Ben, the owner continues to overdeliver on all fronts: price, customer service, and speed for fixing items. I have to vehemently disagree with Yousef since Ben is one of the most pleasant people to work with. He is fair - period. Lots of folks try to take advantage of a situation and with this company, there are no surprises.
Keep it up Ben!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

Thank you so much FOR THE REVIEW! Much appreciated Etienne..
Aug 5, 2023Previous reviewIf you're looking for not only amazing service but an establishment that truly treats you like family, this is the place. It's hard to even think about an automotive or motors repair shop that even comes close to providing superior attention especially after 20+ years of having my vehicles serviced around the US.
Ben and his son Achilles were super attentive and 100% transparent with all the costs for repairs. I had my Vespa serviced here but can't wait to eventually upgrade to a motorcycle or possibly an Indian Motorcycle (a few for sale) given their dedication to their craft. - Sergio D.Los Angeles, CA13862Mar 28, 2024
One of the best shops I have ever been to, Ben was amazing always kept me updated and treated me more as a friend that just business like other shops would. Will only be taking my bikes and my friends and family's bikes here from now on. Would recommend you guys check this shop out

I have a problem bike with lots of annoying and mysterious issues that make any mechanic scratch their heads. The dudes at Steel Buffalo made sure to take their time and get it right. Even fixing a cylinder issue free of charge! Got my bike running the best it's ever run. Finding a good bike mechanic in LA is a headache. These dudes rule.

OMG what an owner. Started off well. Ben, the owner, was nice and polite. But then, he gave me a price that is twice as much as what his son told me they will charge to do a desmo service on my Ducati 848. He later agreed to honor the original price. Things got much worse from there. The bike took more than a week and half to be serviced. Turned out the bike was taken somewhere else to be serviced and the shop is NOT the place you drop the bike off at. It's just a front. Ben refuses to tell you as the customer where the actual shop is let alone for you to go there. Then the bike came with the service light still on. I asked him why that was and he asked me to just google it and reset it myself. The shocks needed lubricants and he asked me to go to auto zone and get it myself. This prompted me to ask for a detailed bill of what he did and he refused to give me one. Finally, a month later, after pulling teeth he emailed me an itemized bill. I took that to Ducati dealership and first thing they noticed is that he didn't change the spark plugs and the timing belt. Ben claimed the timing belt doesn't need changing but the dealership said theres no way to tell and you only don't change it if you don't have the tools for it. He texted me at 1045pm randomly very nasty text message and sent me multiple yelp messages. The guy is unstable and unprofessional. For all I know, he took the bike for a week, charged me $800 and returned the bike. I don't trust anything he did. He fixed the headlight for me so I gave him the 2 stars. However he is shady and I wouldn't trust him with my bike ever again. Also, notice his responses to negative reviews.. very personal and nasty. Just watch for his response to this review.. I'm sure he'll be showing his true colors..

