It is nice to see a new place like Taco Rock in Oakton. Really cool environment with great music and awesome bar. The food is always good and the bar tenders are very attentive. Ashely, Ailyn, Danie, Torra and even Jake are great to chat with and take your mind off of the challenges of every day life.

Visited for the first time this evening and loved it! Sat at the bar and talked with the really friendly and helpful waitstaff/bar tenders. There was music playing, but not nearly as loud as some of the other places, so it was very nice to sit and talk with the person I was with. The happy hour drink and food specials are great and go on until 7pm every day!
Once our food arrived, we were completely sold. We got 4 different tacos and all were wonderful! Very full tacos with lots of flavor. All the meats were juicy and delicious and the pico and corn salsas were obviously fresh and full of color and flavor.
We will definitely be back!!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

My friend and I came here last Thursday for dinner on national margarita day. They have some bar seating and plenty of tables. They had two bartenders, some cooks and food runners. There's no servers because you order your food at kiosks near the entrance and take a buzzer that lets you know when your food is ready. I think this is a very smart concept except for the fact that you can't order alcohol through there and have to order at the bar.
The bar seating was full, so to get two margaritas took some time and you had to stand in between the people sitting down at the bar, which isn't ideal. You would think that they would tell you about drink promotions (such as discounted margaritas for margarita day), but they didn't and we had to find out towards the end of the meal because of a poster inside the restaurant and by that time they had already run out of the required tequila...
I ordered the birria crunch wrap, a large prickly pear margarita and then had the banana tres leches and churros for dessert.
The birria crunch wrap was my favourite. It had a lot of meat and cheese. The sauces they offer are also good and have varying levels of spiciness. I'd recommend the churos over the banana tres leches. The tres leches was not very moist and was kind of hard. The margarita was more on the bitter/sour side. Honestly, the birria crunch wrap was the only thing that really left an impression on me.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Solid addition to the Oakton area. Overall I appreciate the variety of food and I'd go there again.
Food: A-
We got a few different tacos: smash burger, colonel sanders, one with pork belly and another one with fried shrimp. The taco shell was unique and tasty. Softer than most corn tortillas I've experienced. They were all delicious and with the exception of the burger one, I would order again. My daughter had the burger one and it's a little too unwieldy for a taco. It wasn't bad just not very special. We also got the chicken quesadilla, which exceeded my expectations. Flavorful chicken inside. The fried rice can be skipped. Pretty salty and spicy but lacking much other flavor.
Ambience: B
I think it's just ok. Clean--the busboy immediately cleaned tables as they were available. It felt like more of a bar and not so much a restaurant. I just felt like it could have more charm. It didn't really give off a rock and roll vibe. The bar is in the front of the restaurant, blocking the windows, and the tables were in the back. So if you ate at the tables, you felt as though you were just in a dark back area.
Service: N/A
This was self serve so there's not much to say about it. You order at a kiosk and you pick up your own food.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Noticed the new taco shop by the Giant in Oakton, and was stoked to have a new spot so close. Tried the Colonel Sanders Taco, Key West Grouper Taco (sub flour tortilla), and the Loaded Carnitas Taco (sub flour tortilla). All were spectacular!
The restaurant has a cool vibe, with walk up kiosks for the food and a bar where you can order drinks. I ordered online and the tacos were ready when I walked in the door. The staff were all friendly.
Looking forward to grabbing a spot at the bar next time to try a few of there tasty sounding Margaritas!Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 2Oh no 0Business owner information

Adding this up here so not lost in the details... Overall opinion.... Amazing first taste of tacos with interesting flavor profiles!
Opening day and I'm already being spoiled! Christina is at the bar where there is full service available... otherwise you order at the kiosk and they bring to your table. Hubby can't sit in the tall chairs at the bar... next thing I know Christina popped over to get our order as she saw my hubby struggling as he walked in.
I'm typing as we go... I'll edit this in a bit after we finish lunch...
Ordering... puff blue chips with salsa, hubby selected the carne asada and the el gringo tacos, I selected the pollo poblano and the we jammin tacos, we also ordered rice, beans, and the spicy street corn
Time to do some tasting ....
The puffed chips are a nice twist on things. Just had the pleasure of chatting with Chef Mike the chef behind the chain. He was telling me he uses broth instead of water... must be fresh tacos otherwise they won't puff... defiantly a must order IMO
On the tacos you have some choices... soft blue corn, flour, or lettuce for the wraps. All can be customized as well with sauces from the sauce bar... on that is chipotle, tomatillo, and habanero...
We opted to stay with the blue corn wrap options for all our tacos
Hubby stayed on the classic side. He loved the meat on his carne asada... nice and tender plus it's citrus marinated.,, it has chipotle salsa, corona cheese, onion, cilantro, and radish. The gringo is ground beef and it's really nice I. The spices cooked with it... quite favorable. It has lettuce, pico, melted queso, and jack cheese
I did two chicken tacos... the poblano was a grilled chicken, sautéed onions and poblano peppers, corn, cream, queso fresco, cilantro. The we jammin was grilled jerk with pickled cabbage, jerk sauce, diced mango, Fresno peppers. On the jerk the hot to me was primarily in the fresh Fresno peppers on top.. I would have liked my mangos to be a larger dice as I really like mango and hot together, both were tasty!
Hubby really liked the rice, black beans were well cooked but unremarkable.... The corn tasty and you can opt for on the cob or off. I did on the cob and while messy to eat it adds I think to the enjoyment
On drinks hubby had their classic margarita ... I unfortunately had to have Diet Pepsi... a major flaw IMO as I'm a coke gal!
No room to get to the desserts... but there are churros, flan, and yes a taco option as well (lol)Helpful 3Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

We arrived just before a holiday taco-eating contest where we watched one man eat 15 tacos in 3 minutes.
For us ladies, two to three tacos and some chips were filling enough.
Taco Rock is known for its soft blue corn tortillas.
I'd recommend going straight to specialty tacos. Here's what we ordered, ranked by most delicious (IMO) :
1. Colonel Sanders: I might dream about this taco--perfectly fried chicken, fresh coleslaw and comeback sauce. You have to try it.
2. Puffy Beef Taco: nothing says rock and roll more than flaming Cheetos on a taco. This taco shell was a nice texture contrast to the blue corn tortillas.
3. We Jammin: first time having a jerk chicken taco - the vegetables were fresh and it had a flavorful pallet to it.
4. The Memphis: this taco was loaded with BBQ brisket - they are not light-handed when it comes to protein.
5. Birria: the beef consommé for dipping was seasoned just right.
6. Smash burger: I forgot I was eating a taco with this one - it really tasted like a burger.
These unique tacos were flavorful and well done.
Good enough to make you think you could eat 15 in 3 minutes yourself if you really wanted to
Ambiance-wise, it definitely gives the vibe of a small-town sports bar. They've got big TVs to help you watch the Caps or Nationals game.
The bar was a bit crowded today, but next time, I'll stop by during happy hour.
The ordering style is similar to Panera, where you order on a tablet, and then they bring the food to you. The staff were friendly and in good spirits!
Would recommend it for a first date, a pregame with friends, happy hour, or a quick lunch.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information
