We were new to Tucson and someone recommended Stratman dental. We were pleasantly surprised by the friendly and professional atmosphere as we have experienced the opposite at other dental practices.
Kathryn, our hygienist was so upbeat and personable and puts you completely at ease.
The dentists are friendly and knowledgeable. I had a crown done and it was such a good experience I'm having another. Wish I didn't have to, but since I do, I'm glad it's with Stratman Dental!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Bryan D.Tucson, AZ01Apr 24, 2024Updated review
Don't waste your time and money. Quality and care lacking. Can not recommend their work.

I would steer clear of getting work done here. idk where he got his degree but they clearly didn't require business ethics. Can not recommend.
Apr 14, 2024Previous reviewExpensive, uncaring, incompetent and only want your money, and as soon as possible. Tried to charge me for putting a crown back on that fell off, only they didn't even put it back on. Unless you want to go through a ton of pain and have them prescribe you basically extra strength Tylenol for work you will end up having to get redone, I'd stay away from Stratman Dentistry. Its mind boggling how they think they can get away with treating people so poorly, but I guess that's what reviews are for. I cannot recommend!

They will lie about your insurance. They will tell you that you are in network and then a month later you will get a huge bill and your insurance will cover nothing. Dentist are becoming better liars than mechanics. Sad, greed is spreading.

Stratman Family Dentistry in Tucson has been our dentist for about a decade. Superb. I actually look forward to going to the dentist. Alison, who did my recent teeth cleaning, is a gem. The whole office staff are courteous and efficient.

They couldn't even match my temporary bridge to my natural tooth color so I didn't want to proceed forward with getting a permanent bridge before the work had begun and Dr. Stratman refused to refund my money, lied- saying that he had done 90% of the work already when he hadn't. I paid $3,000 for 3 yellow front teeth that are different shapes and sizes. See the picture I added.

This is an expensive review but I'm glad to share it and it ends well. The rating is not for Stratman, however. I did initially visit the oracle location for some needs and some wants. Some of which were covered by ins and some not. I was told I needed an implant in front. I knew there was some kind of issue so I trusted their diagnosis. Next step was get fitted for a temporary while the implant healed. Their imager wasn't working at the oracle office so I was scheduled to the across town location the next day to start that process. Before the appointment I considered costs and options and decided to get a second opinion. I told the Stratman office to wait so I could and they notated my acct status. The next week I visited Nogales Dental in Sonora MX. Not only was I seen by multiple professionals with new, well functioning equipment, I was treated exceptional, and cared for. They were able to save my tooth, rebuild it that very day, and with the savings I'll have room for some cosmetic items I've wanted! I drive home and asked them for my deposit money back since I had resolved the issue, and that I was still excited to use their office for the parts that insurance did cover. They read me a figure that was 500+$ less than the amount I deposited. They said they ordered the prosthetic and charged me for it. I wasn't sure how they were able to order it without the imager working so clearly I didn't not agree with their charges. I replayed my visit vocally with the staff who agreed and confirmed that my acct was notated as such. As well with the business manager, (a snippy rude one) and of course requested to speak with the actual Stratman himself and even having made an appt to do so, was still not successful in getting him on the line. Now if that doesn't say guilty ethic, I don't know what does. At this point, the doctor kept my 500 to lose my next 1800(the cash part I would pay for the covered work I still was going to do with them) and that business math lead me to cease efforts in reasoning with misplaced stubbornness.
So I had them mail the check they prepared, after having been denied to replace it to my debit card as that's how it was taken, and mail the prosthetic piece they said they made. I've paid 500 bucks for that, and this story to tell. Praise to my new friends at Nogales Dental. The office is pristine and well kept. Clean, modern decor and equipment. I couldn't find a defect in the facility either, no cracks, missing hardware, patchwork or any detail out of order. Also like 35 steps from the port. Super easy to find. Phenomenal doctor. Seriously consider it should you find yourself shopping.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Honest T.Tucson, AZ0161Sep 16, 2021
Got scammed!
I went in for a simple denture reline because my denture was a bit loose. Stratman's untrained staff over-adjusted and ruined my denture where it is falling out and there is no longer any suction. Stratman refused to take responsibility or refund his fee for my ruined denture or this incompetent service. He advised me to use glue to keep it in place! I called and had an extensive conversation with the staff at Stratman before switching dentist offices due to the fact that I'd be switching 5 people over & that is obviously a lot of work.
I was assured that this dentist was "in network" for my insurance company however I learned that they are not. I learned this literally MONTHS AFTER our appts occurred. Today I learned that I'm supposedly awaiting a statement for one of us (so far) for overdue payment since their office is out of network and I can only imagine that I will be receiving more invoices for my other family members.
Additionally, 2 of my children have dual insurance, which was something I mentioned on the phone and then again at our initial visit. Today their office called and I had to re-state that they have dual coverage when they begain to question marital status...also something that I had mentioned previously and that should have been notated in our files.
Further, I was never notified that our initial appts were to only look us over and see where our dental hygiene was currently at, as I had scheduled us for actual cleanings. I found out once we arrived to the facility on the day of our scheduled appt. This meant that my children had to miss additional time away from school and myself and spouse additional time away from work. NOT ok.
I am beyond angry that these folks are so disorganized and non-communicative but I am more angry that they were dishonest from the beginning. I must now spend additional money for these out-of-network fees and additional time finding a new dentist that can accommodate my family. I would definitely NOT recommend these folks to anyone - despite their friendliness - unless of course you have Delta Dental, who is apparently the only insurance company actually "in network" with them.
Good luck to the rest of you if you choose their office.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - Linda A.Tucson, AZ02Mar 25, 2021
I would not refer anyone to Dr. Stratman. He attempts to be a one-stop shop dental practice and his work his sub-par. I have ended up at specialists several times to have procedures re-done. He does not take responsibility for his failures and lacks transparency. His hygienist, Catherine, is absolutely incredible!

I wrote another review about this dentist but wanted to add a note about a recent visit. I broke a tooth and was fit in very quickly and boy--- do I appreciate that they were soo kind and caring. In the past I had such a fear of dentist that I would literally be shaking in the chair. I'm still nervous but I know with 100% certainty that I will be well cared for at this office!! My review is not a one time visit where they were in a good mood that day but a practice that genuinely cares for their patients.
Thank you so much for helping me to overcome my fear of dentistry. Ya'all are the BEST!!!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0Oct 30, 2017Previous reviewTo set the tone, going to the dentist is the last thing that I would want to do. BUT, it is something that is important, soo... finding a good dentist is extremely important!! I just moved to Tucson, Az in February and needed to find a dentist and my husband and daughter found this office. For me, to recommend them, I must feel very strongly and that is what I'm doing. The dentist, the hygienist, and the office staff were All Great! I still have a little anxiety but will be going in for my regular cleanings and anything else that may come up.
