saw another review that said sneakers "can't handle the traffic" and this is true. Definitely not the place to be at 1130am on a weekend. If you're going on a high traffic day, arrive at open.
The eggs Benedict here are really fantastic and the primary reason I love it here. But some other great reasons are the drinks; the coffee drinks are decadent, they offer vegetarian and dairy free options for almost everything, and the brunch cocktails are creative and fun. It's a fantastic location for a casual brunch gathering.
The staff here are also really lovely. So friendly, and always offered my dog a bowl of whipped cream and water. It's well lit and the portions are large.
It's important to note that they are not diligent about cross-contamination. Celiacs and people with severe allergies be aware of this.

I was looking forward to this place but came out very disappointed. From the quality of the food to the service, I wouldn't recommend it. We ordered the benedicts but the eggs were basically hard boiled. They definitely don't know how to poach eggs.
The service was awful. Our waitress was uninterested and we had to call her to the table to even refill the coffee, something when eating at a diner should be automatic.
Best part of breakfast were the home fries. The rest was forgettable.
Street parking but you have to pay $1 hour.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - May 27, 2023
The food was phenomenal, I just wouldn't recommend coming on a holiday weekend or a graduation weekend/Monday. It's a lovely small business that can't handle the traffic. You can put your name on a waitlist via their website, but then you have to be diligent about letting them know you've arrived (our young family members were anything but diligent!)
Get the pancakes! They were actually better than my own homemade ones! If you're vegan, the hash was soooo tasty! Everything was absolutely delish. Even the coffee!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Apr 28, 2023
Overall a nice experience. The omelets were fresh and sour dough bread very nice. Only irritating thing is they charge extra for EVERY CUP of coffee you drink!
What kind a crap is that??? They don't even tell you up front. Pfft next time somewhere else.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Apr 10, 2023
Very friendly service. Nice selection of foods and all with veggie options.
We had the hash. It is Smokey in a good way. The peppers are chopped finely, which is good because otherwise green pepper ruins it for me
Lots of Benedict options
Good chai latte
Fruit side all with ripe choices even in winter

Food was okay. Had chicken waffle with sausage gravy and eggs. Should have asked for gravy on the side because waffle gravy mush is not very appetizing. The fried chicken was too dry, gravy was tasty though. Irish coffee was way too milky. Hash dish was meh. Place is cute, service adequate, although someone seemed unhappy since dishes were crashing loudly into collection bins. Not sure the food is appealing enough to try it again.

So, the last time I reviewed Sneakers was well before they renovated. Twice. The second time, they added an upstairs. GAME. CHANGER. Now you can go and there might still be a line but it will likely move faster than before! Don't forget to check their online waitlist system--you can put your name in before you get there.
Since they changed the system, I can more appropriately rate their food. The last time I went, they had a shrimp and grits that was beautifully made, with lots of butter and shrimp. I couldn't finish it...and that's the nice thing about Sneakers: the portion sizes are still there. Granted, the cost is kind of high, but you're getting what you want.
And if what you want is a basic breakfast, they have that. If you want something more interesting, they have that. Coffee is endless and I really appreciate the super nice waitstaff who kept pouring...maybe I didn't need that extra three cups but between the food, the table of eight they set up especially for us upstairs, and the great service, I couldn't help myself!
Overall: GREAT now that they have more space!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0May 5, 2015Previous reviewI have such mixed feelings for Sneakers. The food is extremely consistent but I can't say it's worth the hour-long wait to be seated despite the expansion. I really want to love this place but I'd much rather head to Libby's or get a bagel sandwich elsewhere for half the price and no wait. Sorry, sneakers...you're that really hot guy that all the girls love but lacks any personality...no, scratch that--you're fun when alcohol is involved.
One piece of good news--they actually have a computer system where they text you (like most city restaurants now) when your table is ready. You can also get drinks at the Monkey House next door and, if you wait long enough, sometimes a waiter will bring you samples of treats, most likely to avoid hangry riots at their door. Yes, all of the above are good additions, but it's confusing to me that they have to go to such extreme lengths for mediocre food.
Overall: good if you love waiting...and waiting...and waiting. - Lynn R.Burlington, VT031Jan 29, 2024
We will certainly be heading here again for breakfast I had poached eggs on sourdough toast with a side of bacon. Everything was delicious, the coffee was good and the service was fabulous! Can't wait to go again and try some of the other items on the menu.

This is a go to place if you want a delicious breakfast/brunch any day of the week. I would recommend the eggs Benedict but most everything on the menu is great. Seating can fill up fast so get there early.
