Steve Johnson Painting

'why don't I hand you the brush since you can do a better job?' This is what Steve Johnson told my wife after we wanted parts of our wall touched up where there was color bleeding onto the white baseboards.

We were initially really excited to start with with Steve Johnson painting after meeting with 4 different painters (his estimate was significantly cheaper than everyone else). But after he got defensive when we pointed out a few spots where the lines looked sloppy or were bleeding onto the baseboards, we were definitely taken aback. Ultimately, despite the cheap price it was that defensiveness and lack of willingness to fix mistakes that turned us off.

Based on the reviews I had read I was looking forward to working with Steve, but I was left disappointed rather quickly.

Steve had set an appointment with me for between 1-1:30, earlier that morning. I arrived to my house at 1:10. After waiting for just over 35 minutes, I call Steve to see if he is still coming, but no answer. I then text him asking the same question. He responds, saying he was there "lil after 1:00", but had other appointments, so he had to go.

The curious part to me, was why didn't Steve call me, or knock on the door, after I told him someone was there to let him in? I decided to ask Steve, he responds with "left card on door, only needed answer door. My guess you were late."

So I check the door, but no card. After, I sent him a picture of my front door with no card, Steve never responds.

My guess, Steve, is that you went to the wrong house, and rather than own up to your honest mistake, you chose to put it on me. You also easily had the opportunity to cancel our appointment rather than try and jam it in to your schedule. Was your plan to knock this appointment out in less than 5 minutes?

Definitely dodged a bullet here. I would never want to work with someone who doesn't have the wherewithal to easily communicate with someone to coordinate a simple appointment. I can't imagine how he communicates during and after a job if something needs to be taken care.

Good luck to those who dare take the ride, but my guess is there is better quality out there at a similar price.

We are happy to recommend Steve Johnson painting. Steve and his crew recently painted both the inside and outside of our (large) home. In addition to painting the inside, he texturized the walls.
The work was performed in a timely manner and we are satisfied with the result.
If there is an area in question, Steve will happily return and resolve the issue. I found that he will keep his word and do what he promises......not always the case today.
Our house is Cape Cod style with shiplap and it requires more frequent painting than some. This is the fourth time in 15 years our entire home has required painting and I believe this is the best job yet. I also feel we would not have had to paint so often had we used Steve Johnson in the past.

Well folks, you can see for yourself how classy he is. Great response. For the record, you gave me a quote that was too good to be true, and I was foolish enough to take it, but smart enough to walk away when you pulled a bait and switch. The next day, I had a wonderful company do the job for $1500, and I recommend them to everyone I know. You're welcome, neighbor.

Steve just finished painting the exterior of our home. I highly recommend him. He was very professional, reasonably priced and did excellent work. He came out each day to make sure everything was ok, checked in after to make sure we were still happy and even came back to do a little touch up to our door threshold which had gotten messed up while the varnish was drying. His workers were also very professional and did a great job covering our plants and even covered our solar panels. He was great with communication and even accommodated us having to re schedule a few times before starting the job. We are overall very happy for the job he did.

Steve and his crew far exceeded my expectations. They arrived every day on time and when they left they cleaned up after themselves completely. The paint job is flawless- they did not cut any corners! My 40 year old home looks like new!

I recommend them 1000%!

Steve's painters are simply great! They are very competent in their abilities, tidy, and pleasant to work with.

A year ago, they painted the front part of our house and did a great job. When we decided to paint the back part, we didn't even bother with competitive bids because Steve's prices are reasonable and his guys are great to work with. (No attitude or exasperation. You ask, they listen, and work hard to accommodate your needs.)
