First time here and won't be the last!
I was craving raw scallops and Sushi Land was nearby with good reviews. The menu is huge! A lot of various rolls and nigiri can be ordered.
I wanted some basic sashimi and as I was ordering, the waitress pointed out a combo that was nearly the same as what I ordered and less expensive. At first I did not want it as I had my heart set on a raw scallop but she said that while the sashimi is chef's choice on this combo, she would ask that they do make one piece a scallop. Yum!! I have asked at other sushi places to do this and this was the first place that would do a substitution! Bravo for excellent customer service!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Robyn C.Pontiac, MI1433934Jul 21, 2018
Love this place....not an overall sushi lover but they have a chicken cheese tempura is my foshi (fake sushi!) I can still hang out with my friends who love sushi and enjoy my meal. I've been here many times....we love the ramen and asparagus and broccoli tempura rolls.
Staff and food is always great!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Tim S.West Bloomfield Township, MI0351Aug 14, 2019
This place is about as much sushi restaurant as Steak and Shake is a Steakhouse. Steak and Shake is at least edible and in some cases flavorful. I ordered the spicy salmon, spicy tuna, hamachi and scallop rolls. All were inedible.
The immediate area is short (to say the least) on sushi restaurants, and from what I've read/heard, many who go there are newer sushi eaters (nothing wrong with that at all). The owners clearly taking advantage of that demographic, otherwise there's no way to justify the stuff that was put on a plate in front of me.
Plenty of real options out there, where you can sample how sushi should be domes, such as Sushi Kafe in Rochester.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Alexis T.Waterford Township, MI4376119Mar 16, 2019
So here's the tea!
I don't eat sushi, but my husband loves it. So I try to be spontaneous sometimes and surprise him with some.. I was on my way home googles the nearest sushi place, checked out their yelp rating and I found this little spot.
So they opened at 11:30a I got there at 11:35a which was perfect because they just opened so I imagined I would be in and out... that was not the case
I walked in they already had a few people sitting down and someone was in front of me for a takeout order..I waited and checked out the menu and I saw they had tempura California rolls which is his favorite.
I ordered the tempura California roll and asked the hostess how long did she think it would take (I don't know how long sushi usually takes, because I don't eat it) she said she wasn't sure and she would ask and let me know. I said okay no problem.
I went to the bathroom and came back and took a seat and waited, she ran a few circles around me helping customers and never said anything to me about how long I should expect to wait..
35mins later I received my 6 tempura California rolls.. my husband said they were great and he enjoyed it, I just didn't appreciate the lack of communication and the fact it took 35mins for sushi.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Irina Y.Commerce charter Township, MI2641637Aug 28, 2017
Extremely disappointed! First of all the rolls are tiny with hardly any fish inside. The Sunflower roll is 11$ and has only 4 pieces and also tiny!
Second, we ordered a spicy salmon salad, hardly any fish in the salad-mostly lettuce.
Third, each little cup of dressing is 1$, the waitress should have mentioned it. When the manager was confronted, all she could say was "I am sorry".. that is it.
Overall the sushi is way below average, the waitress became nice after we spoke to the manager.
If you are looking for amazing sushi, go to Sushi Weng, Mene Sushi or Yummy house!
Will never go back to Sushi Land!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Katie C.OR, OR398417Dec 12, 2019
The food and service here are amazing. They even stayed open a little late for us when we kept ordering plate after plate of food. Being a Seattle native, it's difficult to compare fresh sushi with sushi in Michigan, but this blew me away!

I have been coming here for years now. There sushi rolls are phenomenal and the atmosphere is great. I always have great service and great sushi every time! This is my go to sushi place. The only thing I don't like is I alway crave sushi on a Sunday and I think it's just because I know they're closed that day. The sushi roll that's in the picture is called the dragon roll and it is my absolute favorite cooked roll. The black tiger roll is really good too.

I eat in the restaurant and order takeout regularly and it's the best. The ginger dressing on the salad is to die for and my favorite rolls are the Firecracker and Snow Princess. The service is always wonderful too. I refused to try sushi for the first 26 years of my life and now this is my favorite place to eat.

Have gone here since it's been open, enough to where they recognize us and relatively know what we order. It's usually always been a good experience there has been one instance on New Year's Eve where we had slow service and that's the only negative thing I could say about it. And even then we only waited about 30 minutes and they gave us an extra roll because they felt bad. Have eaten at a lot of sushi places in always think that they have the best sushi. The redheaded a waitress is a gem and the best waitress there. Overall great place to eat great staff and always friendly.
