      As a dessert lover who tries to avoid sugar and wheat (not easy), I was lucky to be at Whole Foods Pasadena on a day when the charming founders of St. Amour Susan and Daniel Nicholas were handing out samples of their amazing madeleines. My favorites are the dark almond-orange or white chocolate dipped lemon-vanilla ones, which are just as satisfying as their wheaty-sugary counterparts (actually a little denser, which I happen to like), except they're wheat/gluten-free and have only 2.5 grams of sugar.
