Honestly, the album selection is good, books selection amazing! CD's on the wall, fair prices, the service there was good, gives you tons of space and a big variety to choose from!

Amazing local record and bookshop. Offers many music formats including LP's, Cassettes, and CDs. Have a great book selection and even some photography gear (digital and 35mm film). The best record shop in North Jersey!

The Station 1 buyer is super picky about vinyl which means many of the used albums offered here look new, with clean pretty covers and playable unscratched discs. There's a $1 section, a $3 section, and a new arrivals section with many great selections for $5 and up; all three are completely unsorted. Check back often, the man behind the counter said their weekly turnover is in the hundreds of discs.
The used prices seemed fair to me, I bought John Coltrane's Lush Life for $5 and Miles Davis's Kind of Blue for $15. And a small bonus, those albums came in a clear plastic sleeve that went home with me (unlike certain other stores in the area).
There's also a perfectly sorted & well organized section of new pressings, priced about $25 and up.
Sorry I can't give a review of their books, CDs, cassette tapes or VHS tapes, I only had eyes for the old 33 1/3 RPM discs lol.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - R G.Hamburg, NJ031Aug 21, 2022
Been going here for a couple of years and well the staff is very unfriendly and rude to customers. They put up insulting signs by the cash register and they say they buy records. Well the prices they want to pay versus the profit margin are very wide. Matter of fact they should use a gun when buying. You only embarrass yourselves so stop advertising that you buy records. You steal them!
Based on the rude staff and condescending attitudes I will not shop in your store any longer and I will let my 100's of records show friends know about my experiences. Go to business school and learn some business educate.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - May 17, 2021
I worked with these guys when selling my vinyl collection. Joe was absolutely amazing. Spent several hours with him on a Sunday going over what I was selling. He was punctual, courteous, fun to talk to and, most importantly, he was FAIR and treated me with respect. He seemed to know how hard it was to sell my collection and he made me feel more at ease. We discussed what he believes in as far as his policies and procedures to, and it was apparent that he cares about his customers and he has a true love for music. I highly recommend this shop based on this experience. They have integrity, for sure. Check them out. They're great.

Station 1 is a shining example of how to properly run a used record / book / movie store. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Easy, clean, and comfortable to shop in. Fair and reasonable pricing. Super supportive of the local art and collector community. Inventory constantly moving which means there are new treasures to discover every time you walk in.

Had a bunch of cassette tapes, VHS tapes, vinyl records, and books to sell. Went to another store in northern NJ to see what they'd give me, and he told me he'd give me $20 for everything. I could tell right away he was low-balling me, by a lot. Decided to bring them to Station 1 and the guy took the time to go through them all and gave me a great, fair price that I was happy with. I would absolutely recommend selling to them if you have the kind of stuff they're looking for.
The place also seemed hopping the whole time I was in there, so I'm sure it's a great place to buy things from as well.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Scott H.Pompton Lakes, NJ742Mar 31, 2021
I've literally logged into Yelp, like, three times, but I love this place and feel like everyone should know how great it is.
The prices are very reasonable. Whenever I purchase a record here, I compared the price to elsewhere online. Every time, Station 1's pricing has been better. This place rules -- you get to support a local business, and they'll do what they can to make you happy. When I told the owner that I got a turntable, he actually offered to help me set it up. They've even recommended me books based on other ones I've purchased. There aren't many businesses (or people!) who are that thoughtful.
The only thing I'd change about Station 1 would be moving the (very good!) coffee shop closer and setting up some outside seating so I have an excuse to say here longer. There are not many businesses where I'd actually *want* to spend more time.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Hi. Thanks for the awesome review!

Came in looking for a turntable (upgrading from those little Crosley guys you see at Target) and the staff was incredibly helpful in telling me what I needed as well as helping me choose. The guy I spoke to took the time to help me pick out a receiver+speakers and didn't once make me feel dumb for not knowing much about record players. I'm currently listening to the setup in my living room and it sounds fantastic.
On top of that, the selection of physical media is extremely good and varied. We ended up picking up a number of things ranging from coal miner folk songs to a first press New Order LP as well as some CDs (and I didn't even get to take a look at the retro gaming stuff). If you're in North Jersey and enjoy shopping for records, games movies, and books you really have to give this place a visit.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information
