Stary Port (literally "Old Port") is a cellar bar with a nautical theme. On the wall hangs diving equipment, while fishing nest decorates the ceiling. At one table you'll find yourself next to an aquarium. At other--a model sailboat. The bar is one of those quirky places that predate the explosion of hipper establishments following Poland's entry into the EU. As such, it has a certain unique charm. Beer is relatively cheap. Another notable plus is the fact that there's mobile reception (unless you sit deep in the bar).

One of the few places in Krakow with good cocktails...both in terms of price and quality. For the most part to ask for a martini and expect to get what you get at a bar in the US; same for a decent bloody Mary. But you get what you expect at Stary Port together with cellar bar atmosphere and live music. One of the better night spots that isn't crowded with the tourist traffic the fills places but a few blocks away around Market Square. I've only been once. More visits may well get it another star.

This is a lovely basement bar where the waitress kindly cut off my poor attempts to pronounce the name of the beer I wanted (Lezajsky!), which was quite a cheap pint (about £1.20). I missed the unusual drinks I have since heard they sell (I am hoping Whale's milk is a cocktail!)
The décor in this bar is very very cool. Lots of nautical posters and paraphernalia (including the front of a boat and an ex-parrot in a cage). Half of the bar is smoking and half non-smoking (which was quite nice as the smoking ban has not yet been introduced in Poland so some bars are far too smoky). I think the bar may be a bit of a student hang out (judging by the look of the clientele), but don't let that put you off.
This pub is only slightly outside the main centre of Krakow and is definitely worth the short walk.
I am torn between 4 or 5 stars...but as it was probably my favourite bar in Krakow, I'm going to give it a 5!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Qype User (filcha…)Copenhagen, Denmark3058292778Jan 27, 2009
Well well, not so well liked by the locals, no. However, I can't give this dive of a drinking hole any less than 4 stars, because when I left my camera and all my lenses there after one drunken evening, they were all there the next day!
It's a cellar affair, right near the university so tends to be packed with students. The crowd are really friendly, and it seemed cheap to us, but no idea about the relative pricing of things. Yes there are nicer bars in Krakow, but I'd definitely give it a go!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
