Sushi Totoro

My very favorite sushi restaurant. I love everything about it. I've been eating here for over 10 years and it keeps satisfying my taste buds. The atmosphere is unique and fun.

Decent spot! I ordered the teriyaki chicken lunch special. It consisted of chicken teriyaki, rice, and a California roll.

What worked:
-- pretty tasty! I thought the rice in the California roll was nice and soft and the teriyaki chicken was good
-- good portion size
-- cute spot! Lots of photos on the walls and the theme was fun
-- they gave me a free sticker! There's nothing more exciting than that

What didn't work:
-- my only complaint is that I wish the meal came with a fresh element. Both the chicken and the California roll are pretty sweet so I feel like it needs something fresh or acidic to create balance

Food, good service, and ambience are all phenomenal. Close quarters makes for a Tokyo shop feel with welcoming Polaroids of guests adorning the walls. The sashimi and sushi are hand prepared before your very eyes with skillful grace. Everything out of the kitchen (tempura, katsu, etc.) is absolutely bussin. My girlfriend and I choose this spot for all our sushi cravings and dates. Pair this delicious spot with the boba place next door and get down to the beach!

The MISO BOWL Hello. It's better than a handshake or a traditional bow, better than a hug or a fist bump.

"Welcome! Can I bring you some water and a MISO BOWL?" That's how you're greeted here in the world of Totoro. And man is it good.

No sooner were we face-in-bowls than the frosty LOCAL ipa's were served, making the festive rivalry and thoroughly happy dining din even happier and dinnier.

SOS: The rolls were so damn good, we had to go a second round...because there's nothing better than being Stuffed On Sushi.

An adorable, delicious, friendly restaurant for Totoro fans! What a gem! Many Totoros in store big and small, and the black boards show cute drawings. Delicious bento boxes and salmon. So glad we discovered this place in Santa Cruz. It's truly one of a kind.

There's a big furry Totoro surfing on the ceiling!

Extensive menus.

A small minus is the disgusting toilet in the back. You have to exit the restaurant, go outside, go all the way around the building to the back, to find an unwelcoming iron door.

BEST SUSHI EVER!! Got the spikey boi roll, and I can say with confidence that it was the best sushi I have ever eaten in my life. It was life changing. My life will never be the same again, know that something that delicious exists in the same world as I do. Josh and Paris were awesome! (The rest of the staff was also very amazing, I just don't know their names!! :/ but everyone was fantastic!) definitely recommend this place to anyone, they have a great menu and great prices. Come here!!!!

It was a great hole in the wall find. It was my niece's first time trying sushi. We ordered Totoro roll, salmon nigiri and tempura roll. Sushi was prepared well. I think the fish could been a little bit fresher. Salmon on the nigiri wasn't as fresh as I'd expected it to be.
It's a decent place. It's not a place we'd go back to but a decent place for a quick bite if sushi if in the area in a hot day.

We just finished up dinner to and you should head this way now! The crowd just left and they are pumped and doing an amazing job! Our rolls & Smoked salmon were top notch! The smoke salmon was perfect, light flavorful smoke and to tender! We tried the firecracker for the first time and it was delicious with the extra crunch adding the perfect next dimension of texture and flavor! The ambiance is always so upbeat and fun! This crew is professional yet fun and full of information!

This place was awesome :) The food was incredible, and the servers were super friendly! They loved our Cinnamoroll hats. Each of us finished all of our food, and the pricing was reasonable.

Went here for the first time today. Cute place. They cleaned it up from what I can see on the old pictures. It's pretty hip now. I got a lunch bento box. The food was tasty and good portions. Miso soup a little salty. Outside of that I had a great experience and will go back.
