Unfortunately I have to adjust my review because this business likes to randomly close with no notice whatsoever.
I stopped by several times during regular business hours and the door was locked and the buffet was closed.
After one day of the buffet not being ready until 11:40am when you open at 11am and 2 days of being randomly closed, I took my business to a competitor.
It's not worth driving over for a meal and being greeted by a locked door during regular business hours.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0May 24, 2021Previous reviewI was very impressed with Swagat India House! The owner greeted me and was very appreciative of my business. I ordered the Paneer Tikka Masala and it was delicious! I tried their Sambar because I love the flavors of lentil soup and I'm a vegetarian.
I ordered a spice level 10/10, which to their honor was a bit too spicy for me! 90+% of Indian restaurants do not make their food flavorful and spicy enough for me at the maximum level, so I'll dial a bit back to an 8/10 next visit. I can't stand the "Americanized Indian" food that is very creamy and lacks flavor.
I was given complimentary naan bread which was a kind gesture. Both the Paneer Tikka Masala and Sambar were very tasty, portioned well, and reasonably priced.
I'll be back soon! Owner bagged my leftover food up and was hospitable. He shared that he's been cooking Indian food for 20 years and dreamed of opening a restaurant. I'll be back soon! - Scott S.Milford, OH015Feb 25, 2024
We left a buffet hungry.
I don't leave many reviews especially long ones, but I couldn't let this go. That is how bad this experience and food was.
The buffet was practically empty, it had been sitting there for awhile, they didn't refill it at all and we had to pay a ridiculous price for barely any food. There was not a lot of choice to begin with but a ton less when you don't replenish the food.
There was no rice and they didn't refill it, the chicken was all gone, the chicken in the dishes was clearly recycled, the food was crusted over, and it didn't get better from there. I could have gone to any other Indian restaurant and got at least four dishes for the price that I paid for three people at this buffet and actually had food to eat. We left hungry and frustrated.
Please Go somewhere else!!! My daughter likes to try new things and we wanted to get her to try new Indian dishes, but now she is turned off by Indian.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jisha M.Cincinnati, OH85169876Feb 12, 2023
Have ordered takeout from here several times over the past 2 years and the quality has slowly been declining.
The curry dishes are the only items on the menu which still have some hope. The naan is hard and crispy, the spice levels are inconsistent, and items like the idly are flat when they should be soft & fluffy.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - A S.Cincinnati, OH010Feb 20, 2024
I visited here long time ago and there was nobody came to the front to serve, so I decided to not eat there. This time, I called first and went in. Inside is pretty old and worn out furniture not very welcoming place. Curtains are half shut, so, not much sun light in there. Food is buffet style. After Covid, there is not many indian restaurant with buffet. This got me excited. There are vegetarian sections and non-vegetarian sections. I ended up getting both. (I do not want to talk bad about their business as they make living with this, but...) food was overcooked, not fresh, did not taste well. Combined with old interior of the restaurant, I could not enjoy at all. I hope they find better cook and run the restaurant better.

Correction: added one more STAR. Clarification: Swagat India House only has one location. Please support this great hole in the wall authentic mom & pop Indian restaurant!
Lovely husband and wife team, with grandma in tow.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Sep 25, 2020Previous reviewThe more I eat from here the more I love them. My Vietnamese friends love them too! Added one more store.
The business is now pick up only from their drive through window in the back.
Worth it!Oct 6, 2019Previous review4.5 stars!
Best goat curry any where. Spicy level 7 is as hot as I could get to without my lips falling off. That's equal to Mango Habanero at Buffalo Wild Wing for those crazy wing fans.
Why I'm wild about Swagat?
1) goat is a red meat that's is leaner than chicken breast
2) the goat curry brought my wife back into an Indian restaurant in a long time. The abundance of spices and the smell of them usually scares her but Swagat strikes a nice balance. Tender, comforting and tasty. A couple of bites of my left over was all she needed to come and dine with me
3) Wednesday buffet dinners are a great deal!
4) it's reasonably priced, $12/person
5) great portions
Goat curry is off the menu so it's only for those in the know.
All diners are actual people from India so you know the food is authentic.
My family and the Door Dash & Hub Grub deliverers are the only non Indian presence in the restaurant .
It's a family owned restaurant so you can find grandma occasionally coming out of the kitchen. I'm of the opinion that any kitchen with grandma involved must be producing the best food.
Loses 1/2 star today for a pick up for an order of 3 goat curries that took so long when I called in 10 minutes before I got there.
I think the food is not made until you pay. If that's the case we should have an option to pay ahead as we call in. I would not mind because everyone is so friendly and I really love their food.
Brought 2 orders to a potluck now my Vietnamese friends are regulars . - Siddh P.MI, MI01Jul 3, 2023
The food was delicious and authentic. The food is spicy and fresh and the staff are amazing. We went for dinner and the menu was amazing and the prices were great.

Don't be intimidated by the former Lee's Famous Recipe building, this is a step into India itself! The hospitality was top notch, the smiles genuine and the food was excellent. All for a very reasonable price! I brought a group of guy friend from church and we were treated very well. People....go eat here!

One of the kindest restaurants around! By that, I mean kind and generous owners who serve flavorful and generous portions.
My family usually orders masala dosa, tikka masala and/or a curry, and biryani. Flavor is hard to describe through a text review, but (this might sound weird) one thing worth noting is that I did not realize how certain spicy flavor could be so distinct from other spiciness until I had the previously mentioned dishes. Plus, most dishes make for good leftovers, which is important when portions are so big.
Our experience has been remarkably consistent after 3 (4? Lost count) orders, most of which at near closing that might be inconvenient. We will be coming back soon, and I highly recommend this place to anyone reading this!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Maria R.Cincinnati, OH25291Apr 22, 2022
Nice people. The quality wasn't high. We had saag paneer and chicken tikka masala, both of which were bland. The samosas tasted like they had been fried in old oil.
