So, the food was delicious however if i judged placed by their cleanliness i would have ran out of here before god got the news. every baseboard and wall needed a real good wipe downs. service went well. the guy was polite and the food didn't take too long i would go here again and i would recommend this place if cleanliness is not important to you. just a tip that (lil container) spicy as crap omgggggg don't be fooled that ain't no joke but it's very flavorful. but seriously this little bit could last u 10 years cause a little goes a LLLOOOONNMGGGG way

My jollof rice was so spoiled I could smell it through the aluminum pan and bag. Spent 79$ worth in food and threw everything out. NEVER AGAIN. Be aware of places freezing the food and reserving it. Especially African food

On a hot, draining day, I set out to eat something from every section in this menu. Here is my story.
On UberEats, this place was easily a 20 minute drive, but it was quickly accepted and the food came within the allotted time.
Jallof rice and lamb- rice was delicious and plentiful- came in a giant warm tray. Lamb was just a tiny corner of the pan, so portions might've been small, but understandable. Lamb was flavorful.
Red oil, potato greens and rice- Had an odd flavor to it, a little strong for my taste. But the greens and oil tasted good, just the smell was strong, so beware.
The peanut butter soup and fufu was amazing. I couldn't get enough of it. It changed my mind about cooking and combining flavors, and I think it had fish in it, even though I asked for beef in it. Still tasted good.
Goat and plantains had a similar issue as the lamb- a huge portion of attieke but not so much meat. Portions of carbs are large to make up for the little bit of meat. Personally, I'd rather pay less for the meat with a lot less carbs. I could never finish that much rice!
They were out of rice bread, a dessert that I ordered, so I subbed it out for a soda.
Overall, miscommunication and changed orders knocked it down a peg, but this place was fresh, fast, and I would highly recommend for someone trying to eat some new food and splurge a little bit.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jon a.Somerton, Philadelphia, PA01Mar 22, 2023

I've been on a quest to get back to the roots and eat some African food! I'm glad that I was able to eat at Soul of Africa after being highly recommended.
Let me start by saying this, do not expect high levels of customer service. When I arrived, they were having some issues with POS system. I waited several mins prior to someone speaking to me and asking to take my order. Nonetheless, the gentleman here was t super talkative but was nice.
Okay onto the food. If there one thing to take away from this review: BE CAREFUL WITH THE HIGH SAUCE. This not American high sauce, this shit is no joke. Try a dab before you sprinkle it onto your food or it could potentially ruin your meal.
Jallof Rice - I thought it would have been a little bit more flavorful but it was tasty
Red Snapper - BOMB! Cooked to perfection I would 100% order again
Plantains (not show ) - also delicious.
I'd definitely Rec commend and I look forward to going back and trying some other authentic African dishes.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Shanee B.Philadelphia, PA02Apr 17, 2023
Food is really good. They sometimes tend to over cook the fish. But I was taken back the time I was there normally I call ahead and the food is ready when I pick it up. But this time I had to wait just a lil. And it was then that I realized how dirty the place is sad to say. I won't be back

I had the fufu and egusi and it was my very first time trying the dish so it's my first impression, I don't have any other experience to compare it to. But It was delicious and spicy. The chicken was a bit tough but that was minor. The flavors were great. A generous amount of food as well, I could barely finish it all as the fufu is very filling! Would def try other dishes from here soon
