I had a very great experience with SoHea. She's caring, dedicated and gave a good advice (aftercare) as well as suggested the best style which suits me and my hair type. The process was fun, exciting and I loved the Korean snacks so much!

Much Overdue review, but this is my second time getting hair done by Sohea and I can't recommend her enough. She's the only person I trust with my hair at this point, and always gets the vision down! She makes intuitive recommendations and suggestions and is always attentive of her clients.

It can be overwhelming to try and find your "go-to" hair colorist, especially with so many businesses and IGs nowawadays saturating the market, but I would really recommend checking Sohea because she has a wide range of experience from bright pastel colors to ashy brown grays, and can do a variety of services including haircuts.

Not only does she use the most highest quality products, she's very knowledgeable on hair care and what product to use. Based on her recommendations and instruction, I was able to maintain my previous hair color after the appointment with her for over a year. I do not mind spending the money here because the quality and service is well worth it!

I would park in the garage so you can avoid feeding the meter! Her studio is very clean, spacious and has a great ambiance. She did a great job renovating the space, and the snacks she provides are a plus!!

I've been to Sohea twice now for very different services and she is amazing!

Global Bleach:
I first went to her to get my global bleach roots touch up, which is a difficult service, especially for Asian hair that takes at least 2 rounds of bleach to get to a clean blonde level. She does not skimp on the olaplex and k18 and my hair felt stronger after my appointment! She really cares about keeping the integrity of your hair even for something as harsh as global bleach. If the maintenance wasn't so hard, I would have loved to continue being blonde and keep seeing Sohea for this!

All over dye, tone, and haircut:
I just saw Sohea for the second time to take my hair back dark for low maintenance. I also wanted a specific haircut I brought reference pictures for, and she nailed it! I'm so happy with the way my hair turned out. She listens closely to what you are looking for and it's a conversation to determine the end result you're going for.

Posting my 1-year update with SoHair, and I am happy to consider myself a regular! I leave my appointments feeling incredibly pleased with the outcome every single time.

Sohea usually gives me the result I'm looking for based on the inspo photos I show, or she will give a practical alternative that works for my current undertone based on her expect opinion.

It's apparent that Sohea invested a lot of time and money into designing this new location to ensure that all clients feel comfortable while receiving high quality service. We're spoiled with K18 and we don't have to deal with with stiff necks from uncomfortable shampoo bowls nor sore backs from cheap salon chairs. ;)

First time getting my hair done so make of it what you will, but Sohea was very understanding and willing to go back and forth on everything I needed to do after the appointment and before it.
Pricing could definitely be considered high, but I also did ask for a lot so depends on what you want to get done. Definitely happy with what I finished with and I'd go back for sure.

Sohea is a hair magician! She is one of the kindest hair artists I've ever met. She actually listened to what I was looking for. She really understands Asian hair, which made me feel comfortable and just trust her. She genuinely cares about the coloring process, which made it even more exciting.

During our session, she did masks on my hair, making it even healthier. She took her time and checked on my hair the whole time. She was able to get the exact color(s) I wanted. I was scared to bleach it because of prior experiences. She exceeded my expectations!

Sohea answered my questions before, during, and after my appointment. I had so many! She was honest and transparent about what she can do. She gave me advice on taking care of it. I appreciate all of it.

I am so glad I found her! I look forward to trying different looks and styles with her. Above all, she has the sweetest personality, which is rare these days!

Sohea is such a talented stylist & I'm thrilled to have my first "post Pandemic" makeover by her. Came across her salon on Yelp and reached out for pricing and timing. She responded quickly with answers. She was cordial to interact with, so without hesitation I booked her. I actually had another appt booked, but decided to cancel since she gave me better vibes, and her work displayed on Yelp gave me the confidence to trust her. Im a firm believer in that you get what you pay for. If you want a great makeover, you need to pay for the expertise. I think her price is competitive for her experience and the Bay Area.