Sorry, zero tolerance for haters!!!
It's a pattern. you leave everyone a bad review.
You bet I get personal, it's my livelihood!
Moving forward FACTS VS STORIES:
Desmo service is $1400 at DUCATI.
I QUOTED YOU $940 THAT INCLUDED A BRAKE JOB, new pads AND REWIRING YOUR HEADLIGHT AND TAIL LIGHT. You asked for a discount, mistakenly I gave you one and charged you $715. NOT $800 AS YOU STATED.
So, I paid for the brake pads and wires. And the rewiring took 3 hours.
You didn't want to pay for the timing chain, so I inspected it, sent you a photo and told you chain is fine.
We did change the spark plugs.
Clearly you're making up reasons to trash us and hurt our business. To have DUCATI check if we changed the spark plugs would have cost you $300 (just to reach the sparks). You didn't pay Ducati to change them. . . You never changed the chain with Ducati either. . . That would have cost you $1200.
I'm a professional and if I thought the chain needed to be changed, I would have never released the bike. We are the reason that you get to ride your bike safe and sound:
We! performed the job NOT DUCATI.
As for your screenshot: since you started sending my son messages at a late hour (just like you're doing right now), I had to put a stop to it. You were harassing my son on Thanksgiving Day.
To clarify: we have two locations
2363 S ROBERTSON
8949 VENICE BLVD
The showroom and the certified repair shop respectively. You dropped off and picked up the bike at the showroom, since insurance doesn't allow customers in the working area of our certified repair shop.
That being said, I have the impression that you're coming from a place of bad faith. Your approach to this issue and your attitude more generally despite our best intentions show this. You're calling me unstable among other things, but I don't intend to diagnose you in kind. However, you aren't welcome anymore at either one of our locations anymore. You can take your business elsewhere.
Ride safe. - Josh F.Central LA, Los Angeles, CA661Nov 27, 2023
BEST SERVICE IN LA!
I've had my Harley serviced by a lot of mechanics in LA, but this was the best experience by far. Ben is fair, honest and a genuine good dude. So many bike shops around town have a pretentiousness that feels unwelcoming, but not here. I needed a big job done on my bike, and not only was the price reasonable, he basically did double the work for half the cost - at no extra cost to me. Just because he knew it was right for the bike. She now runs better than ever. I'll definitely be booking my regular tune ups here. Happy to finally have a reliable regular mechanic.Helpful 0Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0 - Reggie s.Los Angeles, CA2646Sep 10, 2022
My experience with Steel Buffalo was a rollercoaster of a journey, and I can't recommend them enough.
I have a 2004 Triumph Daytona which has been cursed from the beginning. I love the bike, but it never quite ran right. It bogged down and had flat spots in the acceleration. I had taken it to several different mechanics including the designated Triumph shop in LA. Every time I got it back it would run ok for a while and eventually the problem would come back. I was about to throw in the towel and decided as a last ditch effort to give Steel Buffalo a shot.
When I pulled up to the shop, Ben met me out front, we discussed the issues and he immediately took the bike for a test ride. Knowing the owner was personally involved in inspecting the bike was really impressive. He felt strongly they could get the bike running well and I left it with them.
When they pulled the bike apart it was obvious that someone in the past had hacked their way through repairs, cutting corners and removing vital parts. Ben immediately called me, sent me pics, and called me back to look at the bike and discuss options. Ben was super transparent and honest, and this type of integrity continued throughout the project.
The project was met by hurdle after hurdle... the pandemic hit, my bike is a classic, limited production British bike... parts are already hard to get and was amplified during the pandemic. I was ready to give up on it several times... but Ben never quit.
Ultimately they resurrected the bike, I literally was looking for a new bike... Ben texted me and said it was fixed! I couldn't believe it. She runs stronger than ever, its like I got a brand new bike, I've never loved her more.
These guys aren't going to sugar coat anything, they will be honest and transparent, they will be personally invested in your bike, and if you need it, they may just work miracles.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jul 8, 2022
I've never pulled up to any bike maintenance shop or gear spot where I was greeted with such great energy. And I've taken my Harley Sportster 1200 all up and down the west coast.
I was looking for a spot to get my bike serviced and detailed and almost immediately through messaging on Yelp, I was hit back by (the awesomely named) Achilles who let me know just to bring her by and everything would be taken care of. Ben, who I get the sense is the big boss followed up and told me my bike would be fully taken care of. Sounded too easy.
But it was that easy. Ben immediately spotted additional things that would need a looking at, and the whole crew was clearly talented and trustworthy. It's been two days and they're already almost done with the "Achilles special" work around of my baby. Prices were fair. I'm only waiting on my whitewall rear tired to be delivered (COVID supply chain delays).
Everybody here knows their shit. Take your ride here.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Ali S.Los Angeles, CA113Jan 7, 2024

Took my 2007 Vespa in for service as it was not able to hold a idle and producing very little power. Ben and Achilles provided great customer service, diagnosing the problem, fixing it, and provided updates along the way. They were fully transparent about cost from the beginning. Highly recommend.
