It's been a few years since I have been to this truck and since it was 2ish and I haven't eaten anything yet I thought I would stop over for something small because dinner was somewhat close. The truck is west of Oscars Winners Circle on Burnham St and I have seen it there a few times so it's probably a daily spot.
Since I wanted something small what should I get, a taco/frijoles charros, 2 tacos and I settle on a taco and tostada feeling that this was just the right size. WRONG because the bag felt heftyer but not quite burrito heft. When I opened my container I noticed that the two items were generously topped and looked amazing with grilled pepper/onions/limes as a garnish.
The Al Pastor taco was tasty on two corn tortillas with plenty of meat, red onions and cilantro. The star was the steak tostada piled high on a super crispy corn tostada with plenty of steak, beans, sour cream, two nice fresh avocado slices and cheese. The tostada was very good and bigger than I expected but than again it's not ordered very much by me so it's possible this was the norm, I couldn't finish the whole plate before I was full.
Overall I really liked how they didn't skimp out on anything and for a food truck they make a great presentation with the food.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Apr 10, 2016Previous reviewMy old school burrito crave was far from filled with the last place I went so I thought I would go to one of the authentic taco trucks which I felt would would do it.
I didn't know which one to go to so I would just drive to an area which I would most likely find one. Three vehicles were were around it and I would be the 4th so I probably found one of the better ones. Taco trucks can be hit or miss because some leave all the fat and gristle on the meat.
I took a current photo of the menu to post with up to date pricing. I would have the steak burrito with everything and cilantro and onion added which I like to add. If you look at the menu there is two bean sides which I don't remember seeing on trucks so I had to try one.
Man am I glad I got the charro beans side because they were pretty good. It was like a spicy bean soup with sausage, beans, peppers tomato etc with a nice little heat finish. This was a nice find.
The steak burrito filled my crave with steak, cheese, cilantro, onion, beans, lettuce, tomato and sour creme which is always a great combination. No fat or gristle on the steak but you could tell it was made in a batch and not cooked to order which is my only gripe but it will not affect the stars and is only for your information. There is grilled jalapeño and onions as a garnish which was nice because the jalapeño was the first thing down and I was sweating on my head.
The burrito comes with a green and brownish sauces which both got used but the green was my favorite because it was hot and prolonged my head sweats.
This truck did the job and filled my burrito crave and if you like beans than charro beans are a must try and a very nice change from re fried beans. I can't believe I'm going to say this but the charro beans are what is going to get me back to this truck and what got them an extra star. - Ivette R.Racine, WI5115Sep 9, 2020
I know about tacos, I look for the best anywhere I go, I lived in Mexico for 6 years and these are by far the best I have had in the states. The burrito... I asked only meat since I was taking it to my hotel, the tortilla was dry and the meat inside was juicy, I put some avocado, tomato and their sauce and I was in heaven... at the truck I had al pastor, asada, and chicken with onions and avocado... and their green sauce.. yes! Limón too... I ordered like When I lived in Ensenada, Mexico .. flour tortillas.... omg! I was back there...
I will come back, I will go tomorrow for more. I am happy to have found this gem

We hit up the truck when we're in Milwaukee and hungry which is a few times a year. They did move and we had a little difficulty finding them this time but they are pretty much located across the street a very short distance from El Rey Mexican market. Every time we go it's soooooo good. It's been consistent over the last two years for us. My favorite is the tripita taco. Nice and crisp. The beans are also really good. I've tried the burrito which I didn't care for but I'm a taco fan in general. Plenty of street parking but no places to sit which is ok for us. We made it a tradition to set up everything on the trunk of the car and eat standing there ;)

And steak tacos. We tried a torta, hubs really liked it. I'm more of a taco gal so I would stick with those because they are LEGIT! Delicious. I wish I could go there everyday. Every.day.

Tacos, I could eat you every day. Why doesn't the El Charrito truck just follow me around the city, there and ready with al pastor when I need it?
That would probably be pretty cost prohibitive, so I'll just stick to visiting them on the weekends at 38th and Burnham. I LOVE when food trucks have a schedule or a designated spot, because finding your favorites can be a real pain. Clearly this location is working well for them, because even on a Saturday afternoon there was a steady stream of walk-ups and people phoning in their orders to pick up. Who knew!
I got a couple al pastor tacos and that pork is a tasty rendition. Lots of seasoning so the pork is deep red with flavor. No noticeable fat or gristle. Plenty of cilantro and onions, plus a lime wedge for each taco (as a citrus freak, that is important!). Doubled tortillas, as they should be. Paid an extra quarter to get avocado; totally worth it.
Also got a plate of 5 mini tacos. They were probably like 3-biters each and stuffed full of meat. The chicken was shredded and a little bland, but chorizo made up for it. You can only order 2 meats for the 5 tacos, but that seemed reasonable. Also comes with a halved grilled jalapeno and some onions to make it a little platter.
Red salsa was smokey but a little bland. Salsa verde was tangy and better. We waited 15+ minutes for our order which was kind of a bummer, but like I said they were taking a ton of phone orders so they seemed a little backed up in there. No matter, I will be back!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Andre T.Milwaukee, WI08Dec 30, 2019
My friend, #1 taco truck. Fast and convenient. Clean truck. They take phone orders. Always by the same intersection.

I haven't written a review about this place?!? Let's get to it.
I walk dogs across the street at MADACC on a regular basis. Walking past this taco truck with each dog is torturous (the smell is amazing). Add in that it's usually right before I eat dinner, and whatdyaknow, I end up scarfing down tacos in my car, smelling like dog slobber and poop. And it's glorious.
It's so cheap it's ridiculous and the guys in the truck are super friendly. Oh yeah, and it's delicious? My favorite is the al pastor.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Jeniffer D.Mount Pleasant, WI52118185Jun 10, 2016
Eat here. Now. The al pastor and chicken tacos are off the chain. Flavorful, fresh and authentic. Yum

Hands down the best tacos in Milwaukee and at $2 a piece they were amazing. Large tasty tacos with a great selection of meats and sauces. Two were more than plenty for a meal. Make sure to tip these hard working guys.