Spent 4 hours getting a cut, color, and highlights. She listened to what I wanted but added her spin. Showed me client photos for inspiration. I didn't intend for ash blonde, but the outcome turned out to be a pleasant surprise. I was the only person there the entire time, which made me feel like I got a VIP treatment. Also great to have that peace of mind during COVID to limit interaction with others, even if I'm fully vaccinated. Sohea is just all around a pleasure to work with. I had to extend parking during the session, and she voluntarily went out to extend the meter for me. Since I had a head of foil.

She gave me complimentary curls after we were done, and we did a fun photo shoot in the end. I'm LOVING my new hair and feel like a changed woman! My hair is now light and airy with slight layers. Can easily say my first cut and color in the Bay was a success! I'm already looking forward to my next visit. But first, Summer here I come!!!

I specifically searched for Asian balayage for unique colors (in my case, purple) on Yelp and voila. Sohea's business immediately stood out with its amazing photos from past clients, who had vibrant, healthy, and gorgeous-looking hair from their sessions. I saw some colors close to what I was looking for and knew this was it.

I had an appointment for a haircut + color on Tuesday, March 15, 2022 at 9:30am. I arrived promptly and Sohea was ready to go.

Pro-tip: park at the Old First Garage for $15 all-day parking! It's a 5-10 minute walk up Polk St. to the salon and you'll pass Bob's Donuts :)

Sohea is incredibly responsive, thoughtful, and thorough. From the moment I reached out on IG she immediately asked for pics of my current hair and my hair inspo for cut + color. She gave two color options with approx. price points, one with all-over bleaching and one without. She was realistic in providing pics of what we could likely achieve (dusty lavender rather than silvery lavender) based on my current hair color (which had a bronde balayage and was darker in the back than the front). I really appreciated our communication before I even stepped in the salon.

Day of, we talked through everything and Sohea was patient + clear as she explained where my hair was at and what we could do together. This was super helpful for me. Once aligned, we moved forward with a toning session (without bleach). With a wet cut and toning, that finished ~2 hours in. My hair came out mushroom brown with some hints of purple, but purple wasn't quite visible as hoped (maybe 5-10%). After discussing, we decided to go with all-over bleach and Sohea worked quickly to make sure I ended up with a color that I enjoyed. Bleach, toning (second sesh), and completing my hair with a dry cut + curl took another approx. 5 hours. She was efficient and precise throughout. Amazing care and skill. I was at the studio for just over 7 hours from start to finish.

My hair turned out great!! The original dusty lavender color was gorgeous. It stayed for a couple weeks (I washed it 2x with blue malva shampoo + conditioner on the ends only) and has settled into a beautiful ashy grey now. I love how it looks :) I love my cut, too!

The original total for cut + color (going from dark bronde balayage to all-over purple, except my roots) was $890 pre-tip. She deducted $100 for the first toning session as it hadn't quite turned out as purple as hoped; my receipt came to $790.

Sohea was super friendly, warm, and thoughtful throughout the entire process. She gave me matcha mocha from Jina Bakes to snack on during the start of my appointment and bought my salad for lunch, too! She also provided specific recommendations for hair care (hair masks, oils, etc.) and maintenance during our time and after, when I followed up on IG. I got everything and my hair looks healthy and great 4 weeks later.

Sohea is such an extremely skilled and talented PRO. I would trust her with my hair or anyone else's, any day. I am such a fan of my results and would definitely recommend Sohea. I'm so happy to have found SoHair and will definitely be back!!

This review has been long overdue since I got my hair done at Sohea's back in January and it was AMAZING!!!

I was recommended by a friend and she gave me Sohea's number for a text consultation. She gave me a rundown, price estimate based on what I want to be done, and boom my appointment was made.

On the day, she was very nice and caring, making sure I was ok, whether it was during the bleaching process. The area was nice and clean, and she was constantly changed her gloves and cleaning up while working. She was super friendly as we occasionally chat throughout the whole process. She gave professional suggestions and recommendations on how to achieve my desired color and walk me through the entire process so I know what is going on and what is being put on my hair.

After around 6(?) hours, I left with the most BEAUTIFUL blue hair that I've always dreamed of. She also gave me lots of tips on how to maintain my blue hair and what type of products to use after. Overall, I was happily content and happy when I left the studio. I can't wait to go back again when I feel like getting a new color. THANK YOU SOHEA YOU'RE THE BEST
